Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

Ryan Daniels is an absolute boot licker who writes pointless fluff. There are posters on BF boards who know ten times more about footy than he does (usually because they worked in the industry) and write interesting posts evaluating players strengths and weaknesses in detail, giving coherent and insightful descriptions of game plans of various teams etc and those posts educate most of us on here on things we didn't notice or know. Ryan Daniels is paid to be a sports journalist specialising in AFL. It is his job to try and get to this level of knowledge but he is nowhere near it. He doesn't know anymore about footy than the average fan sitting in the stands. Nor does he ever break stories.

He writes an article today saying it will be masterstroke and prove the genius of the people running the club if we trade our F1 for pick 7 and get Curtin, but come Tuesday morning if Curtin was there at 7 and we had the chance to trade our F1 and take him and we blinked and didn't take it he would do a total 180 on the spot and write another article saying it was an act of genius by the people running the club that we didn't take the deal.

I like him. I remember when he used to write for afl fantasy (dreamteam) back in the day. I sat on a panel with him and the traders boys one year and he seemed like a pretty knowledgeable bloke. Seemed to know fantasy and it’s easy to pick people who know what they’re talking about.

Incidentally got a personal email from Twomey on Thursday.
Yeah, that's my one claim to fame.

How personal?

Imagine Liam Ryan & Collard as your half fwd's or playing out of the square taking hangers. Will be a highlight reel. Ol Darling better get out the way they be taken turns on his shoulders. Brockman can take hangers too..

Ryan, Collard, Brockman, Cripps.
Not a bad quartet of Small/Mid Sized Fwds.

Pretty confident he is the next Roo Matera when he fills out a bit more. Probably ends up on the wing. Remember when Fremantle said Andrew McLeod was too skinny. Yea let's not be like Fremantle.

Yet defence wins flags...every time.

Does it? Based on what exactly? AFL is won and lost by quantity and quality out of middle. You defend well by creating pressure on the ball carrier and conceding less inside 50s.

This year Collingwood were 6th for scoring shots per inside 50 conceded and Brisbane were 11th. Once it entered either teams 50 neither were elite at stopping scores.

Now do those stats on the last 10 grannies.

It would certainly be interesting to look at and might commit to it later. When I have looked previously defense certainly dominated and thats how we won our flag.

Just quickly looking at 2022 and 2021. Geelong were 2nd and Sydney were 5th for scoring shots conceded for inside 50s. On the flip side they were 1st and 2nd for scoring shots per inside 50. Melbourne were 1st and bulldogs 6th for defence. For attack they were 1st and 2nd.

So in 2021, 2022 and 2023 attack was more important.

The new rules over the last few years, overall trend in the game and those stats suggests that we are moving away from it.

Disagree I have mail that a deal in principle is done

I don't have intel on what that looks like tho

NM are also circling on Collard with 18 so getting in front of them with 16 would be amazing

Turning F1 and 23 into 7, 16 and F1 would be a master stroke and we should build ROB a statue. Even if we finish last it will be 1, 23 for 7, 16, 15, hardly dooms day

Finish 15th and its 4, 23 for 7, 16, 15
I don't think we need to, he's a flight risk. Buyer beware, we'll get him back in a year or Dorkers.

Who is F1 for 7 unfair for?
GWS takes on risk of a F1
Eagles get player they rate high early.

Obviously I'd love more back but realistically would you give up Curtin for 5 or so spots in the 20s?
Not that risky, did you see us last year. At worst pick 2 for you guys.
