... Richmond were incredibly beatable and we choked. ..
When we missed finals in 2019 Hinkley said that playing finals was overrated and just a sugar hit.

After reviewing the 2020 preliminary final loss to a finals hardened Richmond Hinkley said that he had identified that a lack of finals experience cost us the game.

The guy is a consummate snake oil salesman and the morning TV show buffoon continues to lap up this stuff.

As part of a wider defence of David Noble on 360 last night, David King made the point that coaches rarely survive rebuild phases, and that when you’re right down the bottom and acquiring premium pieces through the draft, you shouldn’t be judged on wins.

“Go on, name them. Clarkson at Hawthorn? Hardwick at Richmond? Hinkley at Port Adelaide? There are very few examples.”

Ah yes, the Hinkley ‘rebuild’ of inheriting a team brimming with first round talent in the sweet spot for age/experience to seriously contend for the next 5-6 years.
Sort of why I started this The Primus 26 thread at the end of 2013 trade and draft period after Hinkley had 2 trade and draft periods at the club.

16 of those 26 were core players in Hinkley's first 2 and 3 seasons at Port. Not much rebuilding there. Partly due to being at the bottom in 2010-12 when GC and GWS raided the best picks, and partly poor drafting as a result.

Boak, Broadbent, Carlile, Cassisi, Cornes, Ebert, Gray, Hartlett, Jonas, Lobbe, O'shea, Pittard, Schulz, Trengove, Westhoff and Wingard.

His tenure added the mainstays of Wines, Monfries, Polec, White, Hombsch and Neade in 2013 and 14 and then Ryder for 2015.

You're forgetting Hinkley's master rebuild in 2013 by trading in Lewis Stevenson and Campbell Heath and rookying Kane Mitchell.

Feel sorry for ken having to rebuild pordadelay with a rubbish list of;
  • travis Boak
  • Matthew Broadbent
  • Gus monfries
  • Hamish hartlett
  • Robbie Gray
  • Jackson trengove
  • Ollie wines
  • Tom clurey
  • Kane cornes
  • Chad Wingard
  • Matthew lobbe
  • Dom casisi
  • alipate Carlisle
  • Jay Schulz
  • Jasper pittard
  • Brett Ebert
  • Jack hombsch
  • Justin Westhoff
  • Aaron young
  • Tom Jonas

Yes sirree, no talent at all there, barely an SANFL side! Luckily we had the brilliant mind of ken Hinkley to turn these bunch of talentless hacks into afl players.

A real credit to Cameron, he put the club he loves before himself.
A few snippets of his departing words.

OUTGOING Greater Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron says the time is right to end his nine-season stint in charge

Cameron took the Giants to the 2019 Grand Final, and also secured victories in four other finals series.

But the club's results have slipped this season, with the Giants languishing in 15th with just two wins from their first eight games.

Speaking at a media conference at Giants HQ on Thursday morning, Cameron said it was a positive decision for the club.

"This is a good decision
, as much as it sounds hard, this is a good decision. The timing is right for our footy club to look for its next senior coach."

A respectable and measured choice by LC. Knows it's a hard job to take on 3-4 more years as coach. Realises he's done all he can.

The documentary a few years showing him spray the playing group showed his message wasn't getting through.

Ken on the other hand will vacuum every last cent out of Port before he leaves it burnt to the ground.

Alastair Clarkson looms large as Leon Cameron's successor at GWS but history suggests other will clamour for his services, writes Cal Twomey

Hedge looks nice, and impressive they've managed to fit a pool in that space, but you'd think he could afford a decent sized backyard.
He did well to fit a pool in that yard at all. The house takes up pretty much the whole of the block.

We've paid him about 6 mill or more and that dogbox is what he lives in? How much has he thrown away at the track again??
He paid $1M for that property in 2015. It's only half the original block but a double storey new build.

Bet you he still has to pinch himself to believe how he got kissed on dick to be earning the cash he is, know wonder he doesn't want to leave, can't say I blame him but the people that employ him should hang their heads in shame.
