Autopsy Positives and Negatives vs GC

Those are all unknowns that probably deserve to get more games but Simmo will play favourites and gift games to the senior players and really only rotate the reddens, mastens, jettas and hutchings of the team.

Honestly I dont even see why we play Mitchell. He's better than a few useless players in our team but he's not making any real impact. At least not the impact we expected.
Personally I have come to the conclusion that it's the coaching (or lack thereof) as well as the match Committee with their selections that's the problem. I know the age factor kicks in but how in hell have so many of our players gone backwards in their ability. Is it the game plan or the coaching that's the problem - that is the question? You could bring in Houdini but if the coaching and team spirit is not there not much is going to happen. Think maybe that Nic Nat and Kennedy have been covering the cracks. It's mind boggling to say the least that this team as a whole managed to make a GF only 18 months ago! Has Simmo lost the players. So many questions and no answers!!

Positives:
+ Sheed was fantastic
+ Yeo continues his elite form
+ Petrie was impressive in that last quarter
+ Vardy competed well
+ Jetta was impressive

Negatives:
- The Vic-centric media will have a field day
- Our worst performance for the year, easily
- We dropped a must win game
- Darling
- Nelson had a below average game
- LeCras
- More ******* fuel for the overly negative posters on here, making for some shocking reading.

Positive - good luck asking for a hefty membership hike to watch this crap at the new stadium;

Negative - seems as if the new stadium is planning on some serious gouging of Freo and wc, so Subi may be on the cards;

Positive - the club has no option to play kids to give a seriously dissolutioned supporters something to feel good about so the pension plan will be in overdrive by seasons end.

I just feel empty after a loss these days. It feels like I am watching a soulless entity. The players are robots with no passion or intensity.

Darling is a shaddow of the player he used to be, I had no faith that he would stand up today. He is just an average player and that's all he'll ever be. Keep your feet and attack the ******* ball instead of looking for frees.

Lecras is cooked, no goals in three games. He didn't need to be rushed back.

Priddis is done. He can't keep up with opposition players. He can't defend.

Gaff is one dimentional and not actually that good.

Duggan hasn't improved since his first season. He doesn't look like improving, what has happened to him.

Sheed and Yeo were good.
Couldn't agree more with all these points that you made. Especially the first paragraph.
The team is made up of soulless robots who don't show any real desire to win in hard contests.
There is no team spirit just a bunch of individuals happy to pick up the cheque with no real feeling for the club. Some exceptions notably JK who just tries his guts out every week and today showed exactly how piss weak we are without him.

My thoughts on Shuey are that he is a solid player and at times is capable of some pretty extraordinary games. However, i feel that at this stage in his career, and with his undeniable ability, he should be impacting games more decisively and on a far more frequent basis.
He has to still be carrying some kind of injury, surely. Also he can't do it all on his own - needs to be a team effort.

He plays one on one which you have to if you want to win finals, playing off your man as we do doesn't work in big games. It makes McGovern and co look like stars every few weeks but is the wrong way to play to be a great side.

He can only manage one on one though if his opponent is stupid enough to wrestle with him. He can't keep up with a leading forward and has all the mobility of a bogged truck.

Lynch's relative lack of goals (3.1 is by no means a poor game) today has more to do with utterly putrid F50 entries from Gold Coast than anything Mackenzie did. Had a couple of good spoils where the ball sat up in the air, but for the most part Lynch seemed to find it pretty easy to get rid of him. An absolute shadow of his former self.

You can't take a giant player like Kennedy and realistically expect to win. He covers for rucks takes marks out of defence. Without him we are a much weaker team. We are also suffering for not developing a true CHF. Darling is not and never will be a CHF.

Kennedy is a massive player for us and we really missed him. He covers so many cracks. We are also paying for not developing a true CHF. Darling will never be that. Vardy might be OK but can't take a mark. Petrie? Schofield? OK who??

Yes I agree with you re Kennedy. I was expecting a loss as just could not see us winning without him - but one can live in hope! Putting the loss of Kennedy out of the equation, there are still plenty of cracks that need to be addressed though. I also dread the day that Kennedy eventually retires - hopefully by then we will have addressed the problem and find somebody to replace him as there doesn't appear to be anybody in the horizon at this stage.

Thought Sheed was terrific today. Been a good few weeks from him, looks like he's starting to gain that consistency.

Yeo is a star. As average as he was last season, he'd be in the top few best players in the comp this year. Huge year.

Gov was good, Jetta was good, EMac was actually alright tbh, Petrie was very good...but just way too many passengers in the forward line. Yikes. LeCras and Darling...that...that was bad....

Duggan is very worrying and shapes as another draft failure albeit he is still young. It's not so much his production that is worrying but its his skills and how he doesnt have the body of an inside midfielder so hes limited to the flanks. Needs a spell in the twos and should've been sent there sooner.

Postive:
Go on holiday without injury. Gold Coast might be a good place to stay behind for the film park too!?
To be fair, some players did try hard.

Negative:
1. Same old problem - lack intensity before and after long breaks.
2. Too rely on JK in the past. The consequence is ...
3. Gold Coast is not playing well either. It is like a WAFL game. ( The East Perth Vs West Perth game on Monday might have a better standard)

This isn't about you saying play Duggan. This is about the people who wanted to start a rebuild four weeks ago after a bad fourth quarter against the Dogs.

We're way too old. Playing the kids is fine. Don't pretend nobody is clamouring to blow it up.
Get Marcus Adams back and play him as inside mid. He is big and quick! Do it while he is not vey expensive.

Not to bad of an idea except for the fact he just signed an extension during the week with the Dogs
We are too short sighted in last October trade then!!
I remember we did argue about drafting Nic Nat Vs D. Rich. Today, we know a big body is essential for clearance ; Nic Nat is a good example.

What is the point of having 3 tall defenders (plus Vardy and Petrie) in the side if Yeo is going to be one who is playing on Wright with 2 minutes left in the game and ahead by only 4 points? Think they put Mackenzie on Wright after the goal was kicked. Poor strategy and (often hit and miss) team selections are as much to blame as below par player performances.

Alright, going to be a longish post

Lecras - Backed him up when he's had the chances/the tackles and used the ball well the past games. This was a whole new level of shit from him. Where's the guy that used to demand the ball, grab it cleanly and who had such a lethal boot you could almost bookmark a goal from anywhere? He looked shit, **** his off ball work, his on the ball work was poor. I counted one good contested grab and then a shit load of fumbles, so many fumbles that ruined any half chances he'd have otherwise had. Needs a rest.

Darling - Invisible man today, a poorly structured forward line for sure but still no excuse not to get on your bike and impact other areas. He's not a ****ing FF though, needs a decoy at best

Shuey - What a godsend. He tackles hard, doesn't give to shit options, was a clearance machine. I feel so sorry for him with the trash he has to put up with.

Yeo - Also a champion, my favourite thing is that he doesn't put his head down even when playing with spuds, so good to see him damaging teams in so many different ways, sometimes he's taking intercept marks, other times he's kicking goals. Versatile and skilled.

Mitchell - Maybe don't call for the ball all the time, players like Gaff are bound to give it to you regardless of who's around, although kudos to you for getting out of such sticky situations!

Sheed - Played less than 3 quarters of footy but it was high impact football. Shame about those set shots though in a close contest.

Duggan - I need you to disappear for a few weeks to East Perth. You can't seriously be getting so few touches, either you're out of position too much, not good at finding space, don't have the tank to get in position or have been played in a hybrid position so long you've lost confidence and direction. Either way a spell is needed

Petrie - Amazing last quarter, looked like he wanted the win and in the end we'd have been more screwed without him.

Cripps - Sort of invisible, doesn't look up to it at all since coming back, haven't seen that trademark dash too often and he's not hitting the scoreboard, although he's not alone.

Zone defence - Way too loose, what's the ****ing point sometimes? Goldcoast moved the ball with ease, they lack the inability to kill an attack.

The worst thing is that while we were watching, when the game was coming down to the wire, everyone in the room had the sense that the Eagles were about to lose, it was so predictable.

Negative: Sick of Simmo being all nice and calm, looks as if he has no fire in the belly.

Leon Cameron absolutely baked the giants during the Essendon game and they responded. When was the last time we had a coach who did this? Woosha was the same.

Mick gave a good bake. Looked like he would strangle players at times.
