Yeah, there is most definately going to be some serious sheckles available soon.

On a separate not I have my fingers crossed Tex stays on the books for 1 more season after this at his current level of play or there abouts.

He needs 116 goals to clip Wayne Carey (727) to enter the top 20 of all time. That's my new target for him.
Will depend on form next year and if he tails (pun intended) off.
If he doesn't and has a good year overall (e.g. 50 to 60 goals) then yeah probably does go around again and just needs to be a 40 goal player in 2025 to make a difference to our chances that year (hopefully a few other list improvements in between).

If the draft next year is so full if gun mids..

Then who’s gonna want to trade out of it just so we can get in front of any potential bid on tyler?..

Current phantom drafts have him at pick 3..
Honestly Tyler will have to have a truly dominant SANFL season and even moreso a dominant Nationals to go that high in what is truly a top end stacked quality midfielders draft. Remember Tyler is not ever going to be in the 198 -202cm forward category, his 20m timed speed testing is what could set him apart if he repeats that at the Combine.

Unless it is for a future second round pick, which might be useful I guess with Welsh next year on the points front, dont see how this gets down with GWS only having the following selections: 6, 15, 53, 71, 73, 89?
I don't see how we get a 2nd round pick, future or otherwise, for a guy who has played 41 games in 6 years. Career best 14 goals from 11 games in 2022. 3 games for 1 goal this year. He's never going to be better than depth at any club in the league. Contracted or not, GWS aren't going overpay for a player like this.

If it was the other way around and we were looking at bringing him in from GWS, would we be happy to give up a 2nd rounder?

I highlighted the pick that will get it done
I wouldn't be so sure about that for a contracted Elliot Himmelberg especially if we can't bring in some proven AFL tall depth.

Anyone that watched Elliot's last half of the season could see why the GWS have interest with him clunking marks and more importantly his ruckwork was sublime with his HTA off the charts. I'd go so far as to say Elliot going down with his hammie cost us a real chance at making the SANFL grand final.

Edit : Preuss never gets on the ground and O'Keefe who has played 13 AFL games this season is 34 next season and may retire by the sound.

Contracted Berg and 9 for 6:think:

Ahh Trade Radio. A station that at some stage says every player is rumoured to be traded somewhere and they then spend the next few hours completing playstation trades. Basically they may as well have called it bigfooty radio.
It is total shit. Listened a few times, gave it a go, but could only stomach listening for a short while. Never again.

I'll be so irritated if he goes to GWS and ends up being a mobile and tap ruckman that can kick goals...

If he was out of contract, agree with you 100%. But he isnt. In a scenairo like this we dont have to do the deal at all..so I would have thought future 2nd is most likely?

Berg is so frustrating. At best he is very good. Unfortunately, he just goes walkabout for too long in other matches.

Yeah but this isn't some star of the competition that GWS are super keen to bring in and will pay overs to prise out of our club. He won't be best 22 there, he'll be depth, just like here. If they can't get him for fair value they'll just go for some other fringe tall from some other club. You're right that we don't have to do the deal, but nor do they. They won't overpay.

What about Flynn - they haver Briggs and Flynn as rucks

Yeah what about him?

He hasn't got the versatility that Elliot has, he's a ruck and that's it....Why do you think once Briggs came in veteran Lachlan Keefe was preferred.

About the only thing that makes sense. Feels like a weird list management pivot though.

Maybe we literally need to spend some salary cap $$ this offseason
If that's the case, though, I assume we'd be throwing that money at GC for some kind of salary dump as part of an effort to get their pick 4. Eg the Chol and / or Burgess talk that has been going around seems to make more sense.

Has the 33 year old Lachlan Keefe been depth the 2nd half of the year? That's obviously the role they're looking at for Elliot I'd think
