Harry McKay is when you order Peter Wright from Wish, only he's allergic to goal scoring

****in how good is peter wright, hasn't missed a step since his last game.

think that BZT/Leverde did good to drag mckay and curnow up the ground constantly, really spread their garbage forward line even thinner

Carlton can’t compete with us, the team they pick and the way they play.

You always are cautious pregame about whether the game will go the way you hope - but the lack of running ability in Carlton’s 22 makes it really difficult to generate enough decent scoring opportunities, and as we saw in the 3rd quarter, makes it difficult to defend when a team gets a run on like we did.

Long may it continue.

10:50 to go, 3rd quarter.
The gather by martin to hobbs to Caldwell to guelf, fumble back to Caldwell to menzie, goal.

Great execution by handball, hit their targets, and they got there quick.
The call by Bennett, Superb.

That play was the capstone on 9mins of absolutely dominant football and is the type of thing that sucks the life out of a team and is something you can bottle.
That was belief.

My old man passed away last October. He hated Carlton with a passion. Just hated them.

In 2017 he ended up in hospital with what we believed was a mild stroke. It was very weird. He spent roughly three weeks recovering at the Royal Melbourne in a dark windowless room and he hated it. My younger brother and I went in to visit him to cheer him up knowing he’s been down in the dumps. The stroke affected his speech so Dad just chose not to speak at all whilst he was there.

So my brother and I chatted to him about news in general and he’d just nod, or we’d talk about the kids and again he’d sort of shuffle in his bed and sort of grunt and nod. He was giving us nothing. So we decided to talk about footy in an effort to perk him up.

My younger brother mentioned Essendon had a good win that week and he sort of nodded and then my brother said ‘Poor old Carlton lost to Sydney by about 80 points to Sydney. They’re up s**t creek right now…’

My Dad turned his head and looked at us both with true anger in his eyes and said the first words he’d said all week ‘FAAAARK CARLTON!’

From that moment we knew he’d be ok.

I hope wherever he is now he enjoyed that tonight. Miss him.
My Dad the same, we had to leave parties back in the day because the old boy would start up on c*rlton, poor mum,”right kids in the car, NOW”
In standing room tonight, said to the young fella “This is as good as it gets for me mate”

Menzie got his face flattened last week. Didn’t hesitate hitting a contest this week. Guys got balls and can finish. Think Scott would like him.
This is the hardest essendon side ive seen since 2000 with MJ, JJ, solomon, barnard, etc

Perkins, hobbs, menzie, caldwell, duz - zero fear for contact.
Redman, lav and guelf too

There was a moment when wright outmarked weitering, and langford gave him a bump and smirk
I like what langford has become.

Also, no staredown from weit this week. Disappointing

This stare down?

Brenton Sanderson can suck dick! It will be interesting to hear his bullshit take this week!!

Great win. Ballsy move by Scott moving Merrett forward. The players have all bought in on Scott ..great to see.

Other highlight was Garry Lyon thinking Joe Misiti was the CEO Craig Vozzo.

Carlton stink.

Our first half was mostly pretty crappy but the first half of the third had some pretty boss stuff, that handball chain ending in the Menzie goal and Redman’s handball and run 1-2-3 to set up Wright was awesome.

So much to like about Martin, Caldwell, Hobbs, Draper, Menzie and many others at the moment.

Still butchering the ball too much to be a legitimate contender.
Who the hell thinks we are a contender fgds? Like Zach says you have to celebrate small wins. Yes we do butcher the ball and I do believe over all we look like a more sloppy team this year than recent years past from an execution standpoint.

You know what I believe Brad has given them? A license to take chances and if they do fu they won’t be punished for it. I know it’s not pretty but I do believe he has got the absolute best out of this mob.

None of what he’s said is incorrect.

It’s all completely valid
He’s not wrong but I do think Sanderson criticism of why Brad is coaching in that manner is simplistic.

If you have Carey you play Pagan’s paddock. We are obviously playing this way to maximise our strengths and minimise the opposition’s strength.

Here's Menzie, 5 most immediate bodies being Carlton players, and you're thinking, "surely nothing's gonna come out of this". Nek minnit, turns it into a goal.

That never give up attitude is what I like seeing, that was worth just as much as a win to me.
wasn’t a fan of the kick langford made but he clearly knew something i didn’t, it worked out too well.

it’s also been said to death in the match thread im sure but the umpiring was shit, we got way too many, and i’m sure some of them were because carlton play like dogs but even then
