Mansell.

We'll be too tall in the back half if Miller comes in for him.
I think Miller makes sense, Casboult-Tarrant, Chol-Miller

Grimes/broad on rankine and the other shifts into the spare interceptor, as well as Gibcus on someone like holman

Can lose the clearances but shouldn't give them easy takeaways just because we are small. Surely can apply more pressure and force them to kick quickly and not just run into open goals all game. Short was poor last week as well.

Was a stat on On The Couch last night that our tackling efficiency this year is 2nd worst ever recorded. That is pretty much broken tackles i think. So we have plenty of improvement.

Also if the weather is poor it won't allow the easy clean clearances West Coast were getting atleast. Games are way more scrappy on the GC.

The pies were very lucky to win last week. Just a bit more experience and polish. Suns smacked them around the ball. Not too often you get done with those numbers so we’re going to have to put in a good shift

Sorry but why Mansell? last time he played he got his pants pulled down by Ginnivan who kicked 3 goals on him. Bring in Miller and have Grimes/Rioli take Rankine.
Pants pulled down? He had 5 touches. Okay 3 of them were goals but I wouldn't say he was badly beaten.

Looking at the fixture, we could well win the next seven.
Suns, North, Freo (home), Brisbane, Power, Hawks, Dons.
Only two in seven are interstate.
Brisbane at the MCG should be a cracker.
We'll go 4-3 and make the 8 on percentage.

Suns W (just)
North W
Frem W (just)
Bris L
Port L
Hawks W
Ess L (hate to say it but they found their mojo which is our old stolen gamestyle, and will go undefeated from here and finish 11-11)

Wanna burn with rage? Look at the way the Bombers celebrate every goal like it was the most amazing thing anyone has ever done in that moment in time. Stringer, Draper and Guelfi especially, gah.

its not hard to win the close ones when youre in the umps mouths like the pies

Yeah that non-call when Ginnivan took Miller's legs out, then moments later the Pies getting a holding the ball free which was simply bullshit, it just puts the integrity of the game into question, it really does.

It's like us, we're always down the bottom for frees and people say It'S thE WaY thEY PLaY, but why are the same teams (Pies) always up the top then? Is it the way they play (despite having a new coach and gameplan, which btw was heavily lifted from us)?

With Vlastuin out, rather than trying to replace him like for like, I'd be putting Grimes into his intercept role and bringing in another key defender. With some luck Balta is ready, if not then Miller.

Prestia in for Dusty, and I would've said Stack for MRJ but not to be, so Lambert if he is fit enough. Rest him for North.

Gibcus, Tarrant, Broad
D. Rioli, Miller, Grimes
McIntosh, Ross, Pickett
Edwards, Riewoldt, Lambert
Bolton, Lynch, Castagna
Nankervis, Prestia, Graham
Soldo, Baker, Short, Ralphsmith

The following week hopefully Balta, Vlastuin, Cotchin, Martin for Miller, Gibcus, Castagna and Ralphsmith

penciling in this one for a WIN, just. Suns and Hawks (hear me out...) danger games.
We always used to beat hawks in the dead rubber rounds when they were top of the table and we were getting Cotchin, Martin....and they have shown their best is good enough to beat a team resting for finals.
Suns: Tigs have lost more than their share v Suns.. but I think they are depleted enough for us to roll them sans Martin.
Bris -Win. pretenders.
Port classy win fk off Pt
Essendon -B grade us; Win
Hawks - oops... training load?
who'd I miss? Oh, North M...

Was the Ginnovin/Miller one actually a free kick that everyone says it was? Yeah he slides in very dangerously, but Miller jumps out of the way. Surely you can't get a free for contact below the knees if there is no contact.

But yes we are going to get absolutely reamed this week. Any free kick loss differential in single figures is a win.
At this point, best you get your seeing eye dog to the optometrist.

Note: previously selected the wrong quote, apologies for this.

With Vlastuin out we really need Grimes and Broad to do more intercepting than normal. So they won’t want either of those 2 kept busy by Rankine, Chol or Casboult. So Tarrant/Casboult, Gibcus or Miller/Chol and Baker/Rankine to start with.

Midfield can cope without Baker with Prestia back. Stopping Rankine needs to be our number 1 priority … their whole offence revolves around his goals and assists (I’m hoping they don’t muck around and just put Grimes on him, but just not sure they’ll do that…. bloody Vlastuin’s brain fade may end up costing us this game ) ….
