In our AFLX team if we don't make finals....

Well he might play. The team hasn't been selected.

Who takes on Dixon?

Dixon dominated Barrass last time and there are two other tall forwards to worry about.

I will run naked across the nullabor if MacKenzie is dropped this week.
Give Barrass another go - it's the best way for him to learn and there's no gain from protecting him from tough situations just because he failed once. I back our other defenders to give him help if Dixon gets on top of him again. As I said, dropping McKenzie is harsh, but we have to start exposing our younger guys to tougher situations.

Having said all that, the way Simmo has been picking the team this year, Barass will be the one that goes out.

Also i don't get the bont v lever match up. Isn't it meant to be a match up between two similair players?
Firstly Bont has been playing forward for large chunks this year (and missing every shot on goal)
But also the AFL site seems to be talking up Lever as the next Brownlow medallist this year

Remember Barrass got pantsed by Jenkins and Tex in his first meeting, second meeting did ok and in his third meeting he killed em both. That said his 1v1 game seems to have regressed. Im a huge fan of him but I also believe dropping emac now is not a freat thing either. If we can get him close to his 13/14 form, he will be formidable in defence and make our defence that much better.

If Le cras has a hip problemhow does that come good after one week off?

I would give him 3 games off, get it right if possible and get him fresh. Even if it takes to round 20 a do a mini preseason.
Happy for hm to get back to for in the WAFL to be honest. I think his best is still best 22, but he needs to prove he can reach it. They brought Cripps in way too early returning from injury.

As far as our talls go, what if they prefer having all the defenders available for matchup purposes and decide on just doing 2 straight swaps to keep the gameplan the exact same as it has been so far:

Petrie out for JJK - Unlucky, but JJK needs to win the coleman
Vardy for Lycett - He's the better ruckman comfortably

Keep McGovern forward to help JK/Darling with the option of going back. There's little disruption to the roles players have been playing this way although I think it's unlikely.

Actually quite like the idea of JK, Petrie and Darling in the same forward line. Petrie can continue roaming around up the ground but this time when the ball goes forward there's Kennedy to aim at instead of only Darling with 3 blokes hanging off him.

Petrie has shown enough to suggest he can be dangerous and kick a bag if you underestimate him. Even though Darling gets a lot of hate, you wouldn't want him loose doing as he pleases. Hopefully the spread makes it hard to double team JK.

Saw a glimpse of it on the weekend with McGovern. Only difference being, JK is 10 times the forward and would kick those goals. Excited to see if it works.

Selection changes will be tough this week ..
Should Wce be cautious and give Kennedy another week off?
Will Lecras be given another week off as well??
Priddis what to do with a slow ,injured ,out of synch mid ?
Lycett announces he is ready now for a recall possibly at the expense of Petrie ..
Parto is screaming out for a game but will probably have to wait ..

Outs
Wellingham inj
Butler inj
Masten
Petrie
Redden

Ins ;
Hurn
Lycett
Priddis
Kennedy
Lecras

Lycett in to work with Vardy who has been great and continues to improve .
Kennedy back to kick a bag on his way to a 3 peat
Priddis relegates Redden back to WAFL channelling MC views here ..
Lecras for Masten seems obvious
Hurn to add experience and leadership down back ..

Petrie has been good value but he/we knew its only to play as a back up until Slyce and Nicnat were fit and firing and ready to resume ..

I like what Simpson said on the radio last night in regards to how 8 senior players are on track to return v Port ( also mentioned Wellers is fine). He said they sat down with the team in regards to this situation and that they are in it to win but at the same time to continue to develop the squad and also reward form. To me this sounds like Lecra & Hill might be playing WAFL this week becasue Karpany performed and dropping him for one of those two would stupid.

East Perth have a bye this week so some players will have a "rest".

The best thing about last week was the even spread.Everybody did a bit at some stage.Im not sure i would like either Lecras or Priddis back in the side. Our mids had more run.Lycett will certainly replace Petrie at some stage but we must be wary of replacing somebody who smashes into every marking contest hard; with somebody in Lycett who is a bit more cautious and will probably take a few games to find his feet.It only took the Eagles two years to finally give Karpany a run of more than one week.Keep in mind tho last week was a good win ;the Bullies are in turmoil.Rumours are saying there is a bit of a scandal involved there.Remember ;2017 the year the Eagler toughen up.

So we have 2 games in a row at Domain then Pies at Etihad and Lions at Domain. No 6 day breaks in any of them so 3 minimal travel and maximum recovery.

Difficulty with East Perth on a bye this week. Sucks but that is what we have.

In all realty, we have 4 games in a row that we could win. That would push us up the table and even put us into top 4 so all is not doom. The brand of football has been a lot more convincing and heartfelt.

My old school philosophy is to reward top level form, address top level under-performing and reward the reserves grade top performances. Against that backdrop, keep an eye on developing youth. Not easy.

The team have actually played good football since the break.
Played 3 top teams resulting in 2 out of 3 wins including a win in Victoria.
We still need a pure ruck against Ryder despite the great cover that has come from Vardy and Petire.
We are playing a side this week that is quick so speed to be prioritised (or more correctly slowness to be avoided).

JK - don't rush him unless he is 100% and OK to bring him back v Freo
Priddis - rest another week as we need speed this week. Would be expecting him more seriously in contention for derby.
Nelson and Hurn - we need them for defensive structures as Sheppard is dubious
Lycett - bring him in against Ryder with Vardy Power Forward/ruck and Petrie FF.
Barrass - tough call here but he is still trying to be the intercept mark and he needs to understand the balance of mark v kill the contest. Dixon is in too good form to take that risk this week and Mackenzie is ahead of you
Redden - played the Priddis role and was pretty decent so gets another gig
Lecras - show us your WAFL form first because Karps deserves to stay
Wellers - back to WAFL as you were out either way being omitted of injured
Butler - easy injured out
Masten - one of the few who did not deliver so drop
Partington - now is the moment young man

In: Lycett, Nelson, Hurn, Partington
Out: Butler, Wellers, Barrass, Masten

If Sheppard is not right, then I would consider Schofield or Barrass given Port do play pretty tall up forward

Holy crap - Wingard with 1000 metres gained last weekend.
WOW

That is an insane number. 27 kicks and 12 handballs also. 17 contested possessions.

Guess we release Mr Unsociable again

Hope EMac stays in over Barrass this week.
Quite frankly we can't afford to lose for the sake of "development".
Suffice to say Tommy has had more than enough games this year to address his 1 on 1 issues.
Giving up goals in consecutive weeks deserves a drop.

Playing veterans vs development argument should only apply if the said veteran is out of form, which EMac is CLEARLY not.
Karpany over LeCras would be the valid argument, not Barrass over EMAC...

JK put the magnet on the board so he is right to play.
Parto needs and deserves a game.
Lycett doing everything right to get a spot but geez hard to squeeze in.

Butman and Wellers out injured.
Masto out for crapness.

We are already tall so can't replace 3 smalls with 2 talls and a small.

Maybe Lycett will miss out again to get cherry ripe in WAFL and Nelson come back in.
