Complete fantasy to even think about this trade. But if it had potential, surely we’d have to be putting Lairdy up for sale? Not only for currency, but how are we fitting Laird, Crouch, Dawson, Oliver in midfield and also developing our younger mids?

Who cares about the future if you could have Laird, Dawson, Oliver, Crouch, Pedlar, Soligo and Rachele feeding our forward line.

I believe this to be legit. Jordan Lewis on RSN was the first to break this news without naming the player.

This isn't a SEN beat up, he's gettable.

He is gettable in the sense that every player is theoretically gettable for an astronomical offer.

Melbourne should fold their club before trading Oliver in the middle of a premiership window.

The only acceptable deal would be an elite best 22 player AND picks on top of that. He's worth more than pick 1. No club will offer that and it will go nowhere. And if they accept less than that they may as well fold.

What we don't know is whether Melbourne have initiated discussions, or whether other clubs approached Melbourne after seeing Oliver annoyed at that physio on the news. If Melbourne didn't initiate it, there's nothing to the story at all. All clubs would be open to "the right offer" for all of their players behind the scenes.

Fair enough. I think we’d still need to put someone up for trade though, and Laird probably still has decent currency

Red Horse

Red....red hair....Ginger.
Horse.....horses are ridden by jockeys....jockey.....Damian Oliver....Oliver

put them together...ginger Oliver....

Clayton Oliver

i think a few people owe redhorse an apology.

So the report goes:

Melbourne is open to trading star midfielder Clayton Oliver, with rival clubs already enquiring about his availability.

The response these clubs received has left the door ajar for the four-time best and fairest to depart Melbourne in the trade period, according to two sources with direct knowledge of discussions.

But the Demons will not allow their gun on-baller to leave for anything less than what they believe he is worth, given he is contracted until the end of 2030.

So clubs asked Melbourne and Melbourne responded with "only for what he is worth [which is a lot]".

The answer that any club would give when asked about their best contracted players

Dawson + Oliver (assumed everything goes well) is literally the one-two mid punch everyone’s been crying out for

For a team with Tex in his current form, you’d be mad not to have a crack

Did you miss the bit where I posted Jordon Lewis breaking this news yesterday on RSN?

It's a legit story.

Isn’t that how all reports of bombshell players that end up leaving start, though? With general posturing?

Look you might be right, but considering our club’s current position, you’d just have to take a deeper look into the situation, at least

Hi guys. Can now confirm we have unfortunately given up our very hard chase at this player , was looking very promising at one stage but Is now In deep discussion with a Victorian club, not sure the media has announced this one yet. But surely won’t be far away from the papers . Don’t want to mention his name but I will say that he is in the top 5 of his position in the comp and I don’t believe I’ve seen his name mentioned here on this forum.
It’s Sean Darcy

Out of contract Cameron got 3 firsts. Oliver is off the scale more than that.
The 3 first were all late 1st round picks though, different to 3 early 1sts.

Geelong gave up 13, 15 and 20 and then got back 2 x 2nd rounders.

So our pick 9, future 1st and our pick 20 this year would be a better deal than what GWS got for Caneron, especially if we also throw in McAdam.

Very interesting that the rumour is he wasnt happy with how the fitness dept treated his hammy injury.. and that he sort advice from outside the club..

Could he be missing the trusted relationship, skills and knowledge of Darren Burgess?.. Dees players gave Darren a hell of a lot of credit for their premiership success..

and interesting that he’s blaming the club for this hammy and the club is apparently blaming him.. sounds like there’s one pretty decent sized rift there..

Anyone know if he attended the Brownlow?… has he broken up with his missus recently or something?.. Because his other actions sound like the sort of mischief and shite some young lads get themself into after a break up.. get a bit loose and off the rails for a bit..

come over to Adelaide young fella!..

What’s funny is that McAdam is accusing us of a similar issue with his injury management

I can actually see it working if melbourne really want to get rid of him. We should be open to trading out a sam berry type to get it done.

-Pick 9, McAdam, 2024 first, doedee compensation for oliver.
-Pick 9 and 2024 first, doedee compensation for pick 4.
-Pick 4 and 5 for pick 1.

Melbourne end out with McAdam and Reid for Oliver.
