No it didn't. Gibcus on Buddy worked for 2 and a half quarters as buddy couldn't get near it. What hurt was the silly free kicks that gave momentum and the easy clearances after goals. Had we been able to control the game like we did in the second and parts of the 4th, Buddy got nowhere near it.

Gibcus on Buddy was not why it was lost.

Are you kidding me he kicked 4 on him (2 early in the last when the game was on the line). Gibcus didn't take big marks over buddy, gibcus didn't punch balls out of his hands repeatedly. Buddy out marked him and gibcus panicked holding him too. Thats why we lost along with undisciplined acts by nank and grimes plus gibcus, also turned it over in the last not hitting the target with rioli slipping over and Swan's goal. I am calling it like i see it and that's the way it went down. Dimma makes the call to put grimes on him midway in the last, too late.

People who defend Titch are delirious as he got 11 possessions in a bruise free first half and then only 3 more when the game heated up in the second half . Two of them in the last 5min of the game. Just not up to it and Dumma is throwing away our season bc he won't make the hard calls.

Edwards was BOG in first half when we had a 5-goal lead.. yet you find a way to blame him for loss. Tarrant kept McDonald to 6 touches, 2 marks and no score.

Castagna putrid. Ross makes way too many basic errors. Bolton/Nank/Grimes give away 50m or downfield goals. Dusty misses a sitter. Soldo ineffectual. But yeah, let’s blame Edwards and Tarrant for the loss tonight. Your opinion will be respected more if it provides some balance.

Some reasons why we lost:

1 - Stupid free kicks to end the second and third quarters.

2 - Felt like we were on the wrong end of a few 12 point plays - moments where we should have been kicking for goal but have the ball up and the Swans kicked a goal.

3 - Jack Ross.

Thanks a lot as you don't need to be Einstein to realize that, but as I stated we're a genuine top 4 side and losing games bc of poor selection. Nothing to do with what you're saying as it's irrelevant. The point is we're in the mix and really should have only lost a game all season, but bc of poor selection we're killing our season and coughed up 4 games.

Castagna didn’t touch the ball all night, if he’s not dropped after that performance than there’s clearly a double standards thing going on with certain players

Rioli was dropped and booted out of our forward line for less, Stack was dropped a few weeks ago despite doing a better job than Castagna

Soldo provided nothing all night as 2nd forward and a ruck

Ross disappeared yet again, time the club puts a line through him as an AFL footballer

Edwards disappeared when the game went up a notch

Gibcus had his worst game of the season

Bolton hasn’t given a shit in the last 2 games

Someone else summed it up, I was nervous at half time cause we were actually getting all the frees that were there and we led the count and, outside of the absolute atrocity that was the Sam Reid free kick in the first minute (nearly threw up my Sandy Supreme pizza), we were getting a fair go. I knew it’d get evened up. I couldn’t watch the second half but apparently bad footy and even worse umpiring equals Richmond loss. Figures.


Someone please help me, I can’t quite put it into words… You know that feeling when you see free kicks like the Reid one, and the gif I just saw of the Rioli nudge, and the non 50 to Prestia, and you just HATE footy and what the rules have done to the game, and especially how it always seems to be Richmond that cops the worst of it? That absolute almost sickening rage in the throat that makes me wanna yell and never watch footy again. That simultaneously makes me think stupid things like wanting to try and become the umpiring boss and fix this absolutely ruined sport?! I hate it so much but I keep coming back week after week.

I've watched the Sam Ried "free Kick" a few times, but other that Buddy appealing, I still can't see it. I did see Jack being held around the waist 4-5 times at the other end, but not receiving those free kicks makes sense.... Ried received another free kick in front in the second quarter, and even he didn't know it was his "free kick". Just bizarre...

The midfield still created enough in the last. How do you not mention Dusty in that? he was pathetic in the second half. Doesnt look like winning a 1 on 1 anymore.

They’re your captains.

He's never happy with it but it keeps continuing, sooner or later he has to draw a line in the sand and do something about it. It undoubtedly cost us the game tonight.

The other continuing issue is our atrocious skills at times, under 7's stuff which just kills momentum, that goal where Rioli slipped over after a couple of simple targets were missed was comical to say the least.

Thought the game was classic Richmond to be honest, play great football, get out to a winning lead and then invite the opposition back into the game with ill disciplined brain fades and sloppy skills, it's like it was scripted.

Undermanned interstate against a good team did well enough to get out to a 5 goal lead, couldn't quite put them away when we had the chance and some stupid free kicks and ill discipline at important times ended up costing us.

Still plenty to like, Gibcus did well on Buddy for most of the night before Buddy got on top in the last. No shame in that and for a kid in his first season the learning experience will be better than anything. Ralphsmith Rioli & Ross all had their moments to impact the game and while they made some errors it's another learning experience in a big game.

Changes for Port will be tough given the team only went down by a goal. Hopefully Pickett Lynch Lambert & Balta are right to go for what will be a big game again.

We will hammer Port, I mean really hammer them after the bye in preparation for the SCUM the week after that.
