Hahahaha you have no good kids at Geelong even though you tried to get some desperately in the trade period - which failed miserably mind you. Bowes is rubbish (incl the trade), Henry was better at Collingwood, Bruhn is ok, Holmes and De Koning are the only two kids on your list that are solid.

What's scary abt our list is that the kids we have aren't even the most talented kids in the comp.. we never had any top 3 picks or anything and still been able to develop and find good talent. Just another reason why opposition teams are sulking over us.

Cats aren't making the finals this year. No Selwood, no Geelong. It's over. Enjoy your 2023 flag for the next decade.
You've gone off half-cocked when I've been a massive fan of where your list is headed.

I also find it strange how we aren't making finals yet winning the flag at the same time.

Try to interpret posts slowly next time.

I apologise on behalf of the two Hawks supporters that didn't actually read your posts. There are some absolutely clueless Hawks fans on this board.

Speaking of tanking.

How is it possible that West Coast only took one player in the mid-season draft? They have so many injuries they can barely field a team each week, yet only opened one list spot for the mid-season draft. Plenty of ready-to-go players sitting right there (Including 25-year-old Cal Brown, getting 30+ disposals every week), and they only take one player. One week later, it's announced that Nic Nat needs achilles surgery and is ruled out for the season. What the hell?

I guess they want Harley Reid

If Damo had any sense in him, maybe the AFL should "punish" West Coast instead? They're tanking when everyone knows they'll clearly finish last even if they don't tank cuz that's how bad they are. So there's no need to tank for them to get the No 1 pick realistically. But the effort they put in every week is disgraceful to the competition. The Eagles are too good of a footy club to be this horrible. Maybe they should merge with Tasmania to form the Tasmanian Eagles.

Yes absolutely terrifying. I hear half the clubs are thinking about folding.

It’s a pity for them that Harley is not too keen on WA.
He'll be JHF 2.0 imo. Unless the Eagles completely turn things around (probably have to sack the coach and make massive changes to do that), I reckon Reid will demand a trade to Victoria after a year. Whoever that club may be will be lucky as hell, just as you can clearly see the results showing with Port Adelaide right now. I'm not saying JHF alone turned Port around, but players like these who are likely ready to go at AFL level in about a year or two just add another dimension to teams that already have good players and a good system to run by.

I don't know the statistics but was reading that West Coast have a decent reputation for retaining non Western Australian players, but is that mostly due to the club being - up until recently - mostly successful for their entire existence?

I'm sure they do, but if they can't turn around their fitness department they'll start losing players. They've had the longest injury crisis I can remember at any club. It's like a graveyard over there. Was listening to a podcast the other day where it was (jokingly) suggested that a worksafe inspection would see the club closed down.

Threads gone dormant. Odd.

Surely the two resident Blues fans will have a bit to say this week leading up to the match, or are they a bit anxious and waiting for the result before launching back in here with renewed bluster?

The only thing we have in our favour is the bye. Otherwise Carlton should smack us upside and keep the Carlton/ Collingwood thread flickering another week

Not really. Hawks fans only flock here after a win. :)
