They really smacked us in that first quarter.

You take that away and remove the scoreboard pressure and who knows what happens.

That said, we were terrible. Just some really dumb decisions, fumbles, etc. Looked flat as a tac outside of those 5 minutes.
Mate we were comprehensively beaten. But on the plus side, we need high picks. And plenty of them

Coach needs to learn how to make a move , throw The team around. It’s all structure, well at the moment, that structure is shit
not convinced on him, hope I’m wrong

Personally I would've chucked Maynard in there within the first 8 minutes. Just didn't have anyone willing to hunt the ground ball early.

If you break down quarters 2, 3 and 4 they really didn't do too much damage outside of that first quarter.

Sure we need KPF's, but we so need 3 AFL level midfielders its not funny.
Close to the worst performing midfield in the comp, so many things to get right.
The insipid opening totally unacceptable.
A truck load to get right before we contend.

I had high hopes for Tyler Brown. I was wrong.

I had low hopes for Callum Brown.

At least I am going at 50%, which is more than I can say for them.

Broomhead, who at least could kick and was one-touch says hi and wonders why he was given only one game after he broke his leg, while the Browns have been gifted what, 20?

I really hope our lack of pressure and intensity is still just a product of the flu, otherwise we’ve built a game plan that we can’t execute consistently.

Nevertheless, there are flashes of brilliance, but “bottom 6” really hurt us and often kill our momentum.

I can’t understand all the hate for Poulter and Henry in the game day thread. They will both be good players in my view, they just have a lot of development to go to get there.

Our midfield is a real problem. I think it’s time to put Maynard in there with De Goey and Crisp. Size, pace and mongrel. That’s what we need in there…. And Grundy back.

No point trying to patch up the midfield with stop gap solutions. We drafted a whole bunch of midfielders with high draft picks to start our rebuild in Macrae, Reef and Poulter. We need to start playing them.

The worst thing that can happen to us this year is if we go into next year with Macrae/Reef/Henry/Poulter still having less than 15 games of experience and still having to come up to speed with the game. Meanwhile C Brown/Cox/Madgen collect more games of experience and have no impact on us winning games.

Not a great result, but WB are miles ahead of us. Midfield smashed, think the Maynard into the midfield call is a good one, but he’s also one of our best defenders so hard choice to make. We were never going to be able to keep up the attacking football from the first month, history says the comp becomes more defensive and low scoring as the season progresses and bottom sides will feel that the most.

I’m not against giving Cox a run and playing him 80% ruck, will give us a better look than Cameron and Begg have so far. Hopefully McCrae gets another run, give him a few weeks to show something because he’s at the point where he needs to. Need a leading forward, hardly saw our forwards come at the ball when we did bring it down the ground with some momentum.

Hine needs to go and the list needs a massive clean out still.

C Brown, T Brown, Madgen, Murphy, Wilson, Chugg… all need to go.

I’m also not seeing it with Macrae and Poulter.

God we need a decent tall key forward.
Tonight’s result was a clear result of Hine’s inept recruiting. Soft, slow wingers who can’t defend, no key position talent for aerial relief, no contested ball winners in the middle, “defenders” who aren’t any good at defending etc.

Awful. All our flaws are exposed tonight.

Without Grundy in the middle we have no hope with clearances.

When can we see more of McCrae, Reef, Ruscoe. This needs to be a development year. Honestly sick of 70 game C.Brown be an absolute liability on field with 0 upside.
A lot of other teams have rubbish rucks for long terms as well. We had a good ruck and only broke even, certainly never walked it out of the middle like WB did to us tonight with their big gun ruck Jordan Sweet.

I reckon it’s more a reflection that we traded away so many top picks. Don’t get me started on the Beams deal.

he just sits back and let’s the game get away from us
he may be the best bloke ever, but I prefer my coach to have a hard edge, the warning signs for me was when I heard Brendon Bolton was joining him

im old school though, so

We only have our first this year, no second rounders, and then picks in the 40’s… yikes
We can probably package a bunch of those picks as points for one of Brisbane's higher picks.

I don't think we actually need much more in terms of the draft. Just need to nail the top 10 pick for a quality KPP.

We have the young talent on our list. We're just not playing them enough (Macrae/Reef/Poulter etc). It's development that we need and at the moment it still seems like the coaching group is preferencing experience even though C Brown's experience provides nothing.
