I dont know how we will go, but one thing is certain in my mind our list that we have drafted isnt as good as the supporters think its a fair list but has holes
I'm not doubting that for a second, and I've said before 3 losses don't break a coaching career, but he severely handicaps us by refusing to do certain things.

Whenever Sloane gets tagged, he's essentially backing Matt and Brad Crouch to be two of the best mids on the ground. So basically Pyke and/or Campo was happy to let the Crouches and Douglas run head to head with Dangerfield and Joel Selwood. I love the Crouch boys, but even I know that's an absolutely crazy thing to do.

We worked through it with Brisbane and Freo because they couldn't keep Sloane contained. North, Geelong and Melbourne did and we didn't hit them back to even up the score and give the other mids a solid chance. That's a coaching failure as much as it is a knock on the fact we don't have another A grade mid.

Thinking flags are won based on selection in June
Sometimes they can be

I think the reason we as fans feel down after a loss is not only the loss but the manner of the loss .

Football is played over 3 seasons.
22 round season where teams jockey for position to play the 2nd season.
Finals where teams aim to play in the 3rd season
The Grand Final. Where all the choices and decisions you make during the year either come to help or hinder you. If for example you choose to select a senior player in a meaningless game against a bottom side and they are injured for Finals or the GF. Who is ready?

I sometimes think clubs get so focused on the next week that nobody is sitting back and viewing the season as a whole.

Anyone else hear Jono Brown last night on AA? Im still in shock that he has put the power ahead of us in the pecking order.. he thinks ports brand will stand up in September. wft?? Brisbane, Carlton, hawks, swans, freo, suns ... how can beating those sides mean they are ahead of us when they lost to us, gws, cats and west coast.. who will be there in September.
wow
Dont really care who is ahead of who in the pecking order. Care about turning up when we need to. Ports numbers are good but gws are the standout currently imo.

Nick off Sanders, I am not in the mood for your crap today, Here is a hint next time mention it early in a more polite way Like most would do. And I would have acknowledged and thanked you for it. And yes I have an injury affected reading and writing difficulties and will appreciate being corrected.

You don't think the responsibility for your posts belongs to you?

Maybe that's where things go wrong

Top bloke makes it a difficult decision. Combine that with his return beingva great story and the Selleys nickname and it becomes an impossible decision.
The other issue that makes it impossible is that he hasn't been that far off JJ in terms of form. Can't decide who to drop.....

Keep both !!! FFS if that happens I'll be super ****** off.

It's so frustrating to see that when Gov went down, we went with someone as tall and immobile as Otten.

Beech IS and SHOULD have been the replacement for Otten. Provides us with a stronger marking target up forward, but is also more mobile, can push into the midfield and will apply a shit ton more defensive pressure.

We're a simple selection crew. Otto was already in covering Lever, so that's basically that.

Same could be said about JJ I suppsoe, hoping that we dont play Geelong though they can be a little physical at times as we found out

One or the other, I don't care, pick the best on form, Sauce rucks nearly all game and oval anyway and that's not looking like being addressed, so the second ruck role is largely irrelevant. But both cannot continue to play at the expense of running power and midfield numbers.

They can if Pyke feels that is the structure he needs to win the game, he may be looking to extend the defence of his opposition as taller players dont get shorter and arial dominance can certainly win you games as long as your big men are capable, probably why teams struggle to play a number of big men they dont have enough quality ones.

I like Beech but from what I've seen he doesn't apply much more pressure than Otten. He's the perfect Lynch replacement if Lynch goes down

If We need another zippy small and if knight is injured then pick Galluci

But Knight should come back this week

If they don't want to drop Otto they may have to drop Harto or Talia ( which they won't ) to play down back and Knight forward

The tall forward structure is awful

Ps only mention Talia because his performance against Geelong was the MOST disappointing of any of our players all season . 2 possessions from an all Australian and leadership group member is the definition of why we lost ( much worse than any of Mackay's crap games because Talia is a gun )

The guy needs to lead and pull his finger out

In modern footy pressure is king especially with pykey's self proclaimed game plan ' get it in our half and lock it in there '

Can't believe you couldn't see that Marty

Im not jumping off Pykes train just yet, Im actually not that fickle

Im still giving him the benefit of doubt considering the game in Geelong I had penciled in to lose by about 45-50 points, so its not the end of the world for me, I was emotional about the lack of physical pressure but that is more from the type of player we have rather than the amount f them we pick , you could bring in three running types like Gallluci, signorelli and Knight but none have a strong physical pressence

But having Otto and JJ does ?!

Knight applies more pressure than anyone on our list other than Sloane and Greenwood ( and maybe Cameron/ Betts )

love sloane but he isnt a strong boy goes all day throws his smaller body in, he isnt dusty or danger type if you hadnt realised, this is what I mean by a physical pressence or a Kennedy from Sydney or Ollie Wines, Im pissed we dont have SPP he seems to have that style, everyone of those players that you mentioend doesnt have that pressence

Powell Pepper would have been the one

We don't have one

You went to the game expecting to lose by 40-50 points?

Correct if Thommo was three years younger I reckon Id put a 1000 on the prenmiership he is exactly what we need, a young thommo, he was a physical beast in close. Unfortunatly he is over the hill but maybe just maybe the guy can acheive 80% of what he did when he was an out and out elite player of the comp. On thing about him training hard isnt an issue for him

We dont have anyone else our recruiting has forgotten about this type of player and oppositions are seeing we dont have this type

Maybe having bigger bodies like Otten, Lynch,Tex, JJ, Harto , Lever, Talia will make up for this lack of size in our smaller brigade they are required to compete, unfortunalty you cant count on JJ to do that and he is probably the fastest out of that lot

Its all a balnce but when we are missing something we need to compensate with something else
