Haven't read much about Hunter, actually. I know he's been training fully and hasn't had any preseason hiccups, but I'm none the wiser in terms of what role he'll play in 2023 - especially with Ross now at the helm. If I had to guess, I think he'll slot into Hill's role off half-back, with...
Green is a great shout and one I haven’t really considered for some reason. He can definitely free up some cash if we need to bolster other areas on the ground, D3 for example. I started with him last year, and the two things that held him back were his rotations forward (thanks, Leon) and his...
G'day gents, good to be back and looking forward to another season of injuries, unforeseen substitutes and late outs!
This is the team I'll take into the preseason games - $96k in the bank, and bench rookies are placeholders until debuts are confirmed.
Couple of points I'll be mulling over...
A sneaky POD to keep an eye on is Luke McDonald. 601k, scored 109 against the Hawks in a loose half-back role.
Took a heap of intercept marks, which he won't do every week, but he's a shoe-in for DEF status in round six.
Original plan was McInerney -> Foley, bench red dot -> Skinner, but this COVID breakout at the Eagles has me spooked. I don't think I have the confidence to pick Foley even if he's named, as there's a good chance he'll go into isolation over the coming weeks, or even before the game on Sunday...
I'd be moving on Ridley ASAP. Role just isn't there this year, and he's going to bleed cash.
I'd look at Hough to 190k rookie (Skinner looks like a great option, and you can do it via Brodie's DPP), Ridley to Houston. Gets an underperforming mid-pricer up to a potentially top-six defender, and...
Insane! I'm one of the few that still don't have him, so an extra week to trade him in is handy.
Also might benefit those who can replace him with Hayes in their forward line.
Started on the wing but moved back after McPherson went down, where he started finding more ball. Same role he had at the Swans, basically. The fact he scored more after shifting out of the midfield (which is where we all thought his scoring would improve) is slighting concerning, IMO.
Tucker looks good, but is his role dramatically different from what he's done in the past? If he's just playing off half-back again, I don't see him exceeding his career-high average of 72, which isn't quite enough to justify picking him.
The only caveat to this is if Fremantle have adopted a...
Brodie doing everything he needs to do. Rachelle tracking well, though his reliance on goals is a concern going forward. Crouch is exactly on pace to hit his BE of 77, but he needs to hit 80+ to make the pick worthwhile.
Mainly happy about the players in this one I chose to fade - Dawson...
Depending on their performances today, maybe down to Milera or up to Dawson?
I'm expecting debuts from Sinn, Skinner and possibly Wilmot next week, which will relieve some pressure in the backline. O'Driscoll has to be a chance, too.
Getting Nick Martin in is the priority, as well as suring up my bench in defence. I’m hoping Gibcus keeps his spot, and if TSK is only out with concussion I’ll probably hold him too. I’ll have to shuffle F5 and F6 around to get Hayes and Martin on field.
Going to give Short, Whit and McInerney...
Having Dixon as your utility might be a good play now that Hayes is a superstar. If you’re running Gawn and Grundy, it’ll allow you to flick him into F6 next week.
Rachele vs. Xerri is giving me nightmares.
Rachele is a pure talent and has all the job security in the world, but the forward pocket is a graveyard for first year players.
Xerri could be a top shelf cash cow if he gets decent minutes in the ruck. Seeing him named in the forward pocket is...
Glad I restructured my team to get Gibcus in. ☹️ In all seriousness though, just having the money squared away on my bench provides so much flexibility going forward, even if the player scores poorly. Hopefully O’Driscoll debuts soon.
That first quarter was awful, fantasy-wise. I’m expecting...
Any Eagles fans wanna take a punt on who'll debut this weekend, and comment on their job security / scoring potential? Going to be plenty of opportunity...
The rucks are unique because Gawn and Grundy are a cut above among a relatively small pool of players, in terms of both price and output. If you take a punt on a Witts or a Darcy, for example, and they underperform, you either have to downgrade to a cheaper ruck (who will probably represent even...
Really? Mature-ager, former No. 1 pick, intercept defender. Good form in the AAMI, and only has to average 52 to outperform his BE by 20.
Again, not the sexiest pick, but I reckon he has the same amount of upside as, say, a Chapman, but at $140k less.
I had the exact same line-up after the AAMI games but have since moved away from it. I just don't love the idea of having three mid-pricers (four if you count Chapman) in the same line. If a few underperform at the start of the season, you'll be forced to burn trades at a critical point in the...
I think the general feeling is that Whitfield and Short are underpriced and thus represent value, while Lloyd is expected to average around his 98 price point. He didn’t look particularly enticing during the practice games, either.
There’s an argument to be made that Dawson’s departure might...
