yeah, Imagine if a crows player took a Wingard type mark in that same pocket he did.

They'd probably name the wing after him.

Yep PR Machine is in overdrive ATM

They've finally realized that Port has caught up and possibly overtaken them in the last few years and they are desperate to claw back that lost ground

- Eddie Betts hyperbole

- "Ground Balls" and "Coolers"

- Memes masquerading as news

...and this is just the tip of the iceberg

We have to win this weekend
The SA media have answered Fagan's call #balance

Who cares if they hype up Betts. He's a good player.
The memes thing on the other hand is exactly the sort of thing this thread is all about.

Good player yes, but not the second coming

I just hate the position this sh!t puts the Club in - we can't respond publicly cause we'll look petty but when we don't the silence is accepted as acknowledgement

Long term and sustained success is the only viable counter

It doesn't put us in any position. It just is what it is. How does a newspaper calling Eddie Betts the second coming of Tony Modra affect us? It doesn't. False rumours, scuttlebutt, and innuendo can have a detrimental effect however.

2 x separate statements from me there Finny

1st relates to EB

2nd relates to the rest as you have noted

... and anyway both in their own ways are designed to undermine us have no doubt

Finny's right. Who cares if the media pumps up the Camry's? It'll just make them look all the more stupid when they fall flat on their face. At the minute, it only serves to deflect from the fact that Danger and Sloane still haven't signed.

This is about the biased publication and broadcast of what can only be described as slander against Port. From broadcasting information based on innuendo and faux information, to publishing meme's taking pot-shots; the SA's media's coverage of all things PAFC is a disgrace.

Doesn't bother me that they pump up their own: it makes it that much sweeter when the team inevitably falls short in important matches. I look forward to the tears when they lose to the Giants.

Just curious, but does this kind of shit happen in Perth?
Do the Eagles get pumped and the Dockers get media crap, or is this a soufastraya thing?

In a word, no. It's definitely pro-Eagles but a lot of that is because the media is full of dinosaurs that have been there since before the Dockers even existed. It doesn't have the same vitriol that it does in SA because of the different history of teams entering into the AFL in each state.

Exactly. There was no 1990 type of event, no one team that all the others loved to hate. Arguably the strongest WAFL rivalry was between East and South Fremantle, but (in theory) they came together for the Dockers entry to the AFL, although a lot of Fremantle people thought there was more Claremont than Fremantle in their original set up.

Freo's comical early years under Neesham, with his 'water polo' style game plan, followed by the hapless Damian Drum and blarney boy Chris Connolly led to derision in the WA media, but there's no pathological hatred as you see in SA. Perhaps the worst media atrocity inflicted on the Dockers by a West Coast old scholar was when Adrian Barich informed Drum that he had been sacked before Freo's board had told him - although that's more of a condemnation of the board than Barich, and many Dockers supporters would have been relieved at the news anyway.

Another expert on the Anglo-Saxon side of the English language.
Would this of been written by someone with at least year 12 English & an aspiration toward journalism? Add a moderately paid editor & grammar check software & no one picked up this common slip?

They've given up caring.

Additionally, are B Jarman's team mates writing the comments?
