I can’t see Melbourne trading 6 out. We have a history of trading up or into drafts not out of them. I feel Curtin May go before our pick. If not then I want him at 6.

Agreed. I can’t see you guys trading 6 for our F1 - I think the response will be if WCE want pick 6 then use this years first not next years

Whether or not you take Curtin at 6 I’m less sure of but it wouldn’t surprise if you did. You’d know what your list needs are far better than I do

Also, we can trade into the first round if we want!

What if we finish 12th, is doesn't take much to improved 6 positions or slide 6 positions. Then it's 6 for 4.

At worst it's 1 for 4, maybe with a F3 coming back.

Lastly, what if Curtin delivers and becomes the smooth moving wingman/3rd rebounding tall?

lol. No one else is going to take our sh*t picks and most don’t want to trade next years first. We’re a bit hamstrung. Instead of criticising, offer up what you would have done that’s realistic.

And p.s 23, 37 and f2 for Geelongs 8 ain’t happening

Mate, I've consistently suggested that both Crows (20) and Blues (22) should of been targeted due needing points next year

Blues 22 for 37 and F3

• Archie Roberts is one. No idea who else
• Club want to trade down but tons of competition makes it hard. Will try within reason but out of our control etc. Alot depends on Gold Coast bids + what happens with Norths picks 17/18 too
• Club wants a veteran leader for the WAFL B team which is why Lycett is being discussed. No idea who will be plan B after that but would expect we find someone. I dont 100% think they would be on our primary list or rookie list though. We can sign them outside of that to be the captain of it...
• Edwards was one of the 4 who went to Dubai for the 2 weeks for medical testing etc. Some very basic issues were found which alarmed the board. Type of shit a doctor in year 1 of sport science would spot. Club is ropable
• Eagles got the redundancies for the numpties we sacked in the "fitness" dept outside of the salary cap so that is helpful

He should have had a tailored fitness program from day one but didnt. Didnt pass the eye test in doing the running numbers he was doing and what not. Fitness staff most lilkely saw him on the rookie list and were just too lazy to spend time with the guy and invest any effort into it really.

I'm glad we gutted the department then. This goes a long way to explaining how our injuries got so bad.

Amazing that this is what happened.

Now this can happen in organisations when there are widespread cuts as we saw. Staff get disillusioned and subconsciously do not do best job they can. “Not my job; well if you wanted it picked up, you shouldn’t have cut hard” sort of thing.

We have to clear out those unwilling to move forward.

It's pretty much what he does though. Plays as a loose defender, gathers the footy and distributes effectively. I really like his kicking style as it's not just a highlights package. 75%-80% efficiency by foot is really good for a defender and probably what he sits at.

To me though the fact that he doesn't do a lot else is why i'm staggered he's rated so high. Defends 1 on 1 fine but the rest of the time he's manufactured as a spare and doesn't have a lot of effect with it.
For a tall he's poor overhead, doesn't seem overly athletic & can't play forward. As a mid he is almost exactly Sheed, waiting for the extraction instead of smashing things with his size.

For a non bias view when investigating numbers for all positions it roughly paints him as (in a standard draft):
Fwd: Undraftable
Mid: 15-40
Key Def: 20-40
Gen Def: 15-25

This year is a bit weaker so you can bring numbers in maybe up to 5 places for an idea.

Keeping it really simple from a comparison perspective, Curtin plays multiple roles like Harley does. how do you rate Harley (in a standard draft) as
Medium forward
Inside mid
Balanced mid
Wing
Running half back
Lock down defender

If true, that's horrific and clearly explains why we needed the clear out.
Hopefully they new guys can get them on the park and back on track.

Ryan Daniels believes an element of the club believes we should be trading the pick.
I’m not sure how decision making works here, whether using the pick or trading the pick needs board sign off. I presume using the pick is solely down to Pieman and Duane Massey, but the trading element could be contentious as I believe someone on here with credibility claimed picks of a certain value require approval from the hierarchy to be traded.

Makes my blood boil every time I see norths draft hand comparative to our own knowing we went into this with a superior position to them yet due to AFL ery north are now taking 5 first rounders. What a ****** disgrace of an assistance package.

I can guarantee you the media commentary next year will be west coast still bad should have split pick one, needed more talent expecting us to sacrifice elite talent in a system where Gold Coast and North are getting free hits at first rounders on top of their existing picks despite being better than us.

End rant.

I’ve been pretty annoyed by the positioning of our second pick which we haven’t moved as a club but looks destined to come in at pick 29 live which in theory should be pick 19 but isn’t due to the “complexity” ( Laura Kane) of the draft rather than the it’s compromised nature.

In terms of Nth it’s really only pick 17 & 18 that’s an AFL hand out. I can see why that gets people upset however if the Eagles continue to perform as badly as the last two seasons then we may be receiving something similar in the near future.

Pick 15 (really should be a top 10 pick) is part of Ports compensation for losing JHF which probably isn’t a great result for Nth seeing it’s pick 8 & 15 that Port gave up in the end. Robbery for a kid that was pick one the year before.

Pick 3 is Nth working the system which every other club in the same position would do, including us.

I get why people are angry/annoyed with Nth but really at the end of the day the “complexity” of the draft is the AFL’s doing due to Father Son, Academy and Free agency rules that all need an overhaul.
