First half was great to watch but we seemed to lose composure and seemed unable to execute game plan in the 3rd. Then we ran out of steam in the 4th, their rucks dominated and we couldn’t hit the barn when kicking for goal. Disappointing 2nd half

Time to reset expectations for the season. Was very bullish and had us top 4, but I think needs to be seen as year 1 of the rebuild. Taranto and Hopper have been good acquisitions we need to build around, they were both good again tonight. Unfortunately we won’t have too many early picks to complement them, and so we’ll need to turn some of our young talent into stars.

Hope we get experience into the younger tier now — Cumberland, Ryan, Clarke, Sonsie and Gibcus look like they all belong and will build into good players. Clarke is clean and has good vision, we should keep him in. Cumberland needs to build consistency but is exciting and impacts.

Mansell and Ralphsmith won’t make the grade… should not get games. Maurice Jnr got a lot of development to do… not sure on him. Young seems like a Band-Aid solution to me… effort good but does he really have development head room?

As for the next tier up, Bolton and Balta need to find consistency. Short had a good game back, we missed his foot skills and vision. Pickett and Vlaustin had poor games… brain farts leading to goals.

Good to see Riewoldt kicking clutch goals, and thought Cotchin was better than last week.

I guess the hardest part of our fixture is over?

Nope. Got a 4 week run of Geelong, Essendon, Port and Giants coming up too.

Broady thank god is back next week.

Sonsie to come in and be given a good run of games.

Ralphsmith out until he learns to kick and hit targets under pressure. Or even under no pressure.

Mansell ? No idea where that all ends up ?

Cumberland, Ryan, Clarke, Miller play them rest of year.

Overall our Tiger cubs go alright. The future is bright.

And I'm backing Dimma 100%. The rebuild is upon us and I'm gonna enjoy the ride.

We won't make the 8 but when we click I reckon we're gonna make a mess of some of the so called finals prospects the rest of the year.

GO TIGES 🐯 Have a nice evening fellas. Be kind to one another. Lest we forget.

Great post.

Heard some very different things about Chocos influence at the club
Did help Dusty but he was far from a positive influence in the club
You think it’s a coincidence that he had to go back to school footy afterwards for a few years before getting another afl gig
Yep, the 2016 review identified these things and was a big part of why he was moved on.

Outs - Ralph-Smith, Vlastiun, MRJ, Cotchin,

Ins - Broad, Ross, Sonsie, Dow

Sub - Cotch

I’d love to drop Miller but we don’t have anyone to replace him.. Soldo and Biggie not ready and we playing against Witts

Wouldn’t be against giving Bauer a debut either, looks the goods in VFL
Agree on Bauer has shown good skills and composure in the twos but can only see him taking over a third back position. Young was found out a bit today but he is young and has performed well so far I for one think we should persist with him but he needs support and guidance

Vlastuin should consider himself lucky that Young will get dropped next week for Broad.
I’d still drop him for Bauer

How many credits can he have? Surely he’s burnt enough to have a spell

We just find new ways to lose and frustrate us. I don't know what's worse playing like champions for 1 quarter then losing or playing like a team that should win, turn it over, kick for shit at goal and still lose.

You could single out players at certain times and be critical but I really feel like we just got over run by a more composed side as the game wore on.

I think it was a collection of things for our loss, Moving Balta out of defence backfired, Van Rooyen kicked 3 after doing SFA.
Grundy & Gawn got on top of our young rucks after half time.
Our inexperienced guys missing easy set shots hurt us (even our experienced guys like Dusty)
Our backline turn overs cost us. Rioli. Vlastuin, Grimes had moments of madness tonight.
I could go on but I won't however it's pretty ironic that the 2 guys that we will need to move on at seasons end in Riewoldt and Cotchin were some of our better players.

Hardwick subs out Miller, then moves Balta out of an already depleted back line.

Result. Melbourne newby forward Van Roo dominates the final quarter kicks multiple goals.

Richmond smashed around the ball and in defence following Dimma's shifting the magnets.

Major coaching clanger.

What game were you watching? Grundy was destroying our rucks but Balta was able to stem that clearance flow. Tell me you weren’t watching that game with 12-minutes to go and thinking we were cooked and going to lose by 30+. The only reason we didn’t was because we levelled the ruck contest.

Demons were missing only Salem from their best team. Our backline was missing Tarrant, Gibcus and Broad - all 190cm+.

We won inside-50’s and contested ball. We lost that game because of poor kicking for goal, it’s as simple as that. Demons missed maybe 2 relatively easy shots. I reckon we missed 8.

Coaching is putting the team into a position to beat the flag favourites despite missing a heap of players. It’s not coaching when players miss easy shots.

For a game I expected us to lose by 50, I'm mad not to have won that... Filthy feeling.

Especially with Broad coming back in I think we will have enough experience down back i think we can afford to give him a spell so he can go back to basics

I think there's a lot more positive take away than negative tonight. No Nank, Broad, Graham, Lynch or Tarrant and still pushed them. Won the contested ball and inside 50s and had more scoring shots. Midfield probably got the better of the dees too.

Weve played 4 top 8 sides plus swans and dogs so it's been a tough run. We'll bank a few coming up.

Fairly close to how I expected it to unfold , competitive without winning , had our chances , 3g 8 in sec half flipping woeful , 10 more i50s ,, again our aerial ability is shit , ffs get bauer into the side . And find a spot for Ross and Dow ,,,change the side up ffs , what’s with going with same line up when we lose week in week out , rattle the changes

disagree our boy young was given the task and rightly so..... but got his pants pulled down by a younger van roo.
