Free kick in the middle of thebground for dissent after carrying on about the touch. Didn't stop sooking after the free in the middle, so it becomes a 50. Not the way you want to see a game end, but pretty standard stuff as far as making the call.
It was a slight deflection off the shoulder. Can't expect the umps to see that. Doesn't matter how sure you are that they got it wrong, you aren't going to make them change the call. They still had a chance from there and threw it away.

Not correct. It's the greater of middle or downfield - so any dissent forward of the middle results in an instant free where it occurs.

No, it shouldn't. The Carlton player dragged it under, so the entire onus is on him to release it. Sitting on the ball with your arms out after you've dragged it under still counts as posession.

I am all for if you drag it under its a free kick if you don't get it out, but its the worst thing about our game when a defender holds the ball while tackling someone and it should cancel it out in the same way if you duck into a tackle its not high free kick.

Irrelevant to the decision in this game its cringeworthy trash.

It’s a stupid rule IMO with far too much grounds for interpretation.

Rubbish, I can't stand Carlton, but it was not an outright mistake by the umpire, maybe brushed Aish's tricep.

The fault is in the immaturity of Freo.

Still 40 seconds to go, back in the middle 6,6, 6, they still had a chance.

Instead they yelled at the umpire with dissent.
Freo's fault, nobody else's.

If they paid dissent week in week out I’d be like - that’s fine. But I literally haven’t seen a dissent call for about a full season, so to pull one out to seal the game is just such a joke. It’s the inconsistency that kills you.

Good win for Carlton

They played like crap against a pretty good opponent, but they stuck at it and pinched the 4 points

I just knew the Blues would a find a way, especially with 2 minutes left and Freo trying to block it up like there was 20 seconds remaining. They needed to clear the ball from defence. Not force ball ups in front of the Carlton goals. They invited trouble.

Firstly, no umpire is ever going to detect if that was touched, the slow motion didn’t even pick up anything obvious.

Secondly, you gotta keep your mouth shut, nothing good ever comes from abusing an umpire.
