Looking at the 3 major losses of Melbourne in the regular season, to Hawks, Richmond and Collingwood. Melbourne lost all the Clearance Counts badly. This might need to analyse a bit further.

Need to make sure Max Gawn is manned up when he floats back aswell, just runs around uncontested and intercepts the ball.

I reckon when Gawn drops back to fill a hole, it's incumbent on one of our big
backs to really make him earnt it.

Just smash into him from behind with knees and elbows whilst spoiling.

Watched the 2nd term and Hawks were all over them. Kicked 6 points and had 2 shots drop short but had 8 inside 50's in a row. Really should have been in front at half time. You have to take your chances against the Demons. Which is where JK and Darling come in.

i am leaning towards playing another utility type in Ah chee instead of replacing Shep with another defender.

Backline matchups

Barrass > McDonald
Gov > Weiderman
Hurn > Patracca
Duggan > Melksham
Cole > Spargo
Jetta > resting mid

We need more midfield power to counter the Dees, a bigger body who can take it and dish out some physical pressure.

Ah chee and Redden can also rest back at stages to provide a rotation down back.

Think Schofield makes us too tall and less agile.

Unless Schofield takes Weiderman and Gov plays on Petracca but still thats a tall backline playing against a smaller, agile forward line.

Also robs our midfield depth playing seven pure defenders.

Nelson just doesn't have the poise to handle the Dees chaos playing style IMO.

Hopefully whatever the hell has been going on with Lycett is resolved and he comes out firing. Gawn wiped the floor with him last time, at the stoppages and all over the ground. It was hideous. Cant allow such domination this time or we are screwed.

Schofield to come in for Shep, really like it when he uses his run. I think he is underrated at ground level, has had to play on the monsters for so long I think people forget he was mainly used as an attack weapon before Emac went down.

Just re-watching the last game against Melbourne. Only one quarter in so far, here's what I'm seeing;
- We regularly fumbled, most players seemed 5-10% off. If we can start better next week, that'll help immensely.
- Lycett has been dropping everything and really not competing. We need a huge left from him.
- Darling started strong, was a real up ground link player, his mid game loss was obviously huge. Just need him to not get concussed!
- After Darling went down, our forward entries have been impotent. Darling and Kennedy should, again, help immensely.
- Midfield is really down on Melbourne's output. We need Q4 from Collingwood game midfield effort.

First quarter next week, really need to lift early! I feel we let them get their confidence up in the first quarter.

I reckon they are fairly confident now. Hopefully the Vic media will blow them up to be all conquering gods and they are over confidant.

Got to make sure we don't get any players esp. key forwards knocked out. From what I see Melbourne have a focus on hitting the body and the head hard esp key players Tom Mitchell last night is the perfect example. That's N Jetta's second big hit in two weeks and he has a number of mates. How do you defend that? Got to fight fire with fire I reckon. If we meekly let them attack us physically without making them fear us they will knock us out literally and out of the finals. The umpires are not and won't do anything.

Oh come, Lycett has had his ass spanked against every ruckman he has gone up against. Prepare for another domination. Lycett is embarrassing himself out there.

Nobody is getting suspended lately. They have the big bodied players and obviously know they're unlikely to get rubbed out.

Worried if Schofield comes in we will be too tall Dees have alot of swervability.............
Schoey's middle name used to be Swervability?
Has shed some weight, more agile of late...?

We need to carefully remove Gawn's head...or at least get inside it!
Lycett should give everything hes got against Gawn and treat it like it's his last chance to a Grand Final....
Really expect the whole team to treat it like it's their last chance to a GF!
No better incentive on home deck=win this game and you're in a Grand Final!?
To play out of their skins!...and a great warm up for the Tigresses!

Good fair hit from Jetta. Love when Hurn lays one of them.
