Outscored for 3 of the 4 quarters
Beaten in most of the important stats
Kicked 4 goals in the 2nd half
Elton dropping mark/spoiling goal
Grimes hearing footsteps drops mark
Dusty a couple of times butchering it or trying to win it off his own boot

But no. Umpiring cost you.

Mirrors aren't that expensive

Take it for what it is. You played well. You stayed in the game. You are heading in the right direction. But you aren't quite good enough to be at your best for four quarters against top teams. Yet !!

**** off dickhead

Oh I have Sir.

I find it ironic that a few of your more open minded supporters actually "liked" the post. To each their own. Hooroo
**** off idiot. You guys are the second least successful AFL team ever. You've been in the league 100 years and won two flags. You've just won a flag and you've got like 30k members. All of a sudden you think you're the big dogs. Can't wait to see you fold or move to Ballarat.

Very surprised at the calls for Markov to be dropped.
McIntosh too... Do people actually watch the game before acting like a professional list manager?

Out: Vlastuin (shoulder), Elton (omitted), Castagna (omitted)
In: Nankervis, Lennon, Bolton

Grimes Rance Short
Houli Astbury B.Ellis
C.Ellis Grigg McIntosh
Rioli Nankervis Bolton
Butler Reiwoldt Martin
Soldo Cotchin Lambert
Lennon Markov Caddy Miles

Elton stiff to get dropped but he'd get monstered by Sandilands and we need to try Nank forward a bit more given Griff looks unlikely to return. Todd needs to go back and dominate a game of VFL.
Castagna average last 3 games, applies pressure but hasn't kicked the goals. Would stay in any other side but we have Bolton and Stengle ready to play.
Lennon just can't replicate his VFL form up forward so would like to see him used like Vlastuin in defence. Played well down back a few seasons ago. Nothing permanent (just until Vlas gets back) but something for him to get more of the ball.
Lambert vs Neale is the only key matchup other than Griggs vs 211.
Prediction: Tigers by 46 points

The issue i have with the short decision was exactly how the umpire came to that decision considering a) It was in our fwd line in a pack situation and b).With less than a minute to go why the hell would one of our players want to put it out of bounds when we are 5pts down?We will never know if it was a throw in to what the outcome was and besides we were friggen 36pts up at one stage so we should never have been in that situation anyway but thats another debate.

We were up by 36 and we were up at qtr time last week. It's simple, the oppo coaches worked us out and changed things and our coaches did **** all. We have some incredibly dumb decision makers on the ground and in the box.

44,000 actually.
And when history is paying the bills or getting modern day success, let us know.

44k and you won your first flag in 60 years. That's a disgrace. You have the whole of the western suburbs to tap into.

Reality is that decision cost us the game. It was brutal but we came within 5 points of the premiers, after last weeks demolition, that's something to be proud of.

Bevo realized by qtr time that Soldo is extremely predictable with his tap outs and instructed his players to feed off them. His "clever" little over the shoulder taps were almost entirely roved by the opposition. We need a bona fide ruck coach.

Then you'd think our mids would be in that position or word Soldo up as to where to tap
Not blaming a first gamer who amassed 42 hit outs
Mids were beaten at the clearances

It pissed me the hell off. Bontompelli was just sitting out the back racking them up whist he kept tapping it like that.

Bolton not a bad call considering it is a WA team we play

Didn't this happen late last season too? I think it is the signs of a side learning to play a new way. It will take time. This season is preparation for the next few years but this year is not going to be THE year. Our first quarters over the last couple of rounds have been very good. Last night we kept it up for much longer than last week.

In the context of evaluating performance in any single game it gets really frustrating but in a wider context of looking at seasons I reckon this year is showing we are going in a very good direction with this group.
Yep i completely agree. Its still disappointing to lose a close one like that but we have exceeded everyones expectations this year and I like the new gameplan. Neil Balme seems to know what he is doing, the trading was great in the offseason. The future looks pretty good considering how many young guys we had out there last night and they had a good crack against a premiership side. We were missing Vlastuin for most of the game, plus conca, prestia, nank, and we have only one forward so you cant really complain about the performance.

Great post. Only thing I'm not sure of is Lennon in the back line.
He certainly needs to get more of the ball though and he tends to use it well when he does.
Between him and Lloyd it's line ball. Lloyd does seem to have a better goal sense, but I don't think he works hard enough defensively (a criticism of Lennon I've read but don't necessarily agree with).

Nothing wrong with your post at all. I thought it was spot on.
