What's his history, given that he is only sometimes selected, will he be any good? Is he much further along than Macca?
He is diff to macca.. he is a f/t ruckman, macca is part/time forward as well..

with kingy 29
gardi finished
and kosi...meh

time for another ruckman - warnock-macca = 10 year players if they come good...

i mean, van reenan? how is he going? haretuku?? cant see much coming from there.. MUST chase warnock..surely we can trump melbournes offer of $3.50 and that he wont have to share a locker with his brother

i beleive melbourne also offered him a double pass to Gold Class annually, on inspection it was identified that they were not double passes, nor were they to gold class, it was a half price regular movie ticket, but melbourne are standing by there offer and have told warnock that its still on the table:rolleyes:

Blake McGrath will hopefully go alright, got a few BOGS with the NSW/ACT side.

Haven't seen enough of Warnock to comment on him.
Yeh ok but we can hard pin ou hopes on a NSW scholarship player... Warnock will be a solid ruckman, do his bit, very capable of holding his own.

Must, must chase him.. Next years ruck can be him/kingy and we can ease macca into it while playing him FF.. and FFS send kosi CHB (if we havent traded him), goose to FB (if he is fit) maxy where he wants and gives us a ft middy in BEEEJAYYYY.. see where im going with this?

I am a Melbourne supporter & it is going to be many years before we are ready to challenge for finals and then hopefully a premiership.
Bailey said that he wouldn't give up our first three draft picks that we have but I'm sure he would be open to the idea of trading picks 17 & 19 or one of them along with a player to boost ourselves higher into the first round.

My intial thoughts were to use teams (Bris, Nth, Adel) that have already finished there season but for the sake of this argument lets go with two different scenario's. Saints lose this week & Saints losing next week. That would give you draft picks somewhere between 11 & 14.

For example:
We trade pick 17 & Green or Bruce to either Brisbane, North, Adel or Saints.

in return

We gain pick 7(Bris), 9 (North) 10 (Adel) 11, 12, 13 or 14 (Saints) along with a third round selection being 41(Bris), 43 (North) 44 (Adel) 45, 46, 47 or 48 (Saints).

We get an earlier 1st round pick along with a mid range 3rd round pick, to go with our priority of getting young talent

You gain a late 1st round pick, a very good versatile established player in your quest for premiership glory who has at least 3 - 4 years left in them.

Any thoughts??

Green will win your B and F this year so I couldn't see him getting traded. Bruce is a frontrunner and is not as good as he once was. Thanks, but no thanks.

I wouldn't be so sure. It does look like Green will win the B&F but I think Melbourne would take an earlier 1st round pick for him. If Melbourne was willing to make the trade would you be interested.

Also, I think it would depend what number your first round pick is. Say it was 11 or 12 I think a downgrade to pick 17 would be fair but if your 1st pick is 13 or 14 I think it would be fairer to downgrade your pick to 19.

If that was on the table would the Saints be interested?

Nope.

Andrew Lovett would be a good addition, but considering our picks, a third-rounder will be all I would give. Remember, last year, Schneider and Dempster were only worth pick 26, and with Lovett, it's a buyer's market.

Our first rounder will probably be 11-14, second rounder 29-32, third rounder 45-48, & fourth rounder 61-64.

We can't get Kerr without giving something decent up, however Cousins may be a good pick at pick 63. I don't think we can pick up both Cousins and Lovett though.

A good KPD with our first rounder, and probably another ruckman with our second rounder, considering M Gardiner is going to call it quits.

A few kids who i hope we go for on draft day:

1st Round: (11,12,13,14)

Jackson Trengrove - CHF/CHB/Ruck
Touted as a potential top 5 pick but succumbed to hamstring tendonitis. Do we take the gamble? Extremely versatile, could fill some big holes.

He takes 2 huge leaps from 1:15, standing on top of the guys shoulders.

Mitch Robinson - Midfield/Wing
Very atheltic, pacey, ball winner, inside and outside, penetrating right foot. Could be what we're looking for.

Lewis Johnston - KPP
Has the tank to run in the midfield and the KPP abilites to go forward. Similar to Adam Goodes and Chad Cornes. Good be a very valuable player. Does have discipline issues though.

2nd Round: (29,30,31,32)

Michael Walters - Bp/Fp/Mid
Exciting, goal kicking pocket player with pace, skills are good but can play a little bit outside, but also knows how to find his own ball.

Tom Lynch - Utility
Tall player who can go all ends of the ground as well as in the midfield. Has got footy smarts, was touted as a definite 1st rounder before getting a knee reco.

Jordan Lisle - KPP/Fwd/Back
Another KPP option that can go both ends. Is a strong mark but his agility is questionable. Would consider taking him if we take a mid with our 1st pick.

Rhys O'Keefe - Hbf/Bp
Small backman to replenish our small defenders stocks. Bakes isn't getting younger, Dempster just done a knee. Could release Gram from the defence. Gets alot of the ball off the half-back line, has good skills, got good pace and can read the play.

Jamie Sheehan - Mid/Hf
Looks to be an exciting prospect. Listed as a tough, in and under player. Knows how to tackle, good pace, can win a clearance and go up forward and crumb off the big forwards. Down side to his game is that his kicking can let him down as he is not a very long kick. Also a bit small, height wise.

Really guessing here...

3rd Round: (45,46,47,48)

Alex Silvagni - Fb/Chb
Essendon have been circling, we've shown interest too. But do we take him this early? Shown he can beat most of the AFL listed forwards in the VFL. Ready made backman who can take the 3rd backman. Has had a great year at Casey Fields, but the question has got to be asked, can he cut it at AFL level?

Ben Cousins - Midfield
Superstar....

Paul Cahill - Forward
Athletic forward with a huge vertical leap. 192cm, athletic...next buddy franklin perhaps? ;):D

Tom Alwight - Mid/Back
Good reader of the play, reasonable pace and composed under pressure. Good in close, nice kick and a good mark.

Michael Still - KP
Classy, Athletic KPP with strong hands. Bottom aged. Could be a good late pick up.

Jarred Redden - Ruck
At 202cm he moves around pretty well, is more defensive than offensive. His pressure is good and has nice hands.

4th Round: (61,62,63,64)

Patrick Hayes - Utility
Absolutley explosive pace, blows opposition lines apart. Former state hockey player so his skills aren't the greatest but he has shown a ton of improvement. If he continues to improve he could be a very good pick up.

Lance Daly - Ff/Chf/Fp
Has a very good work ethic and continued to present. Just going on profiles but has good goal kicking instincts and has footy smarts.

I'd add Sam Blease CHBench. Potential first rounder I think with pace to burn.

I'd much prefer key position players for both picks.

Max Hudgeton - Limited future. Maguire - future unsure.
Leaves us pretty thin for taller backmen. Silvagni may be serviceable as a spare player or someone to play on the third best forward, and we could play him right away, But he is unlikely to develop into a top level player.

Also in the forward line , Kosi is not working out too well at the moment and although we have confidence there is no assurance that Allen or Macca will make the grade as a goalkicker.
Gwilt and Charlie Gardner are average at best and may not progress any further.

If we end up with too many tall backs/forwards on the list, they are the type of person that can be traded.

So I like the idea of Trengrove or Robinson.
I also like the idea of

Also like the idea of walters/lynch for second round.

I think we are paying too much for Silvagni at third round , but he may not be there after Essenden in the fourth round.
Paul Cahill sounds good. Cousins? It depends how much he is asking for. I would be opposed to him getting paid more than , Nick R, Sam F , Max H, Luke Ball, Lenny etc. It can upset the applecart.

Patrick Hayes sounds great for fourth pick. If he had a background in footy his lack of skills would be a concern. But being relatively new to the game means he may still develop them.

:)
