Ouch

Out-of-contract forward Jack Martin was subbed out of the game at quarter-time with a hamstring strain and might have played his final game of 2024, following another soft tissue setback for the West Australian.

Lachie Fogarty also exited the game at the same time due to a shoulder injury, Jordan Boyd played out the game after injuring his adductor in the first quarter and couldn't impact, while Adam Saad injured his hamstring late.

In the week where Carlton high performance boss Andrew Russell announced he is departing the club at the completion of the season, Blues coach Michael Voss conceded the relentless injury issues have had an impact.

Carlton were at their peak and Geelong were in a trough before starting to build before finals.

We were also moving pieces around trying to find players as we are very much transitioning. Carlton are expected to make top four. Christ! Some had them making a bloody grand final.

This is what's remarkable about the club, we now have Dempsey and Mannagh well entrenched in the best 22. Humphries is another who looks exciting.
So we have essentially replaced O'Conner, Guthrie and Tuohy.

No one will ever replace Hawkins but if Neale continues improving, what more can you say.

Hmm supposedly ESS fans threw stuff at GCS players after the game.

If true ban those ****s forever.
To be fair to them the Bombers fans were aiming for their own players, but like their last quarter they couldn't hit the target.
