The only way we can even break even this off season is to pay big time unders for Hately. We should offer a very late pick and nothing more. A fourth rounder or a future fourth. There is absolutely no point in trying to be reasonable in this league any more. The Giants along with half the league, have the AFL’s arm up their backs. No one bats an eyelid at screwing our club on player movements. We have to be absolutely ruthless and gouge as much as we can out of everything coming our way to ever be competitive from now on. **** everyone else! **** them!

Why isn't this done yet?
Kelly's brushing up on his poker game .......he'll get to it, I'm sure

Why would Hately choose to go to the crows.

Well he's got a better chance of getting game time in our side compared to any other in the league.

He can do a few years with us, prove himself on the big stage and then move on because we will let him go cheap.

Anyone that writes off a young player after 2 seasons never goes well, Himmelberg a prime example this year. I’ll be extremely worried if Jones and McHenry haven’t improved their output in 2 years time, but I’m very confident I won’t need to worry at all then. I don’t get why supporters decide to write off young players after a couple of seasons; by your metrics Gary Ablett Jr would’ve been delisted after 2 seasons (not saying they will turn out like Gaz, but he took a number of seasons to start producing high quality consistent footy). Heck, Cotchin struggled to get on the park in his first couple of seasons. Why not just understand players all develop at different rates and to give 4-5 years to more accurately rate their output?

Gaz kicked 26 goals in his second year, Cotchin averaged 17 possies a game in his first year
Agreed you can’t write young players off early but you don’t expect midfielders picked in the top 10 to not be capable of getting a kick. The main concern being Jones and McHenry look like boys completely out of there depth. Particularly Jones - not sure I have seen an early mid look further from being a player
Hopefully we see improvement in 2021 otherwise we have a clear bust

Why would Hately choose to go to the crows.

Optically, it makes a lot of sense. Very clear path to a best 22 player in his preferred position and should he make it, he could probably dine out for a long while being the SA kid who came back to star for one of his hometown club.

Plus we're probably paying him above what would be the normal for a player in Hately, seeing we would be really struggling to get to 95% at this point (well, surely, we should be really struggling).

Wouldn't Binuk's value be in choosing good players with bad picks? We don't need a math nerd to choose good players with good picks.
Players with big upside often don't find a lot of football or tick over the stat sheet too much, they're the diamonds in the rough so I think that's more down to a keen eye from the recruiter re analysis IMO.
