Pickett and Mcintosh were both good. Had the better of the Sydney wings, with Gulden in particular, coming into the game on a hot streak.

Macca was pretty poor. 6 turnovers and 5 clangers from 14 touches says it all. Go and watch his first quarter again … it was horrible and turnover city. Only 2 intercepts. 1 tackle. Sure, he might have done some hard running, but he’s not the future.

Give him credit, Pickett was good today. But I’d prefer him in VFL also.

I’ve been saying since season started to play a maximum of one of these guys each week… never play both. I hope Macca comes out this week.

Just finished watching the replay and if we were proud of the game they played against Carlton, then we should be even prouder again with todays game. First game since round 3 2008 that we've won a game without Martin Grimes Cotchin & Reiwoldt in the side. We had a lot of kids step up today when we needed them most. Mansell was huge as was Maurice playing up forward buzzing around and putting the Swans defenders under pressure whenever they got the footy. Seth Campbell was calm and composed for a kid who has played 4 games in his career, Dow answered a lot of critics with a big game in the middle, Miller Brown & Young were solid down back and will only improve the more they play together. Lefau looked much better 2nd game in hitting the scoreboard and having an impact inside F50. Along with all the positive signs we saw from the kids, it was great to see some of the older blokes get back to their best. Vlastuin was huge down back, intercepting pretty much everything that came his way, Taranto was back to his gut running best along the way to 35 disposals 8 clearances 6 tackles and an important goal. Daniel was influential coming off HB rebounding well, but also defending well when it was needed. Bolton played that forward/midfielder role perfectly, while Pickett had a big game on the wing covering plenty of ground and setting up a lot of play, but his defensive work was also quite important. The 2 major concerns from the game though will be the Lynch injury and just how long he could miss, while Baker will have an anxious night waiting to see if his bump will draw a week or 2 off.

On the basis that both Lynch and Baker will miss, the changes I'd have for the Saints game at Norwood are:
Out - Lynch (inj) Baker (susp) Lefau (omit)
In - Koschitzke Martin McAuliffe

B: Brown Young Miller
HB: Short D.Rioli Vlastuin
C: McIntosh Taranto Pickett
HF: Campbell Mansell M.Rioli
F: Balta Martin Koschitzke
R: Nankervis Bolton Dow
INT: Broad Ross Sonsie McAuliffe Banks

It's tough to be omitting a player after a team win like that, but I don't see Lefau being able to play key forward well enough to be a threat against the Saints. While Koschitzke isn't everyone's most liked I do think he'll give us at least a consistent effort playing forward and if he doesn't mark it, he'll bring it to ground at the very least. Martin if fit is an automatic in, while McAuliffe deserves a debut, especially when it's in his home state.

You’d drop Lefau when Lynch is injured and he’s just kicked 2-goals? And bring in Kosi who went goalless at VFL level? I know Lefau didn’t get much of the ball, but he competed well and showed improvement on his first game.

That’s an A1 way to kills a newbies confidence… I’ll be pretty disappointed if Lefau is dropped.

Well that game is worth watching again and congratulations to Yze for his first win as RFC coach.
Pretty well every kid showed something today which was so pleasing bc there were so many question marks on a lot of them.
MRJ as I’ve been telling people on here he was not the problem talent wise, but more with discipline with his fitness. Even in his Oompa Loompa state he’s still the most explosive Tiger off 10m behind Bolton. Still adamant he’ll be an A grader.
Miller again was the sacrificial lamb last year and the coaches erred badly not playing him in the BL, probably out of desperation bc of our poor ruck and tall forward stocks. It was still inexcusable as poorer defenders were playing and he was always the first man dropped. As I said earlier in the year if he gets a gig down back he’d kill it and he’s had two huge weeks now.
Seth Campbell and Sonsie are looking really clean and electrifying which has been the thing lacking in our team.
Brown is still a Ferrari that needs a few more practice laps and a bit more fine tuning. His kicking is elite and pretty well can hit a target 50m away unfazed. He’s definitely an A grade talent.
Dow , Mansell with LeFau well done for bouncing back and hopefully confidence grows from this win and your games begin to build from here.
Of the old timers you had to give the three votes
for “Guess Who “ as the commentators were saying. It’s Nick Vlaustin.
He was the standout player on the ground.
Nakkers, Bolton , Taranto , Baker and Lynch terrific also.
Biggest disappointment was KMac and a poster threw up his heat map which tells you nothing about how poor he actually was defensively and skilled wise . He’s got to make way for KMac2 now as we need playmakers not play breakers. As I have mentioned so often to people here we need to move on from our heroes as they’re taking us nowhere and actually holding up progress. My biggest concern will be if Yze will have the balls to continue playing the kids once all the fossils and tractors are fully fit.
Anyway a massive win.

To _RT_ I know we have our hit outs on here, but I never take anything personal bc I know you’re a passionate Tiger. I’ve met you on a couple of occasions and you’re a real gentleman and honest citizen as well as being well clued up with football. You do probably more on this Tiger forum than any other poster with your AFL and VFL previews and it’s definitely appreciated by me.
I hope you have a speedy recovery and your illness never returns and best wishes for your health in the future.

That's the thing will he have the nerve not to pick these players eg Grimes Macca? Even Short is just a list clogger. Jr talent has always been there but fitness was the problem. yesterday he ran all day which was surprising. Need to play the kids and bring more in and yes I don't care if we lose more than we win they need games. Looks like Lynch is out again and we don't have a replacement as Balta is useless up there. Maybe Ryan in Lynchs roll best we have and I would bring in May as is much better than kozzi. Anyway what we know armchair warriors lol.

Watching the replay Nank was epic today. Nullified Grundy and some of Nanks efforts winning clearances like an extra big bodied midfielder were team lifting. Terrific Captains game. 🤩
Glad someone agrees, I had Nank as one of our best today, competed well in ruck, won or nullified plenty and a great change to not see opposition walking the ball out of middle all game. Great game Nank, 2 votes from me.

I'd keep Ross in the guts and let Banks or Sonsie take that wing. Love everything Grimes has given us but surely we cannot drop anyone in the backline. They were superb today and our future.
I bet you they will drop Young for Grimes or keep both in and play Miller CHF for Lynch. lol it’s a fear I have if they rush Grimes back bc the gremlins are still in the system.

I think Brown would be on the chopping block despite being solid. Grimes really should have to work to put the pressure on to get his spot back
