You can't just pay out players.

I wish folks would stop talking about that. Presumably we didn't go into this season with massive unspent salary cap room - which we'd need if we're bringing a contract forward to pay someone out.
Surely we’d be in a position where we could pay out at least one. We should be closer to the salary floor than the cap

But really, is he that option? His injuries appear to be never-ending. I wouldn't be hanging on his resurrection with any great confidence.
You're writing him off. I'm saying at his best he is class and Nicks has another quality player that was unavailable last season.

I just hope they don’t see Draper of the Sam variety as the solution
Unfortunately, the Crows are definitely interested in him. I was told only a 50/50 proposition to stay at Essendon given that the contract we are offering supposedly blows Essendon out of the water. I would prefer going after Liam Reidy as a much cheaper and potentially better option, but the club appear to be well and truly chips in on Sam Draper next year.

At his best, Milera is a classy player who is easily in our best 22. However, it remains to be seen whether or not Milera can return to playing at his best, after successive major knee injuries.

He deserves to be given the time & opportunity, to show whether or not he is capable of returning to his best.

Not writing him off, rather being cautious. I'm not hanging my hat on him being any major influence on our squad in 2025. If he is, then that's a bonus.

We shouldn't be pushing against the limit with our current list. Sure next year with the influx of players.

You have to spend 95% every year, no matter what.

So, if we had decided to not spend it, we could have $750k or so of the cap left over.

Hopefully we were actually using that on front loading some salaries though.

I would actually love this if its doable.

His athleticism and skills below his knees would be exactly whats needed in the modern game.

It does scare me that he could get injured doing it.

Imagine a ruckman with above average general skills.

Have we ever had one of those?
Shaun Rehn?
