Autopsy 40 point win over Dockers - Round 19, 2021

You had us early and I'll admit to being worried. You've got some great young lads & Mundy's a legend. Hope you kick the Tiggies into the curb next week, and help remind them what an away game actually looks like.

Unfortunately can’t see us winning another game this year. Few big injuries today.
If we can get the best 22 on the park, should see a nice season form next year.

A conjugal visit from the wife might alleviate whatever the hell is up with Buddy
Maybe it’s thought if the visit that’s causing the frustration..!!

Bell was average again.
Reid looked rusty in the first quarter in particular at centre square bounces. Started to find his form after quarter time.

Centre clearances are a worry as Freo waltzed the ball out with ease at times.

Heeney’s ankle didn’t seem to hinder him this week.

We’ll be dangerous if we don’t start so slow.

Yep. Why?

also, let these other teams worry about us ... let those top five look over their shoulder each week, check our results and start hoping like heck we don't make the top four ...
let them note heeney's form today, or that we have 2-3 of our best still to come back in, or that we're already a better side than the one the vic media were drooling over first four rounds, then gave up on ... or that gulden is no flash in the pan, that mcinerney and blakey and dawson and florent and hewett are all worth a double take ("hey, when did those guys suddenly become so good!?!") ... let them all shake their heads and say, again: "tom hickey!!!"

By the way, is Dermie implying Gulden is a ducking deliberately - casually mentions that was his 3rd 'almost head high' on my re-watch.

Seriously, who do we have to pay to stop this tool commenting in our game days? It's been pretty good lately. Although appreciate Kellie Underwood keeping him in line, noticed much less garrulous self aggrandization & boys chat than usual, so that part was good.

I don't have a problem with Buddy being suspended for the elbow as I didn't like it when Shuey did it a few weeks ago. But I think Sam Naismith summed up Brereton and the mayo he was adding perfectly.

I turn off the commentary so miss all of that. Let the footy speak for itself.

Nah, just at that point now and he says “Errol Gulden’s third head high tackle we see” (or possibly “received”).

No “almost” that I can hear.

Isaac Heeney game was set up by his performance last week. He got plenty of ball in the 2nd half of the gws game and although he looked clunky with it he was doing the grunt work. Today he once again got plenty ball from the beginning but his class reappeared.

Whenever you're out of form go back to the grunt work. Class will reappear eventually.

Centre clearances an issue again. We have the appropriate players but the combination/balance at center bounces is incorrect. Its frustrating it hasn't been addressed.

I want to see different combos moving forward for the season, as losing center clearances in the finals will be a massive issue. It unnecessarily puts pressure on our defence. We lose it and they get a quick fwd 50 entry. If we could slow it down from the center it'd be helpful but most of the time it looks like a quick center clearance for the opposition.

Imo Kennedy and Parker attending the same center bounce makes us too slow. Split em up. Too many time I've seen opposition players burst out past em from center bounces. Some options:

1. Parker/Heeney/Mills
2. Kennedy/Papley/Warner (when fit)
3. Hewett/Mills/Heeney etc.

We need to get the balance right. Need players with quick reaction and quick first step to either:
A. Win the center clearance or B. Slow down the opposition fwd 50 entry from the center clearance.

We have the pieces but just need to get the fit correct. If we do if, the premiership is ours.

Btw who has horses number or even coxy? :p

I said in the preview thread would love to be proven wrong about Ronke but sadly think we will get a 0.2, 8 touch, 1 tackle game.....

0.0, 5 touches, 0 tackles.

Yeah you won't be seeing AFL footy ever again.

I'd be pretty happy to have had the career he had.

Single handedly burning scum on the MCG in his first game at the home of football.

I remember watching this in a bar in Bangkok and thinking this kid will be pretty good. Sadly not to be by the looks of it.

Yer finals are safe but i think there is a real opportunity of grasping something better i hope thats what Longmire is hammering into the group.

Dont be content with just making the 8.

Absolutely, right at this time I’m content with them making the eight but would still be devastated if bundled out first round of the finals. If they can enter the finals in good form and absolute best 22 which we are so very close with then we have a genuine shot at it.

definitely right about heeney ... his second half against the giants was really good, he worked hard ... launched him into yesterday's game, and hopefully the rest of the season ...
sometimes i wonder if a lot of the posters criticising him are expecting the highlight reel stuff all the time and don't really appreciate or even notice how much work up and down the ground he does ... even when he might be playing injured
best example yesterday was the tackle/spoil/save on darcy that stopped a certain goal ... and, whether inspired by heeney or not, hayward then appeared in the last line of defence to do pretty much the same thing later in the game

Speaking of work rate, his landing from that mark was a millisecond away from putting him in a wheelchair. Incredible!

Amazing how we can get hammered in clearances early on and still stay in touch. If we can start well and get our clearances and contested ball numbers up, we will be unstoppable. It is pretty exciting to imagine Mills, Warner and even Campbell in the future back in the midfield. We suddenly have plenty of depth. JPK has wound back the clock and Parker, just wow, super player who must be in AA contention. On another note when will MRO come out on Buddy? I think he gets a week...

Solid performance , we were lucky with their injuries . We wouldn't want to have Matthew Nicholls umpiring in the future as his bias was terrible

We were already on top of them before the injuries.

Parker should be in the list of 40 for AA but it's a midfielder comp. I strongly doubt he'll make best 22 and that convo is probably best explored in another thread.

We concede a lot from clearances too. We need to either get better at them or setup better so we don't concede so much from them.
