Given the expected weather conditions, surely M Crouch has to play?
If it is wet and windy then M Crouch has to be >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Douglas. Douglas will spend all game slipping over anyway.
Expected weather conditions? It might be cold, but doesn't look like it will rain or be windy, should just be a normal night game with a bit of dew.

I've tried to shut those few days out of my memory, but something's telling me that VB might have been named on an extended bench which was going to be cut down on the Friday.

Walsh died in the early hours of Friday morning 3 July 2015

I just checked and we actually play on 3 July this year; against the Demons at the G.

Will be emotional.

So who comes in for Brown when he pulls out before the game tomorrow night? Kelly? or B Crouch?

Kelly - Based solely on Clarke's comments on 5AA:

There will have been over 100mm of rain on the ground over recent days. Could be a bit squishy under foot.

I think the big changes are the GWS ones. With Davis now out they've lost 3 first choice defenders this week.
And given the scoring efficiency of our forwards, if we can come close to breaking even in the midfield we should win quite comfortably.

Yeah, if we're to win this game, our forward line needs to fire and our defense needs to hold strong against a likely onslaught of D50 entries. The best we can hope for really from the midfield is for them to break even or at least apply pressure on GWS as they exit the stoppage.

If the first 8 rounds showed anything, it was that we don't need our midfield to be on top to be competitive deep into the last quarter. If the defense can hold up and the forwards make the most of limited opportunities, hopefully the crowd/home ground advantage can get us home in the last. Remember they've played in very few games where the stadiums packed out and hostile.

How hard is it to make to a judgment on Hendo? He can't tackle, his defensive pressure is non-existent, and rarely do I see his run and kicking hurt an opposition.

He's not AFL standard. He may rack up 20 odd disposals but what impact does this have on the game? He's fine in the SANFL, but he offers nothing in the AFL and is a reflection of the club's conservative mediocrity.

Watch him closely against GWS when the pressure is on. Comedy show.

So assuming I have never seen him play a game of AFL football, I should just take your word for it that he is bad? What if you told me McGovern would never be AFL standard? Should I have listened to your all-knowing wisdom?

My point is, you and I have seen Henderson play a lot more than Pyke has so we know he isn't best 22. But I don't want a coach that takes others word as gospel. I want a coach that likes to make up his own mind on players.

You can't argue that he doesn't pick Player X because others tell him not to, then argue that he should have listened to other people instead of choosing Player Y.

I was expecting some melting, dear lord the thread has exploded. Crouchii and Kelly are on the cusp. They'll get their crack again soon enough. What we've seen with Pyke is he isn't afraid to drop seniors (yeah ok, dougy hasn't been canned yet but he's only one poor performance away and i reckon he'll be given a run in the 2s). VB, this is essentially his last chance. If he makes his usual skill errors coming out the back line, he'll have no where to hide. He needs to make sure every push out of half back that goes through him is one that doesn't immediately come back over his head. He's on thin ice. Let's hope that the crouch boys are made of sterner stuff that what most of this board think, that the midfield and forward lines perform to the best of their ability, and on the night the boys on the park get the job done.

I'm sure Pyke has seen enough of Hendo previously to know whether he's any good. You imply Pyke is a rookie to the game, when he's been in the system for a long time. I wonder if Clarko would need to see more of Hendo to know whether there is a place for him in the Hawthorn side?
