So SSP is the Big Bodied Mid the Crows don't have, 187/87kgs. have a closer look at our List, If the Crows select him he would have only played 2 JLT game tops, because they were running with other Big Bodied Midfielders, CEY 190/94, Smith190/86, Greenwood 190/90, Hampton 187/90, Menzel 187/84, Atkins 186/85, Gore 186/83, But I guess we don't have any big bodied mids NOTE I have not included Seedsman 190/83, BCrouch 187/88, Thommo 185/86
SSP like Pohokle 186/84 would have Play 2 games. And because the Crows were looking at other players would not have played in the first few rounds, he may have made his debut in round 8.
And when I say lucky that Port pick him up. They did not have many big-bodied mid to run with Wines. The bigger mids are Wines 190/97, Ebert 188/89, Polac 187/82 Young 189/83, Pittard 186/81, Palmer188/89, So yes I would say he was lucky Port pick him up because they needed his type of Player badly.
Again SSP looks a great pick in hindsight, but as I said he would not have gotten a game for the Crows until about Round 7 or 8.

Aaaaargh

After the first 8 or 9 times I let it go but Jesus it's not ****ing SSP

It's Sam Pepper Powell!!!!! SPP

If you don't know his name you can't be following his progress too closely

Isn't doedee a better replacement for brown and Cheney fighting with Kelly for a spot?

I reckon Kelly probably plays more the brown role while brown is out and Cheney/doedee come in to replace the Kelly role in terms of structure.

Who is selected from Cheney/ doedee will he interesting. If the club rates Doedee highly this is the perfect opportunity to blood him.

Otten out with knight to come in to correct team balance.

If DMac out I think it's Gallucci in again. If he played well on weekend as it sounds that's also a good selection message- you were dropped to return a guy we dropped who didn't play a game to prove himself, since he returned you've gone back and done all you could while that guy hasn't justified our faith so you've forced us to admit a wrong.

Looking forward. Gov plays SANFL this week so I think he returns post bye. The bye is awkward timing for him but if DMac can return presumably on training form I think Gov has 1 game and then will be match like training next weekend and that will be enough (unless his match this week is heavily managed in TOG).

Seed will need 3 games plus bye week before challenging IMO.

Don did actually speak positively about knight which was good. At the same time he seems to be backing in the current team on the most part.
Therefore feel changes will be:
Out: Mackay, Brown
In: Knight/Beech, Cheney/Doedee

Hoping to see Knight in along with Doedee.
What doesn't make sense is Knight was only out through injury from a rampant dominant team. If you are going to back in the guys as if it's your best team, you back in the guys who were in when we were going well, not the guys in a faltering team

Time for selection to be warranted.

Hardest decisions are the toughest ones eg thomo.

Happy for gooch Greenwood milera getting games. I want to see doedee and what he can bring.

Think our team still has improvement.
Every spot can be earned.

Changes that are obvious to everyone other than anyone on the club's payroll;

Out: Brown (inj), Otten, Mackay
In: Doedee/Gallucci, Beech, Knight

But Pyke has obviously jumped on board the Essendon druggie hashtag of #BackOurBoys so 'good blokes, shit footballers' will stay in. It's 11 rounds into 2017 & David Mackay has singlehandedly ruined any enjoyment I had for the game of Australian Rules Football.

Who has he failed to play?
He has been very patient with Milera, given games to Kelly, we have one of the youngest midfields and Cheney, Seedsman, Doedee, Keath have had interrupted starts to the season.

Galucci, Poholke, Gore, Wigg etc have not been knocking the door down. Not surprisingly my main complaint has been holding back THE MIGHTY THOR and to a lesser extent Beech.

My changes for this week will be;

Out - Brown, Otten and Same Ole Mackay

In - Knight, Beech and Galucci

Kelly is the shut down defender, Dougie plays off half back, THE MIGHTY THOR plays as a full time inside mid, Galucci plays the BNM role and Beech plays the Otten role.

When Brown comes back Dougie has to win a spot in the midfield, McLovinit sadly replaces Beech and Seedsman, Cheney and Doedee fight Kelly for his spot.

We should make more. Posted what I reckon happens. We need to drop under performers or the 2s become disllusioned

If you drop underperforming players which is fair enough you must stick by your philosophy and pick performing players

Last weeks performers realistically were

ROB, Thommo, Beech, Wigg

You can't do one action without the other or you become a hypocrite

I am for one that never read to much into press conferences, at one of the scale there are coaches like Pyke who rarely gives much away on their possible plans while at the other end of the scale there is coaches like Clarko who announce that there will be casualties at the selection table but not follow through

Press conferences are a AFL requirement, club just tick the box with little to no intent to provide insightful information
Unless your name of course is Brenton Sanderson who used to tell the media and other teams exactly the best way to beat us.

I dont reckon we will drop Otten. I think they believe he is actually playing a valuable role, even though our structure is a catastrophic mess.
Otten's presence is making Walker and Jenkins worse

They are deluded.

4 goals in the deluge against a rabble means nothing against decent defences in normal conditions.

Our forward half pressure is deplorable and the antithesis of the importance placed on it by other teams performing far better than we are.

One of Tex or Otten must go...pretty simple to figure out who.

Knight MUST come in, Beech should replace Otten...will do the pack crashing and marking better than Otten, can chase and tackle, could swing in defence if we need it, but more importantly can contribute through the wing/middle as required also. He might even be a nice bloke as well?!

The lack of consistent defensive pressure, effort and intensity from Douglas is grating also given he's a veteran who also seems to be crumbling with ball in hand also...love to see Galluci in also.

With Beech, Knight and Galluci in the front half with mid cameos, it releases Cameron to the midfield. Time for Charlie to produce some decent numbers and give us a spark in there, both defensively and offensively.

If you look at the body of work over the past 3-4 games then Doedee should be added to that list.

Does anyone know if our SANFL side is playing during our AFL bye, it would be handy to give McGovern and the Seed another game before Hawthorn.

We want to drop playesr on one performance so why promte off one performance, remember you are only as good as your last game. Likek I said if you are going to want to cut playesr on their last performance its the same for promtion or you are hypocritical

No it's a deliberate split round in the SANFL next week, I always thought the entire list was guaranteed the same week off under the Player Association rules but didn't some AFL teams with the bye VFL teams play last week? What's was the deal with that?

Thought Otten had a good game against freo kicked 4 didnt he, leading goal scorer and lots of contested possesion

Marty he was playing on no one in a forward line of a team in a 100 point win, Aaron Keating could of kicked 4 goals playing his position in that game

Rubbish...and a simplistic view.

My selection philosophy is:

You don't try to acceptable levels, you face the axe...so yeah, in terms of EFFORT, I'm happy for players to get the arse on one soft performance because one soft performance loses cutthroat finals.

But in terms of PERFORMANCE...if you try but don't play well then your selection rightly depends on your performance history over time (brownie points), potential for future improvement, and the teams immediate needs.

Occassionally, someone performing to an ok level simply has to be axed for team structure or to accomodate a better player.

Yeah but that was a game we won by 100 and had 32 more inside 50s when Fremantle were playing like shit. Hardly the most relevant sample.
