Just put things in perspective here. Teams and list managers don't plan for a things a year out. Its usually several years. Players they want to draft, trade in and out and free agents. Even with that Roughs cancer came back which ruined him as a footballer. He could have played on for quite a few years like Hawkins.
No cancer he would have played on for a long time and our fortunes could have been very different from 2016 onwards.

Teams plan well in advance but the plan still has to be flexible and easily adjusted to the circumstances. Rough was the player we couldn’t have afforded to lose if the top up strategy was to work.

Yes but you don't renege on plans that you put in place for years in the case of JOM. Doesn't augur well for making any future plans with players. Anyways this is all irrelevant as hindsight is always king and the decisions have already been made.

I am a Geelong supporter and I was at the game. I didn't hear any booing of Jack. I did hear the umpires being booed when the obvious frees were overlooked.
There was some loud booing the 1st time he got the ball. Thought it was interesting as generally Geelong supporters are big booers in the games I've been to

That is why it surprised me. It may have been the player introductions on the scoreboard prior to thd game but I thought it was his first touch
 
I thought the Hawks had a better midfield than they did. I probably overestimated them at the start of this season because of a couple of wins they had last year even with Will Day out.
Midfield is probably the least of our problems going forward, it’s just that we’ve got so many youngsters who have fill the void when Day is injured and Newk/Nash are down.

This epic masterpiece is one of the finest fantasy scores ever recorded.

While he had already attracted attention and widespread praise for his scores for 'Big Wednesday' and 'The Blue Lagoon', there's no doubting which score it was which firmly announced the arrival of Basil Poledouris in the upper echelons of film scorers - John Milius's Conan the Barbarian. The film is utterly ludicrous, so the one thing that audiences were most likely to notice (apart from the emergence as an actor of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former Mr Universe) was the music, which was a vital component in the film.

Poledouris positively revelled when given the chance to write a grand, old-fashioned score like this - it's full of the spirit of the Golden Age masters such as Alfred Newman and, especially, Miklos Rozsa - an overwhelmingly exciting, very long score which pretty much sustains the film by itself. The two main themes are introduced in the first two tracks - the muscular theme for Conan himself in "Anvil of Crom" (which features 24 French Horns!) is a propulsive, aggressive theme perfect for the muscular hero; and then a more fluid, but no less thrilling, theme appears in "Riddle of Steel" which goes on to be used as a building block for much of the action music (of which there is no shortage).

This is one of those rare scores which not only works beautifully as a whole, but where each piece is a self-contained gem in itself. Poledouris was given an unusually-long period of time to write the score, and responded by providing the kind of genuine musical quality which is possessed by only the very finest film scores (of which this is undoubtedly one). Take a piece like "Wheel of Pain", a fantastic piece of action music with a proper beginning, middle and end.

For all the wonderful action music, that's not all the score is about - "Atlantean Sword" is full of a sense of honour and glory, a rousing and inspirational piece. There's also a grand, sweeping love theme ("Wifeing") which is gloriously over-the-top. "Mountain of Power Procession" is surely a tribute to Rozsa, very much recalling that composer's Roman scores. One of the highlights is "The Orgy", a piece which builds and builds into a frenzy of orchestra and choir. "Battle of the Mounds" might be the finest action piece, a true thrill-ride which again makes full use of both the large orchestra and choir as Poledouris provides pulsating musical commentary to a scene which is completely dull and lifeless in the film.

Conan the Barbarian is a fantastic film score, and makes a fantastic album. The only slight criticism is with the Italian orchestra's performance, which might politely be described as "enthusiastic", or impolitely as "bad", but other than that you can't go wrong. Poledouris worked on a few more big fantasies in his career, but none afforded him the chance to write a score quite this complex and yet so directly emotional. It's beautifully-constructed, brilliant music.

Curious, did the AFL say which were the frees that should have been paid to Ginni. It'll be an interesting few weeks if it was the arm raise ones.
The arm raise one's were already high. Laura Kane said at first it was a couple, then says a few so it could have been more than 2
They didn't say which free kicks were the ones that should have been paid though

I think he should be developed into a mid. His awareness and timing is incredible.

He times it so well that I think that anything on the arm ends high, but it's all happens in one fluid motion so it never stops on the arm before going up like it did with Selwood. I think he should be developed into a mid. His awareness and timing is incredible.
Definitely not a full time mid but I wouldn't mind seeing stints like Melbourne do with Pickett and we did with Rioli and throw him in the centre bounce and then push forward. Think he could do enormous damage that way however we need to get our midfield better developed to accommodate that. Might be something to explore next season

I think he's too slow for small forward in the long run and needs to player higher up the ground. There's a lot of development needed, but he's a pretty exceptional talent.
