Yes but if those 2 horrible performances are the reason we miss the 8, like his 2 horrible performances last year to open the season….

And what is going to be your opinion if we miss the finals this year? What if it’s evident by the bye we won’t be, would you be re-signing him then?
Ask that question again in the 2nd half of the year

1st qtr - 15.39 to go - turned ball over to Geelong at HB - Stengle goal
1st qtr - 10 to go - out positioned by Hawkins. Mannagh goal.
3rd qtr - 18 to go - two turn overs in d50 selling Crouch into trouble
3rd - 7.50 to go. Handball to Keane in d50 blindly. Keane immediately under pressure.
I could continue but he has zero awareness, just wants to get the ball our of his hands with no idea who's around him.
I will accept your argument on that because I can’t be bothered going back to the replay that’s on me, we could make an argument for many times we put ourselves under similar pressure, but to say he got destroyed 1 v 1 and is just terrible + his positioning you won’t persuade me

I will say, if Smith gets selected vs Freo, it’s enough evidence for me that there’s something genuinely fishy at the club re: protecting senior players and ‘leaders’

Literally everything he touched turned to s**t

Unless he's injured, he'd need to play like that for 2 months before they'd start considering him at selection.

Pedlar has played less than 50 games. Instead of calls for him to be dropped there should be noise for him to go into the middle and let him settle there. Give him the season there, when he tires rest him then straight back there.

I would also put Dawson back to the wing and have Rachele & Soligo share the midfield. Use Rankine in there at times only.

I don’t watch much SANFL so not sure how our other midfielders are tracking but if any are showing promise then have them either on the bench or sub to give them a feel.

Smith, Laird, Keays and Murphy are not our future they are only taking up time from our youngsters. Crouch is heading that way but is only 28 so has a few years left as long as he doesn’t slow down.

To my surprise, I think we're missing Doedee in defence quite a lot
Imo, we got our matchupe wrong.

Worrell should have been freed up rather than playing on Cameron.

We got so many things wrong.
We werre playing against a team with a C grade midfield, that is well known for being slower than just about every other team. They struggle with fast movement.
Yet we chose to go against the fast styled game plan we had used the last season with some success and instead played the slowest stop start game style possible. I can barely remember a single handball recieve or overlap run from a mark or free kick. It was all start stop kicking.
Literally the worst game plan you could possibly use against Geelong.

Because he's terrible. Every time he's under pressure he throws a team mate under the bus.
He is a massive liability.
He is but we have no one else. More poor list management decisions. We have 10 of the short unskilled tryer type and 1 good kpd in Murray who is injured. What the **** is list management doing?

Thats fair but id rather Worrell play a key back, Curtin come in or even Borlase as FB. He's shown more composure in his few games than Butts ever has.

The mix of Keys, Pedlar and Murphy as our high half forwards isn’t working either these guys all suck. We’re crying out for a Tom Lynch type player who can lead up the ground and present as an option and actually has a speck of composure. **** even Shane McAdam would be handy right now.

Cook?

Tell smith if we aren’t in finals you can play the 2nd to last round at home as a farewell and if you perform in that game you get your final game as 250th.
Give him all season to work on his game.

He will be “managed” for this week and then play his 250th in the Gather Round. Reckon this is on the cards.

Thankyou for your services, please continue to serve out your contracts in the SANFL as injury cover, or if you prefer a trade can be arranged at the end of the season.

Bring in Thilthorpe when fit, Gollant, Cook, Taylor, Nankervis, Edwards, Dowling, Curtin, and pick one of the others ie Gallagher/Ryan/Bond. Rotate them all through the midfield, the forward line, and the half back line until you find the strengths and weaknesses and figure out where their future is.

Bin the coaches, bin the hopeless field position based game plan and switch to something more basic in a learning period, build foot skills and awareness of where to be and lead to by working on a short passing game, add in a running game plan when they're ready, and accept that we're still going to lose a lot, but at least this will come with purpose. A defensive game plan is a lot easier to learn these days because everyone has been using an integrated team defense of some kind since high school days now, and it will come with repetition.

I'm actually available right now AFC, hire me you gormless cowards.

Lol, your hate of Crouch holds no bounds. Let's get rid of our best mid.

Milera has been ok too.

Lots of ineffective touches in losses, he's no different than he's ever been
No, he actually looks to use the ball unlike many.

Just need to get good kickers around him.

I now see why Hamill was training with the 1's in Pre Season as currently only Milera takes the game on and breaks lines, maybe we need Hamill to inject some pace into this woefully slow side.

Smith tries and ****s up every time, I'd be trying Hamill in Smith's spot for a few weeks

Needs more Nankervis.

Curtin from the vision i've seen of him takes the game on. The sooner he is fit and in the side the better. Worrell and Hinge can take the game on as well but maybe they are being instructed not too or arent being proactive. The players seem frozen out there like they don't know what to do.
