Just remind me; he past on the Thursday morning, not Friday right?

So match selection wasn't done yet.

Correct, as i posted previously Walshy selected the 3 stooges for every game he could, his elite standards mantra whilst sounding the bees knees didn't seem to extend to selection.

I did have a theory that Walsh was playing the long game with these blokes. Give them every opportunity to prove their worth to the side, not just on a week to week basis, but looking 2-3 years down the line. Once he was done with them he was going to be done with them, which is why they were getting so much time, cause he was potentially looking at ending their time here, which could possibly be the end of someone's career at AFL level.

Now the issue is that we played that game last year and saw these blokes are average at best now and are likely to get worse as we go on. That's why it's so frustrating we've gone back to them, it shows we didn't learn much from last year.

I don't think the selection is unreasonable. If you're going to bring either of the Crouches in then who are you going to leave out?
It can't be VB or Henderson because they're defenders.
Can't be Sloane. Can't be Douglas he was in the Best Players last week.
Can't be Lyons he deserves his spot.
Dropping Thompson is tricky - there's got to be some leeway for someone approaching 300 games.
If you want to drop VB or Henderson then you've got to bring in a defender and they are the two best options.
Kelly and the Crouches are emergencies and Bob's your uncle.

You don't have much of a memory there buckets. Out last week was 2 x mids, lyons replaced one and a bit of a shuffle saw VB take a defensive spot which was NOT vacated by either Crouch. I think it woukd be possible to reverse the shuffle and bring in a quality mid at the expense of a cooked pseudo defender. Thommo doesn't need to be dropped, he needs to be told he can barely run out there and is doing himself and his team a disservice by insisting he plays. He needs a week off to recharge the legs and then straight back in. Check his performances leading out of and into rest weeks last year. Exactly same scenario this year but our dimwitted midfield coach can't detect the most obvious of patterns. Speaking of patterns, perhaps that ciach could work something out where our midfielders apply some defensive pressure to give our under siege defenders a freaking chance.

But that implies Cheney is not responsible for every goal conceded?

I was expecting some melting, dear lord the thread has exploded. Crouchii and Kelly are on the cusp. They'll get their crack again soon enough. What we've seen with Pyke is he isn't afraid to drop seniors (yeah ok, dougy hasn't been canned yet but he's only one poor performance away and i reckon he'll be given a run in the 2s).

Pyke dropped vb after round 1 where it was obvious to everyone apart from the selection committee we needed another tall.

Apart from this admission they made a mistake which other senior player has felt the wrath of our last 4 poor midfield performances?

I feel for our defenders. Personally, I'm neither here nor there on Cheney. I think Hampton could perhaps be an upgrade and Doedee a significant one. But I have him miles ahead of VB and Hendo as a defender. Probably about even with Kelly. But I can't see how he makes way for anyone yet and whilst I think he's the first I'd like to improve upon back there, I don't understand the vitriol directed at his performances.

Yeah was just having a laugh with that post. Agree, I'm actually neither here nor there also, but like you I find the vitriol is strange.

His pass last week in the first Q from defence, a 45m Bullet that hit Douglas on the move through corridor, was deadset elite disposal. Of course Dougy stuffed the next pass.

Interesting I haven't found much reference to it though.

Kane Cornes should party with all the eeyores in this thread. Apparently there's no way the Crows can win unless it's raining. I

'm guessing the rain will benefit us for sure, but remember Kane, there was just no way the Crows could match the Port's overwhelming amount of talent in the showdown.

NEK MINNIT you ****head!

I like Kane, especially after Port lose, he's always so surprised when it happens.

Agreed. Not many mention anything positive about Cheney, but he seemed to win every one-on-one against him who must not be mentioned in the Geelong match! One of the main problems is that the team defence means he has many different opponents in the same match, some of them complete physical mismatches.

"I enjoy playing with Tails, the other leader down there". You're injury backup, you'll be embarrassed tomorrow night and most people understand we can't get you out of there quick enough. He didn't have to slip in a reference to his leadership status, why would someone do that? He was woeful in that interview. He could have referenced plugging away doing his job in the 2's and an injury to Laird and Crouch being rested giving him an opportunity. But no, he rambled on as if he'd won his spot back on merit alone.
Still doesn't mean he can't be a leader. He's still in the group, he's a former skipper and a respected clubman. As for him 'being embarrassed', I reckon there'd be a few ahead of him in that sense.

I knew it was a joke. Thought I'd throw some support behind your righteous campaign for balanced views.

It could straight up be Hendo or VB because they are crap.
Could be Douglas cos he's done less than either this year. No he wasn't in the best last week that was a fanboi troll.
Thommo has got worse and worse as the year has rolled on. He needed a break 3 weeks ago. How this escapes the selection committee is the biggest mystery to me. And no, the number of games one has played should not determine how much leeway they are afforded unless they are a promising up and comer.
Hendo isn't a defenders left hook, and VB is named in defence because the panel can't justify another Non-statistical scenario ala
Wright last year.
