My Take on this performance in percentages out of 10-Backs- BROAD- out of position going to most contests tried hard-4.5 ASTBURY-bustled and wrestled ok no drive out of b line hard job 4.5 GARTH-not fit consistent spoil 100% kicking 2 meters off opposition was not ready on fitness 4.5 VLASTUIN best back early bit of drive out of bl was moved around why? 5.0 EDWARDS created plenty but defensively to loose cost us goals 5.0 SHORT-inj ELLIS-runs to space not hard at anything poor disposal foot and hand 3.0 COTCHIN- always trying his game not working atm always at it 5.5 MAC- gets ball a lot runs in circles fumbles did not create much 5.5 RIOLI- got going well good best qtr and half till hit slowed up 6.0 BUTLER seriously out of form outside player not getting it much and kicking badly 3.0 CASTAGNA-has pace doesn't use it, when gets ball not sure what to do with it jittery 3.5 Markov- gets to ball cant do anything with it tries to break free gets caught 3.5 LYNCH-still unfit but does his job makes contests and scores most opportunities 6.5 BALTA- is a goer makes good contests versatile still 1 qtr of full fitness to find creates doubt in opposition 6.5 NANK- always there doing his job a wokhorse and leader honest 5.0 MARTIN- wtf attitude stinks right now over confidant for no reason must find plenty more 3.5 LAMBERT-always tries but not finding right space and getting caught unsure where to deliver the ball but gets plenty of it 6.5 GRAHAM- works tirelessly to win the ball but getting caught accuracy by hand and foot not quite there always tackles if cant win it 4.0 HIGGINS- always lively tends to flash in and out to win the ball and can cough it up gets unreal goals but not enough straight forward ones 4.0 PRESTIA-in and under and wins a lot of contests and ball creates plenty but accuracy by foot lets him down 6.0 STACK-how good BOG first start great all round game big effort very young like graham in 2017 how many games first year? 7.5. The only thing wrong with that (which is what I think will happen), is that all of Butler, Ellis, Castagna and Marcov will keep their spot.

Take 2 of the best back 6 from any team and it would be the same story. Once you have done that then take their 2 best ball carriers and users from their backline.

See how other teams handle that.

While your at it lets take out their best 2 forwards.
People forget Caddy nearly kicked 50 goals last year.

Also those 2 defenders are in the top 5 in the league for the position they play as well. It's not like we had Lynden Dunn missing.

Reckon we can carry George, every team has a one trick pony, problem is we seem to have more than one (Ellis, George, Markov and butler). The one asset (outside of pace and agility) he has over the other three is a decent contested mark.

Agree with most except lynch, I reckon our culture is what brought him to our club, and the boys know it. I reckon the rance/riewoldt loss is massive from an on field leadership point of view, both of them are the type of characters to make team mates more accountable and say enough of this lazy shit

You can’t replace class and experience with school boys, but on the culture debate I think it has changed. On your reasoning bringing Lynch in should have improved it, but we looked uninspired from the first game. The top tier players aren’t the ones that feel threatened by a big recruit as they’re on decent coin. It’s the rest who have to take pay cuts or stay on average wages to allow the big fish in. I maybe wrong, but we looked a million dollars last year from the practice games until the last month where we tapered off .
I thought bringing in Lynch would have had us looking a million dollars early on, but we’ve just looked lifeless.

Agreed. We should make at least 6-7 changes and sub them out.

Get games into RCD, Naish, Ross, Coleman Jones and Eggboy.. see what they've got.

We need to pump games into these kids now to keep us relevant over the next few years as our older mob start to fade out and retire.
