Ruscoe is a free upgrade on Rotham.

A 3rd tall.

Except Ruscoe can play forward and back. I also feel he has a bit more of an edge to his game than Rorham.

If we cut 10 players we are signing DFA's.
Wouldnt be averse to him being on our list, he’s definitely in that ‘too good to only play state footy’ tier. Just haven’t loved his defensive performances at WAFL level, but am very surprised to see how tall he measures in at.

Would gladly have him as forward depth who can swing back in an emergency, but preferably not as an actual part of our defensive unit from a list management perspective.

Love the intel and I please provide more in the future if you have any.

Just draft intel? Of Doggies as well? Garcia likely going or staying?
Get some info on all aspects from a range of different clubs and then it branches out from there given how much the different departments talk and how much gets shared between clubs.
Last on Garcia was that he had re-signed and that that was announced to the playing group last week although its strange the media haven't caught onto it yet.

List turnover is good if you don't botch it on draft day.

True...but at least it's better than going back to the well with the same players over and over and over and expecting a different result when we seen the same result for years running.

Would a F2 and knobel from Freo satisfy a Liam Ryan trade?

I sorta get the Clurey interest. There’s probably a limited pool of “capable” players who are happy to come across as backups. No doubt Haynes for example would be better, but he would see himself as a best 22 type.

I guess the ensuing argument is whether he’s capable or not.

Going by Cal's latest phantom guide and assuming Hawks offer up 12 and 27 for Barrass, we could go to the draft and get
3 - a true midfielder in Draper or Lalor or M Reid (I would want these 3 above Smillie)
12 - another mid like Lindsay or a mid forward like Hotton (I prefer the former)
23 - a half back like Oliver (assuming we just miss on Travaglia)
27 - a KPD like Mraz (assuming foot OK) or Dennis or Gerryn

59 - Davis as an outside wing
NGA match may not be needed on Champion as a small forward/high half forward
With names such as moraes, gross, Oliver, Mraz, Gerryn being forecasted as potentially available at these picks I really hope we don’t give either up for a 27 year old Liam Baker.

For all the Carroll talk, can’t really find much either way on him from the Blues board.

Decent size, 22 times per game at VFL level over his career (27 per game this year). Good enough to be near the Carlton squad (sub seven times which is annoying).

Obviously their midfield is a lot stronger than ours, but why would he be a delisted free agent and not someone they’d try to squeeze a third/fourth out of given he’s 21 and his numbers say very clearly an AFL list calibre guy.

That'd probably do it if they think knobel can take over the ruck in a couple of years

I'd rather scour the state leagues and sign the best mature-aged (~23-25 year old) key back we can find. Clurey at 30 makes no sense..
Or would putting a delisted DGB on the rookie list be enough coverage til we draft and develop our own mcgovern replacement?

Hes a cog in the machine guy, not the starter motor or timing belt

Yep has done some nice things when he got a chance. I remember Rd0 when he got subbed on and looked pretty good. A DFA would be a treat but will be a minimal trade at worst

And I understand cars, so this is a great summation.

Teams need cogs in the machine though, and a 21 year old cog in the machine who just can’t quite get into a top four talent midfield doesn’t scream delist to me.

I’ll gladly take it, well worth kicking the tires on even if he just proves to be a reliable WAFL option who replaces Luke Edwards’ minutes occasionally, but something’s not adding up to me.

Especially as they have some bids to match so late picks are useful there.

If that trade plays out here would be my preference:
3 - Finn O'Sullivan (outside leaning mid) or Harvey Langford (inside leaning mid)

12 - Tobie Travaglia (make it happen)

23 - Christian Moraes or Xavier Lindsay (too good to pass up if either is available at this pick)

27 - Possibly a tall defender in Alix Tauru, Noah Mraz or Matt Whitlock
59 - James Barrat - he is demonstrating to be an elite interceptor down back. I spoke to him after the Geelong Falcons game two weeks ago and asked him who he styles his game on and he said it was Tom Barrass.

I'd be happy with this draft hand. Still have concerns with FOS but the quality is there.

Yep means we get an elite outside (or inside) mid, a running HBF/winger, a high production mid/forward, a lockdown defender and an intercepting defender as well as Champion.
Also Barrat would immediately be an improvement on Rotham even straight out of the gate.
Honestly doubt he will last to our final pick though.

This outcome with Xavier Lindsay and Noah Mraz is Randy Marsh areas.
