Autopsy Round 15, 2020: Hawks lose to the Crows

We brought in 3 players over 30 for this game.......

We're finding out about a few fringe players, like Cousins and Glass, but the balance still doesn't feel right. If we're going to be that poor, might as well be poor with kids for a view towards 2021
With lists being reduced in size for season 2021 I believe clarko is seeing who will still be there next season amongst the older group/journeyman.Expect at least 8 players turned over.

We are the worst team in the competition. A laughing stock.

Clarko has lost the players IMO.

He also completely overestimated the list, his poor game plan and the club's ability to get the best out of the list. Too stubborn to drop players that are so far beyond their used by date, or have repeatedly demonstrated that they were never ever up to it.

But guess what guys, we get to watch the same old dross all over again next week.

No matter what way you want to spin it, the blame falls on him.

Nah i have multiple times questioned our effort, we are a bottom 8 team but the runs teams get against us is due to effort.

i think its more due to lack of leadership than effort

my point isn't that i think we're giving 100% — we're not (though i wish it wasn't the truth honestly given the context of where the year is at it's hard not to empathise) but even if we were i think we wouldn't be able to stop teams getting on runs anyway

I'd hope that's not the case. The calls on the older blokes should be made by now.

And how do you make calls on Moore, Ross, Walker, etc without any games?

This is the result of poor decision making and list management for the last 5 years......
Clarko & co have destroyed this list with their delusions of another premiership.

Premiership credits should be well and truly run out for everyone.

I am sure i am in the minority that think this but Clarko should be coaching for his career at Hawthorn next season.

Oh I hate you have hated you since the 70's , i respect you but hate you.

For the first time ever we've the cue in the rack, there I was thinking we had 17th sown up and up you come and snatch an unlucky 'victory', which today is a defeat.
Anyone one of you wanting to dissect that game, should remember you didn't want to win. And I hate you for that. Can't we just have 17th? Please?
Oh hope my the fellow Vics are going okay, good luck losing for the rest of the season.🤦‍♂️

Look we kinda of knew this was happening all week.
When we saw the team selection we knew this result was happening.
We shouldn't be angry we picked a team to perform this performance.

I'm not that angry at the performance tbh with the cattle on the field it wasn't that bad, I'm only angry that I see absolutely no way forward except if we go to normal length quarters we suddenly come good again.

I see 2004 right now NOT 2005. I don't see two top 5 picks (plus 7 from memory whatever Lewis was) which we got to help improve us at best we may get one.

I see 18 teams not 16 which makes it harder on top of that, let alone having half the number of top five picks and well not even number two... just fiveish and not 7 either. (wow moved from spelling to numeric numbers.)

Tonight what did I see... end of the day a bit more out of Scrimshaw trying to take the game on. Actually apart from that TOB being our best backman the whole night in the last quarter... but nowhere near as good as Scrim overall on the night. I saw Minchington play his best game for us and I don't want him going forward really. I saw Scully because we we bereft of any run and carry make us look good when he had periods of goodness. I saw McEvoy try his heart out even though played out of position. (Geez didn't Riccuito keep saying McEvoy broke the record this year for hit outs to advantage and they still won't play him in the ruck! 30 times)

I heard Dermott say in the last there is the only Hawthorn player who was prepared to get hurt in a contest. That one hurts more than even if we lost by 100 points. I think he got it wrong slightly with the player but anyway.

I reckon Glass had more tackles in open play than the rest of our midfield combined. Not pack play when everyone is next to each other and I could get 20 bullshit tackles a game, but in open play.

I saw little else, Bruest double teamed all night as they know Lewis is useless and doesn't care, yet last year cared and looked useful, saw Gunston try to generate something out of nothing and almost get us back, til he needed to miss. Chad had periods where tbh he was a class above anyone on the field... but then they'd double team him too.

We now officially have the worst midfield in the league, I think even with JOM back we are only equal worst with this length of quarter. Smith though we are far better than then... but does that leave us second worst? hardly a big improvement.

Look the one thing I want out of tonight is Clarko to be honest at the press conference, if that's all I get out of tonight at least its showing that might realise their way forward is terrible this year.

Love this post and agree / feel exactly the same.

But i can live with that... Trying and losing is acceptable.

Lack of effort isn't, if they won't put in they should be dumped from the team. It isn't happening.

Honestly don't know how you people can muster up so much anger. We haven't played in a relevant game for close to two months, all this does is ensure we get a better pick. Many of these players won't even be on the list next year, it means nothing.
Spot on. Year finished a few weeks ago. Been wise enough to not watch last two weeks... thankfully

Can’t believe Stratton all smiles with his opponent after the game. You guys need to appoint Gunston as captain - tonight.

He's a terrible captain and was a terrible choice from the start. Great player and servant of the club for years, but it was apparent he was cooked last year and this year he's just taking the piss.

If telling it like it is, is abuse then god help us.

If you can't tell the difference between personal abuse and robust criticism of players, then you need to reconsider your priorities. Because - and I can't make this any clearer - if I see any abuse of players, the post gets deleted and the poster gets a day off.

End of discussion.

Have we done a deal with the AFL to play every team into form? Happens every week, the opposition can smell blood from our group early on and we die a little more by games end. Then they celebrate like we are top of the table.

Seriously, does anyone know what’s causing this cancer within our club right now. It’s not Individuals, it something larger - has to be!
My 2c...... Leadership. We have none - on or off field...

Stratts laughing with opponents is bad enough, but our leaders are now all too old to lead by example. None of them want to lead as a general ( like Hodge ) , except maybe Gunston.... Maybe the players are all too "nice", or troubled by being out of their comfort zone of the mcg... maybe.. But, most importantly, i dont believe our coaches are able to break them out of it, which is not surprising considering how our coaching stocks have been plundered..
