The “Shape Keeper” is the modern day version of the “Kenny McGregor”. Towards the end of Kenny’s career he was barely touching the ball.

I heard an interview on 5aa when they asked if Ken’s spot in the team was under question.

“Certainly not” said Phil Harper, “Ken is playing his role very well”
“What is his role?” Phil was asked.
“His role is to make space for the other forwards” Phil replied “Essentially he should be where the ball isn’t”

The Space Keeper must be a very important role because we seem to have a lot of Space Keepers in our squad.

Wasn’t it also Noble who came up with the non-statistical role to defend Matty Wright not touching the ball and then we dropped him a couple of weeks later

It's certainly an option... with Berry & Dowling ins, McHenry out/sub.

Curtin should come in for Butts, but you just know it will be Borlase.

Could easily debut Ryan too if need another half back

The irony is that the best way to create space is to be dangerous yourself.

I'd probably take an out of form Pedlar over McHenry.

Pedlar at least has some X factor and is a more mercurial player who may just turn it back on.

We have all seen McHenry.... He has 0 X-factor and ordinary skills. 8 Possessions, 0 goals with 81% TOG.

We technically don't lose anything doing this change lets be honest.

His running patterns are elite though.

Michael F**king Christian. That cancer should have been cut out of the AFL a long time ago, instead its left tokeep attacking us and penalising us over and above any other club. I don't care that Butters is a port player, it was the same type of incident, yet Christian gets to keep being vindictive our way. He needs to be made and example of and sacked

Butters has his hands on the ball, Crouch does not. There is a difference between the 2 collisions. Butters impacted whilst trying to gain possession, Crouch impacted so he could gain possession. Whether it’s the difference between a game or not is arguable, but they are different.

Or push Dawson back. No Crouch, reckon they will want to keep Laird in the midfield

Why not throw Dawson back and rotate him with Laird 50/50 in the middle/defence. He might find a bit of form there, can still command the game, opens up the midfield for the faster guys and means we're not unbalanced if we have Berry in there.

If Smith is out the easiest move ever would be to bring in Curtin and continue playing Laird in defense
