Duggan still improving every week. As mentioned a million times already.
Bagged the crap out of Hurn all last week, good to see his response.
Darling finally stringing together good game form.
Shep back to pretty good form.
Gov is better down back for team structure, float fwb for the occasional goal like Schoey but majority down back.
Cripps is quick and needs to use it more often not just when he can be stuffed.
Masten Masten Masten, really?? Why oh why does he keep getting a gig ahead of Parto. Has now moved well behind Redden and Hutch in pecking order and hopefully goes out for Parto this week.
Lecra looks to be a little selfish at times, whether he means to or not I don't know but he does burn guys at times.
Our midfield needs a little work and restructuring.

Was surprised how clean Priddis was early,and i know he and Mitchell got ok numbers but you do see them toiling when we are under pressure.We were on the ropes badly but they couldnt get in the killer blows.Hill had a very good game and at times cut us to pieces but thank God his finishing was woeful.
Re our game plan;its all very well to constantly pack the defence and justify it by saying we won didnt we? but to see guys streaming out of defence and having to turn around because theres nobody to kick to,is quite depressing.Its not a great brand of footy.I think the weekends game was also an "up yours " to the people who poo pooed the idea of going for youth.Duggan and Nelson were good and Cole was best for EP..Our Mids got caned on the spread.Id like to see Nelson in the guts.Hes very composed.Simmo said we would have a very different looking side this time next year.Why wait till then?? Freo Midfield . Fyfe , Mundy and Neale . Not a big deal they won contested ball more than us. After watching a replay and calculating the i50's . After a 1and a half 1/4's this was the breakdown . Freo 23. Eagles 16 .
Not even 1 clean i50 for Freo. Hill misses 2 snaps on goal from stoppage 1 of them he shoulda got. Cox also misses a snap from a stoppage he shouda got. There score with 12 mins remaining in the 2nd 1/4 was 4 behinds. Fyfe scored the other point from a contested mark Near 50 m flank. At this stage it is easy to see that 1.their midfield dont have elite foot skills and their forwards have no skills at all. Ok they had more i50s helped by 3 out on fulls by us and a bit of kick to kick from midfield to our elite backline that are noted for intercept marking.
Eagles in this time had 16 i50s . 4 of them were elite midfield passes 2 goals to Kennedy 1 goal to Darling and 1 to Petrie from a Joe goose after Darlings other mark. Priddis converted a snap.
From this point 12 mins remaining of the 2nd 1/4 I wont do any more i50 stats as they are just stats that mean little. Yes we deserved to win and we did.
We are only a couple of personnel shy of decent side .

I only saw the first half and I remember Duggan bumping Fyfe over while they competed for a ball on the defensive 50.
Petrie got it right there, but I've seen so many bad examples of that ploy by others. A mark will be taken in he dying stages of a quarter/game and without even bothering to see what options are available the old slow down hand wave will appear. Often there's a risk free kick/handball/play on there for the taking but the player has basically made up his mind mid-mark to go slow. Frustrates the heck out of me with the player thinking he's showing composure but he's actually cost the side. A bit like Masten yesterday in a different situation where, in Q2, he marked on the 50m line with no one in front of him and instead of running 10m and kicking from 40m he stopped and turned around. By the time he pumped it high to the square the entire Freo team were down there. The truly good players ALWAYS look for good options before they slow things down.

At the start of the year, Fremantle were glowing in praise for there forward line recruiting. Particularly getting Kersten from Geelong. They let him go for pick 63 and now Fremantle are seeing why that was the case. He is a dead set spud.

Do you watch football much? Don't have to watch many AFL and WAFL games to see that Freo's drafting in recent years has shat all over West Coast's. Deluded if you think otherwise.
The argument on both sides is a little pointless. You would hope your recruiting has been better, given where you finished last year but only time will tell. As it stands, we have two pretty ordinary teams with several deficiencies that each team seems unable or unwilling to address properly. You guys up forward, us in the middle. That said, I think your drafting has been pretty good. Your trading, a mixed bag (like most).

To be fair Nyhuis (sp? cbf looking it up) is a decent young player. Suffered from horrible supply yesterday.

You seem confused. Teams in the early stages of a rebuild via the draft and trading don't tend to win many games so applying this as the measure of success would be invalid.

Not sure if you recall (I understand if you don't though) but you were consistently getting thrashed, so your coach decided to save face and humiliation not to mention his own future by coming out half way through this season and claim you are "rebuilding".
If your draft and trading was so much superior to West Coasts over the last few years as you claimed, you wouldn't have needed to rebuild.
