Again, posted on another board, that Oliver got in touch with Burgess and he put in him touch with a local physio
Yep..

and given oliver and burgess have a strong relationship, the conversation wouldnt have gone..

”hey mate, cant really talk to you or give you advice.. here’s the number of a good physio close to you.. see ya”

contractural obligations or not.. Burgess wouldve been doing his best to help out Clayton and also lend him an ear to vent any frustrations he may have had..

this could also have pissed melbourne off when they found out about it after the fact.. and may have contributed to the rift.

They'll probably report us to the AFL, a la Bulldogs. Penalties incoming. ;)

We know how this players out.

Crows sell the farm for Oliver.

Then, two days after the trade period, a journalist “uncovers” pictures of Oliver passed out with a needle hanging out of his arm.

Then the AFL ban him for 12 months (on full pay by the AFC) for bringing the game into disrepute, so the crows end up out of pocket, out of picks and out of an Oliver.

Nothing against you guys but this is like watching a car crash in real time.
Yeah, there’s a fair bit of “in joke” happening on our board.

It’s a yearly occurrence of a big fish coming in, only for nothing to happen. So is now a tradition to carry on like pork chops at the mere mention of anyone wanting to join us. Some notable ones have been Jeremy Cameron and peak Luke Parker.

Melbourne want Reid, granted. He is more talented that JHF. They also want Pedlar because he is an actual X factor. I want him more than Oliver in fact. I would rather keep Pedlar than recruit Oliver. Even though I am a redhead man lol.
Player will nominate and once they do then the club doesn't have any power given they also want to the player out. They can ask for Pedlar but if he doesn't want to go to Melbourne then he won't.

I think he’s talking about their side of things.

This sounds like a certain Essendon/St Kilda FB of yesteryear.

Yawn.

I’m bored already.
I'm bored with people wanting to give away every pick for the next 10 years. Just let it play out. If Melbourne want to keep him, they will. If they don't he won't cost the Earth and Moon and 7 asteroids.

Berg, Doods and Shano Mac salaries would be around 1mil combined. This deal was factored in a while ago. Burgess a huge factor too. The picks and players will get sorted. Clarry is as good as done. Welcome aboard son!

This has the all too clean smell about it. In other words, this is something thats been in the works for awhile and I think its as good as done. It also wouldn't surprise me if this is already a pre worked deal with WCE too.

literally, 1st deal on trade day could be a huge 3 way deal involving WCE, Melbourne, Adelaide.

I wonder if Adelaide would move Dawson to wing and half back (7th defender) if we get Oliver..

Centre group:

Milera ~ Butts/Keane ~ Hinge
Dawson ~ Laird ~ Smith
Obrien ~ Oliver ~ Crouch
Rachele ~ Walker ~ Pedlar
Think you are confusing Dawson with Laird...

I've always thought when rebuilding its best to trade out players for picks. If a middling team let's players play out their career and retire they get absolutely nothing upon retirement. If they trade them out at 28 to 30, at least they get some value back to put into the rebuild.

In what world are Melbourne middling?

Not only that, they hold two of the top five midfielders in the competition at the moment. They aren't likely to have a better shot at a flag for a long time to come, and even the talk of trading Oliver should see heads put on spikes at that club.
