Only when they winI thought he was already coaching the Power...
Tex was very close to getting up for the Richmond game, he said himself the back was recovering far better than earlier this season and he looked fine in our last training session. He'll play against Sydney.Looks like Tex isn't ready & not worth risking... so continue using Borlase up forward & Jones gets a reprieve as a defender.

HB: Michaelanny, Keane, Hinge
C: Sholl, Soligo, Nankervis
HF: Schoenberg, Fogarty, Pedlar

Tex, N Murray & Rankine to return after the bye...
Given some of his performances under duress this season, why risk him when there is a bye the following week?Tex was very close to getting up for the Richmond game, he said himself the back was recovering far better than earlier this season and he looked fine in our last training session. He'll play against Sydney.
In: Rankine, Murray, Cook? Pedlar, Curtin, Taylor, Edwards.......ROB - get your eyes sorted out lad.
Out: Strachaun(inj) McHenry, Burgess, Keays, Murphy, Smith, Schoenberg.
On what Earth do we play Nick Murray 2 games in the SANFL?
Does Rankine now come back through the 2's?
We wouldn't know the way forward even if the light at the end of the tunnel was turned on!
Because we pick the team to win this week. If he can play he'll play.Given some of his performances under duress this season, why risk him when there is a bye the following week?
Would prefer to get him right & he plays on next season
Nothing much to be gained by playing him.
Why would there be any risk? If the back has recovered, he's just as likely to get a back spasm picking up his kids again as he is on a footy field. The cautious approach was not playing him against Richmond.Given some of his performances under duress this season, why risk him when there is a bye the following week?

How many times has he had this back injury reoccur this season? Why would there be any risk? If the back has recovered, he's just as likely to get a back spasm picking up his kids again as he is on a footy field. The cautious approach was not playing him against Richmond.
You think the primary focus for the remainder of the year is winning?Because we pick the team to win this week. If he can play he'll play.
A couple of "ifs" but with the season shot and Tex starting to get "old warhorse" injuries, do we think a retirement announcement will happen soon with an appropriate home game send off?Given some of his performances under duress this season, why risk him when there is a bye the following week?

Are you poor at reading sarcasm? The poster you quoted is just quoting what Kelly, Silvers and Nicks have said in recent days about still picking the team to win that week. You think the primary focus for the remainder of the year is winning?
Seriously?
Nah, reckon he goes on one more. Heavily managed next year like Hawkins at Geelong.A couple of "ifs" but with the season shot and Tex starting to get "old warhorse" injuries, do we think a retirement announcement will happen soon with an appropriate home game send off?

Next season, I just said I'm confident he'll play given the club will be desperate for a win against a good opponent to take some heat off them. Also 4 weeks for Rankine by the time of our next game, I again doubt they'll leave out our best player if he's fully recovered given where our season is at.There is an emoticon for where it's not obvious!
You were being serious though!
More important for Tex to play next week or next season?
But what is the point in risking quality players when our season is cookedNext season, I just said I'm confident he'll play given the club will be desperate for a win against a good opponent to take some heat off them. This has been the continued message before and after the Richmond loss. You think the primary focus for the remainder of the year is winning?
Seriously?
Sadly, I think this year will be it, given there doesn't appear to be much hope of us playing finals next year.Nah, reckon he goes on one more. Heavily managed next year like Hawkins at Geelong.
Since posting, I've looked at our fixture and I think Tex would want to stay until the round 22 showdown (which is Port home game). The following week we finish our year in Sydney. Doesn't seem right for Tex to retire one game before a showdown.Based on the club refusing to talk to Sloane about retirement, the decision would fall on Tex and the day he chooses to retire, we will probably asking him to hold the announcement until the last home game for the season. I don't mind that. However, he would actually do the list a service by retiring mid season with Brodie Smith so we can prepare for next season and experiment with our forward structure.
Knowing Nicks though Dawson is probably secretly training to be our Tex replacement.
Don't mention the camp.I'm in the camp of not risking Rankine this week.

Mutineer thinks ROB is an absolute gun ruckman..Well our choices are a guy who brings no leadership at all, makes terrible decisions, can't mark the ball, struggles to kick and handball or the guy who can't ruck at all and has little positive or negative influence
