Draft Selection #10

Scott Selwood eligible?

Not 100% sure if he is available, I have a sneaking suspicion he is, but I'd love the youngest Selwood in Adelaide colours. After what Joel has done this year, and form all reports Scott could be the best of the lot... pretty exciting stuff. But if he is as good as that, you would expect him to go well and truly before pick 10.

From what I heard he's not as good as Joel Selwood. On another point, is our first pick now pick 11 instead of 10? From Triple M radio this afternoon I heard that Sydney have pick 10...

Midfield pace - I don't care what he calls himself
What about David MacKay? Will he be ready next year or has he some time to go. What were his injuries this year?
"After loading up on talls with their first two selections in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft, the Crows added Mackay to the midfield mix with their third round choice. The quick and long-kicking on-baller represented Vic Metro at the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships last year and was a valuable contributor to the Oakleigh Chargers’ TAC Cup premiership."

Why is the youngest brother always "the best of the lot"

Early in his career even Trevor Chappell was said to better than Ian or Greg. Now he's remembered for just 1 thing.

Scott Selwood eligible?
Yes he is and he is likely to go around that Pick 10. He's one of the players in that 9-20 group in my mind.

Joel is better and will always be better than Scott. Scott will be better than the twins though. He's good and bottom aged so a bit younger than most in this draft.
As far as I know we still have Pick 10. That seems like an error from Triple M.

PATRICK VESZPREMI!

Thats what I want. We need a big arrogant **** who can take people on and show some candy. Palmer certainly fits the bill but will probably be gone. We lack that agression and arrongance...
OH GOD! THIS IS PATRICK VESZPREMI! That is him described to a tee. He has confidence by the bucket load, loves to tuck the ball under his arm and back himself in and has explosive pace. Runs a sub 3.00 20m sprint. He is aggressive, an arrogant sort of footy player, has plenty of X Factor and I am convinced that he will be a superstar. Thing is, he is not really talked about as a really early selection and I think he will fall to Pick 10. In my mind we would be mental not to take him.

Now for a bit of excitement. Today in the TAC Cup Qualifying Final the Knights were struggling in the first. He started on the bench and had an immediate impact in the forward line. He rotated between the bench and the forward pocket and kicked 8.4 off 14 kicks.

He can play anywhere. Great in the guts and has a very strong upper body so he does plenty of grunt work. His pace off the mark and strength often allows him to bust through traffic with the ball. I've seen him play in a sweeping role across the half back flank and when he pinches up forward he's always good for some goals. Today was the first time I've seen him spend a sustained period of time up forward and he finished with 12 scoring shots (8.4) in swirly conditions at Optus Oval.

Seriously, Patrick Veszpremi. Get on it!

lol if he wasn't a high pick before, he definitately is now after kicking 8.4.
Sounds good, the key is are we going to go for a workmanlike midfielder.

Or a hard running break the lines sort of midfielder like Palmer, Vesprazmi, Judd sort of player.

We need pace.

Sounds Judd like to me :D. Was he eligible last year? If so why wasn't he taken last year? From you description he sounds like a Judd clone:D.

Will PV be available

You bet ya. :thumbsu:
Was in the U/18 AA Super draft team at the age of 16 .

Aka Joel Selwood 2005.

Remember, this was 2006 not 2007! He wasn't in the 2007 AA team though.

He was not elligible last year, but as earlsta posted he made U/18 in 2006 as a bottom ager. I wouldn't say he's like Judd. Judd has a lot of class. Veszpremi is more your fist pumping, chest beating, bash and crash sort of player. The kind of player he reminds me of is a much better version of Martin Mattner from 2005 (but with more of a bias towards power rather than being evasive).

Today might raise eyebrows but it won't drastically change his draft position. You've gotta remember that recruiters have been watching these guys for years. I do fear that he might not be there at Pick 10, but I don't really see him going any earlier than 8 ie. he'll be in our range but we might just miss.

For the record, this year he missed the U/18 National Championships with a broken thumb.

They obviously haven't allowed for the priority pick.

16 2 (Richmond)
15 1,3 (Carlton)
14 4 (Melbourne)
13 5 (WB)
12 6 (Essendon)
11 7 (Freo)
10 8 (Brisbane)
09 9 (St Kilda)
08 10 (Crows)
07 11 (Sydney)

Top stuff VC :thumbsu:

So the strategy should still be trade Meesen and pick 10 for say 5-6 ?

We do that who would you grab... Ebert or PV
Very interesting. I haven't seen as much of Ebert as I would have liked. My personal preference would be Veszpremi, I suspect the club would go Ebert. I certainly wouldn't be unhappy with Ebert. Home grown talent would be the safe option, I guess.

Agree with this. Palmer is our man hopefully we can do what we can to pick him up!

We desperately need more midfielders since we will have 3 more big retirements in the next 1-2 years. This is putting a lot of pressure on Hentschell, Sellar and Tippet but we can't afford to waste another 1st round pick on a project player tall as they dont seem to work out for us.

Dont forget we got walker to add to this list. AA forward

I dont know who we will pick but I think the best possible midfeilder available would be a good start. Ebert would be good but I think he will be gone. His mate Greenwood would be handy as well. That vesparm, vazperzmi or whatever his name is from all reports sound like you could do a lot worse with a tenth draft pick. If we do get him hopefully we can assign him a new name to something that I can pronounce.
