Probably the most interesting point to me, is would the big Ginge have just wandered off out of his crease had it been Lyon or Head bowling? Of course not, because he would have known he would have been stumped. No difference when the keeper is back, you just don't do it until the ball is dead.

If England wants to go down the 'poor sportsmanship' or 'spirit of the game' route, maybe they can explain why Gary Pratt was on the field at Trent Bridge while the fast bowlers were off having a shower and rest? Broad smashing it to first slip? Sidebottom running into Elliot and Collingwood not calling Elliot back? Bodyline? McCallum running out Muralitharan? The list goes on.....

About 3/4 of the way through your post I thought you'd switched to AFL players :drunk:

God I wish we buried them after the Bairstow wicket when Stokes lost his cool and Broad was acting like a little bitch
Yeah Smith takes the catch and we win easily.

They had all the good batting conditions and we were a bit of luck away from thrashing them.

Looking forward to England following this

Cricket owes much of its appeal and enjoyment to the fact that it should be played not only according to the Laws, but also within the Spirit of Cricket. The major responsibility for ensuring fair play rests with the captains, but extends to all players, match officials and, especially in junior cricket, teachers, coaches and parents.
Respect is central to the Spirit of Cricket.
Respect your captain, team-mates, opponents and the authority of the umpires.
Play hard and play fair.
Accept the umpire’s decision.
Create a positive atmosphere by your own conduct, and encourage others to do likewise.
Show self-discipline, even when things go against you.
Congratulate the opposition on their successes, and enjoy those of your own team.
Thank the officials and your opposition at the end of the match, whatever the result.
Cricket is an exciting game that encourages leadership, friendship and teamwork, which brings together people from different nationalities, cultures and religions, especially when played within the Spirit of Cricket.

There wasn't much spirit of cricket in the long room that's for sure

The thing that finally swayed me with the Bairstow wicket was he never looked back. If he had done so he would have clearly seen the ball was still live and in play.

Sure as shit if he was looking backwards and seen Carey keep and instantly throw the ball at the stumps he would have grounded his bat uncontroversially, end of the over or otherwise.

It doesn't sit 100 percent with me, and I wouldn't like getting out in the same circumstances myself, but I'm comfortable with it (just).

Aside from the Bairstow debacle (I’m Australian and did not agree with the ploy) the short pitched barrage from both teams was deplorable and made for a shocking spectacle. Exciting Test, sure, but it was awful seeing the ferrets get hit repeatedly. Strange match all round

That's what happens when England doctor the pitches to roll out flat roads that make it very hard to get anyone out with normal pace bowling. We also lost our spinner who I think would have cleaned them up on day 5, and they decided not to pick one.

Black is white. Up is down, Bazball has saved test cricket, England are 2-0 up, and Brexit was a good idea.
In the land of British exceptionalism, delusion and alternate reality reigns supreme.
The ultimate 'feelings' over facts.

It’s reached George Costanza levels of ‘Opposite’

Someone earlier referenced Johnny Walker - if a talented person could redo this logo:

But change:

Walker to Bairstow.
Make the mad hold a cricket bat instead of a cane, wear a cricket helmet instead of a top hat, and pads instead of boots..... that would be gold.

I never liked seeing batters hit by short pitched stuff, but when it happened to Broad, I couldn't have cared less.

They started the short stuff, we will finish it.
We bowl at 145klm, they can barely make 130k.
Bring it on yoy precious pommy whingers.

A couple of bad eggs.
When the team came back out, the Members in the Long Room gave them extra applause.
I am sure the vast majority would be appalled by the behaviour of a couple of manchild halfwits.

How funny though was the dweeby guy with his arms crossed refusing to clap and trying to stare down each Aussie as they came through the door. Had em shivering in their boots, no doubt.
