Autopsy Round 9 = Collingwood 51-99 Western Bulldogs

We played with no energy most of the game. It really peed me off, but I reckon it probably shows how much we have been stuffed by illness.

Our midfield was totally pansted. Totally and utterly destroyed from go to whoa.

I heard those idiots King and Mooney say that it was Moore’s fault. Seriously? We lost inside fifties 68 to 42 and it was way worse earlier than that.

We lost the game in the middle. I reckon our blokes were a bit knackered.
Moore was atrocious again. That ridiculous free he gave away when the ball was going out and he cannoned into the back of Naughton was so selfish and sloppy from someone with aspirations of leading this club. His body language has been shocking at times this year.

People are too preoccupied with strategies and the coach making the right moves. Who cares with all that shit. The players simply don't have the basic skills to carry out any strategies. Address the skills issue first, then worry about strategies.
Selecting the properly skilled players are coaching moves.

His body language was shocking at times last year as well, have no idea how anything thinks he can be the next captain.

McCreery's stats must have been pretty threadbare. He is another player I don't see making the grade long term. He looks OK with ball in hand and occasionally seems a clever player, but rarely touches the ball. Doesn't seem to have any real weapon other than his tackling, but went totally missing tonight.

Henry is probably the only young player who shows genuine promise. (EDIT - forgot Ginnivan) He does not project personality when interviewed and I am not surprised that he lacks confidence in himself on the field.

It's an indictment of our midfield that 8 Bulldogs led the disposals list, with Crisp, whose kicking left a lot to be desired, the best of our midfield.

The honeymoon with the coaching group is over. Too many senior players appear well below their best causing me to wonder if players are buying into the game plan and feel motivated.

Mr Park came with me to his one and only game for the year. Said the Pies team was almost ‘unrecognisable’ from last time he saw them. He’d never seen Henry, Begg, Poulter, Macrae, McCreery, Lipinski or N Daicos playing before tonight. I guess it provides some perspective.

Atrocious?

I’d say he lost one one on one battle in the forward 50 with him all night. The ball was slamming down all game.

I think he should move to defence. Could lock down small forwards and provide run the other way.

I mean we could talk about Henry, Poulter, Macrae, The Browns or Begg, but why not Josh Daicos? He was AWOL again. Adams is almost droppable he has been so horrid this year, Quaynor got beaten more time tonight than I have seen in a while and DeGoey has no idea how to defend.

To all the optimists out there, we need you now more than ever before. This is a putrid list going nowhere. Macrae has excuses, but he also has to own the fact not one player on our list looks better than they did last year or the year before that.

Brisbane, Freo and Melbourne build from defence first. Macrae has talked about nothing but ball movement and attack all year. It's heading for a disaster I think. Howe, Pendles, Sidebottom on the way out, Mihocek almost 30. Maybe Dean and Kreuger will be players, but that's just guess work at this stage. DeGoey, not worth anywhere near 700k. If someone wants to pay him, let him walk. It's not like he will be taking us to a premiership.

We are a very real possibility to be spooners in 2024, if not sooner. The talent in that 20 year old group is just not there....I know I said I wouldn't mention Macrae, but his performance tonight was absolutely woeful. Weak. Slow. Fumbling. His one kick was overshot. Could not have been worse. We really need a Dayne Beams/Steele Sidebottom sort of draft coming up. Some class guys that can play straight away.

Brown's play late in the third quarter when he first attempted a ridiculous tap rather than grab the pill, won it back with a fantastic tackle only to give it away a millisecond later said everything you need to know about Callum.
All that was missing was the Benny hill music

But he has been renowned for getting a defensive fist to balls delivered to players other than his opponent. He has shown zero dash and he seems to be devoid of any confidence. Naughton could easily have kicked a bag but fortunately dropped handful of marks he was in the perfect position to take. Darcy was lagging metres behind him on too many occasions.

Fair and balanced?

How did you come up with that username?

What’s shocking is how many players the dogs have injured compared with us. #Jesus

Really?

Johannisen
Bruce
Hunter
Vandermeer
Hannan
Wallis
Garcia
Darcy
O'Brien
English
McLean
Johnson
Grundy
Dean
Elliott
Roughead
Kreuger
Wilson
Kelly
Pendlebury
Ginnivan

That's 1 extra player by my count and losing Madge balances the ledger. Are you suggesting it's a quality differential? Not seeing that either. And I'd have thought a GF from last season should have better depth than us. We were still 4-5 months average younger than them and had 2 more <50 game players. Despite all that, we generated enough opportunity to be competitive, just didn't make the most of it.

Edit: Add Weightman to the Dogs, but withdraw Darcy. Add Harrison and Draper to the Pies list.

David King was smashing Moore, thought he was the biggest problem. Howe criticised again but very hard to defend against a shocking midfield.

Naughton seemed to be on one leg much of the night.

Naught was on one leg half the game kinda forgivable this time around. Still needs to lift
