Round 4 Adelaide vs Carlton

havent had a chance to read through all the threads so sorry if im repeating old news.

very reliable source tells me that Thornton, Waite and Mclean will make room for Judd, Gartlett and White.

if this is true, not sure i agree with taking both thornton and waite out with bower still sitting on the sidelines. leaves Jamison and White as key backs. Surely after last weeks dabacle, ratten has learnt that walker is not a key defender.

Funny game coming up.

Adelaide have been horrendous. We're getting Judd back. Could we finally break our hoodoo? Can we go over there and fix up these Crows? Sure, maybe.

But I will laugh, and cry, if this is the game that kick-starts Adelaide's season and ends ours. Because when all signs point to a Carlton win... that's often not what happens.

I take it you missed Thornton's turnovers and lack of intensity in the last two rounds.

Considering he's a flanker, Walker mostly did well on Gumbleton who is a genuine KP height.

So what are you implying? That we drop Thornton for 2 bad games and keep Walker in the side?

I know who I'd prefer as a defender.

Besides, who are you gonna replace him with? A first gamer? Anderson? Ellard? That's a lot of experience to replace for 2 poor games. Jammo would have his work sure cut out for him...

Still remember saying we need to draft KPP tall fwds and defenders of quality and being laughed at ten posts to one!!

Well get used to the KPP defence/fwd pain going fwd for the next 3 years due to the time it takes to develop any...and we only have rookies which are long shots!!

We have no KPP quality depth to cover 1-2 omissions due to injury or bad form. And we have nothing in the wings except long shot rookies.

In terms of top four side KPP level quality, we have Waite (aging/injury prone), Jamison, Bower and a developing Henderson.

Setants and Thornton are at the backend and lack top 4 class. Maybe harsh on Thornton. Neither will be at the club along with Waite in our real shot at the premiership. Either that or right at the end and not at their peak.

Austin has to develop to give us any chance.

And if you think we can trade one in of quality, think GC/WS. At best we might luck out on a Gibson type but any elite tall would take the money on offer.

But lets recruit another 5-10 mids!

/sorry, end rant

If you calm down and use your comprehension skills which I'm sure you have, you were actually agreed with.

What you can't do is make them magically appear out of thin air :)

This draft pool is already shaping up as a better one for talls

Every defender has had bad games and a few kicked on them when they did nothing wrong, but you can't forgive a lack of intensity, leadership and second efforts. Even if they were beaten, Peter Dean, Hogg and Andy McKay would have smashed that hack Reimers.

Essendon won big after they made the right decision to drop Prismall, Davey, etc.

Ah selective rewriting of history. You were all for recruiting Talia, where is your evidence that he is of "quality"

Welcome back 30yblue. Missed your posts.

Obv i'm still pissed at the Bombers game a bit lol. If we towel up Adelaide this w/e, you and your cronies can post ad-nauseum about short sited posters on here who panicked in round 3.

Of course, i'll only have to wait 1-2 before it will be my turn again.

So Walker is to blame for Thornton's form because he gave him a bake? :D

Sounds silly doesn't it?

I have been and will be a supporter of Thornton for the efforts he has presented to our club, but one thing he is, as an individual, is impetuous.
I've used that term all too many times for him already, but he presents the ability to lose his cool more than anyone else in our side.

Walker is not to blame at all, but let's just say they did not look like comrades in war on Saturday night.

Drop Lucas and walker. bring in judd and bower.

Lucas didnt do enough and really doesnt fit in at carlton. imo he will get traded. walker looks slugish and asleep. doesnt look motivated or anything.

judd is not gonna change much, he will get the clearence out of the centre, look up and see either an Irishmen or a midget leading at him. they might take the mark on occasion but could they kick a goal?

goals on the run is the key to winning, because we are shocking at set shots at goal.

i know it sounds strange but what i heard was that he and ratts had a meeting and waitey said how hard he was finding it, and ratts is possibly sending back to the 2's to find some touch, so we'll see if he get named or not

Couldn't Ratts just play him in the backline, where he really played well last year to gain that confidence? All that's going to happen if he goes back to the Ants is he gets 40+ touches, and he's more than likely going to have the same confidence issues as he did when he comes back.

Thankyou oh wise one!

I love how you criticise the drafting of mids after we failed to hit a target last week. We should have put all our eggs in the Kennedy, Dowler, Hansen/Gumbleton and Davis baskets because we clearly didn't need the kicking skills of Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and Yarran. We should have planned to use Carrazzo, Walker, Scotland, Houlihan and Simpson as our finishers. ;)

You should be asked to give your input when the club rates the draft prospects in the future.

Lucas didn't get 40 disposals and kick 5 goals on debut as is expected of a first round draft pick - what a disappointment.

Trade him!

Wait...you were being serious, weren't you?

Think, then post...not the other way around.

What evidence do you have to support your suggestion that thinking was involved in the process at all? :)

Lucas - wtf?

Although, you're probably right on Judd seeing an Irishman and a midget

This.
I thought Lucas was ok against Essendon - certainly wasn't our worst. Looked like he needed to pick up the tempo of the game, but other than that, looked pretty good for a first gamer. Not a chance I would drop him for Saturdays game, and having Judd, and perhaps Hadley back in the side will only help him.
