We could land this deal in a slam dunk today - Atkins compo pick or PSD.
But no... patience, my friends... patience. To go from a position of holding all the cards to getting utterly reamed takes time. Missing an open goal like this is something you can't rush.
You'd think GWS would be in a hurry to close it, though. If Hately gets traded that leaves our PSD pick still open. Essendon's threat to use the PSD to claim Caldwell becomes a bit weaker if they face getting beaten to the punch by us. As long as the Hately trade remains unresolved, our PSD pick is still an option for Hately, which means there's less risk to Essendon of us grabbing Caldwell.

I wonder if it won't be announced until Caldwell and Essendon are sorted. I assume GWS are looking for a reasonably low pick for Caldwell .
GWS might not want to set a precedent with Hately if we trade a pick in the 30/40s, as Essendon would look for a similar outcome for Caldwell.
This is on the proviso we actually get a little bit tougher with negotiations considering we do have pick 1 in the PSD.

Points wise it works out as approx pick 23 for Caldwell. Don't think that's far off the mark.

For instance, we are still trying to work out who this Jack Hately kid is. Then we need to find a phone number for GWS because Reidy changed his phone and lost some numbers.
Once we get that started we just have to wait for Roo to finish his boys weekend and then to get over his hangover.
Once that is sorted we can probably begin. Unless we are watching the vote counting.
