Re: The Trade Thread

Mitch Clarke: Nah. Don't like the guy. Had a great season as a ruckman a few years back and then decided he didn't want to be a ruckman anymore so he now plays forward and goes missing too often for my liking. Talented player but no thankyou.
Him moving out of the ruck to the forward line may have had something to do with Leunberger coming back from an injury that had kept him out for 2009 allowing Clark into the ruck.

Re: The Trade Thread

As far as players players rumoured to be traded goes, I'd throw a bit at Dangerfield and Clarke.

We need to land a big fish. I'm sick of picking up C graders.

Re: The Trade Thread

"We think next year (Tom) Ledger, (Jamie) Cripps and (Arryn) Siposs are going to be very good players for us," Lyon said on Triple M.

"But at the end of the year we will probably cut and cut relatively hard I suppose and get another batch in.

"It's not Armageddon ... but we understand our list has got to evolve."

Heard this interview. Fantastic stuff from Ross.

I would be very worried if I was Eddy, McQualter, Smith, Heyne, Cahill, Johnson...

He also mentioned that Walsh almost played in last night's game but will certainly get games over the next couple of weeks.

Re: The Trade Thread

Bernie Vince: Do want - I like Bernie. Had injury problems in the past, and had a poor year but he was great in 2009/10. Saints always send a tag too him because he can be really damaging. I really like Bernie.

Chris Knights: Probably would cost too much. I like him as a player, and as a guy who distributes well and play forward and midfield he would suit us well. But he is injured way to often to pay what they would be after.

Mitch Clarke: Nah. Don't like the guy. Had a great season as a ruckman a few years back and then decided he didn't want to be a ruckman anymore so he now plays forward and goes missing too often for my liking. Talented player but no thanks.

The word on Vince is that he has a degenerative knee condition ala Cooney. May have seen the best of him.

Knights only signed a new deal with the Crows last year so I'm not sure he'd up for grabs.

In fairness, Clark was thrown into the ruck as a last resort due to injuries and played wonderfully. With Leuenberger back up and running, he's quelled this somewhat. He's capable.

Re: The Trade Thread

No.

Clarke requested to not be the #1 ruck anymore.

Umm I might be mistaken but I'm fairly sure that isn't that case.

Leuey came back from injury and was allowed the number 1 ruck role (as he should be, he will be a better ruck then Clark), and Clark was moved to the forward line as a result (with the occasional stint in the ruck obviously).

What you may be confused with is that since then Clark has come out and stated his preferred position is key forward and not as a first ruck, but he didn't specifically request to be moved from the ruck, forcing us to move Leuey there. Leuey is our first choice for first ruck.

Also it's Clark not Clarke. Anyway, sorry to intrude, continue.

Re: The Trade Thread

I reckon we go after Taylor Walker pushing Kosi out of the side, playinng Tommy Walsh as a backman/second ruckman.

Nah, man, thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

You're more than welcome to 'intrude' if you post like that! :thumbsu:

Haha good to see a team board where you can post (sensibly) on and not be yelled at just for supporting another team.

Just to clear something up though, although Clark didn't request not to be the #1 ruck anymore, he definitely still has attitude problems/trouble working as part of a team and not as an individual. He seems to lack interest often and will really only put in 100% if he's playing as the main focus (ie - #1 ruck or #1 key forward). As he would be neither of those things as St Kilda (I would assume) then I'd have to say IMO he'd be a bad fit for your club. But I suspect it's all irrelevant as it's highly likely he'll be at GWS or a WA based club next year.

FWIW if the Saints were still interested it seems he'd be asking somewhere around 600k a year from what I've heard on the Brisbane board. We recently signed Rich and Leuey (who most rate as more important to the club going forward) for 400-450k a year each, so it's unlikely we'd give Clark that much cash (that and he's not worth it).

You dont think that we could convince him that number one rucking forward is a rare and important role in todays game.
Bugger it, with Riewoldt's goal kicking he can be number one if he puts his money where his mouth is.

Re: The Trade Thread

Jacob Surjan: We have too many of his type of player

Jesse White: I dont think Sydney will part with him and I dont think he is good enough

Hamish McIntosh: I don't think he is worth the risk

Danyle Pearce: Yes please. Shouldn't cop a tag in our team and could add some pace and dash to the side

Patrick Dangerfield: Would love him but NO chance.

Mitch Clark: Should be our number one trade target but it will be hard to match the riches of GWS.

Taylor Walker: Maybe. Bit too erratic for my liking.

I reckon he'd be a great fit for you guys, struggled as a no1 fwd but he wont be that at your club.

Re: The Trade Thread

WTF - a 2nd and 3rd rounder only??? This guy is a gun!

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/suns--the-gun-crows-may-lose-tippett-20110809-1ikxx.html

It has emerged that Tippett kept his options open when he committed to the Crows on a massive three-year deal at the end of 2009, insisting upon a clause that would allow him to move to the club of his choice at the end of next season. Adelaide, which was desperately keen to retain the young star, is understood to have agreed to a deal where it would receive a second- and possible third-round draft pick for Tippett.

They have the choice of trading Tippett at the end of this year to the Suns for one or two of Gold Coast's young crop of teenage stars, or potentially losing him to the same club at the end of 2012.

Jesus Adelaide are getting rooted by the expansion clubs.

I can't believe Adelaide would agree to such a deal in the first place. They weren't going to contend and it might have been a key factor in helping to convince Taylor Walker to stick around.
