Can’t really comment on the game my son was born at 6.29 pm so I was a bit preoccupied . Saw bits and pieces throughout and when saw we were 30 up I thought end result would have been something like a 12 point win for us but managed to catch the final minute - no sound on so I had no idea a free kick was paid at the end and the 50 m penalty.

63 frees seems crazy becomes hard to watch and enjoy. Considering we had Lynch out and no real target up front it’s not a bad result. Shouldn’t have given the lead up but the SCG is a shocking ground to play can get cut up so easy quickly.

No idea who did what stats wise so again no comment but it’s a shame the little man witnessed his first Richmond loss on night one !!

Load up again after the bye with Balta and Lynch back and go again
Congrats.Hope you called him after our GOAT.
George!

and gibcus on buddy
Buddy’s only goals against Gibcus were two tin ass ones from outside 50 when he bombed it into the square and one where he lost a marking contest

His other goals were from a free kick from grimes and when Gibcus wasn’t even on him anymore

We should of had a defender manning the goal square not sure now that’s on Gibcus

Agree.
Buddy took two marks on the lead right in front of me in the first qtr. They were both out in front on the tit & there was nothing Gibbo could have done.

how the duck did we loose man
Undisciplined. Poor goal kicking in the end. Bombing it into 50 when they are intercepting everything.

But to be fair our goal kicking in the first half was above average. Finishing 15.10 is actually a good game.

Got mentioned in the commentary near the end, but at that point we had only had 1 inside 50 mark for the half. All our goals were from snaps, general play rather than set shots. When that happens its a bit harder to stay accurate.
Losing Lynch was a massive blow. Jack could literally do nothing, they just had all the attention on him and always someone ready to take the intercept mark when we continued to bomb it in to him,

Gibcus is sensational. Just think back to guys like Rance, Grimes and Vlaustin. Such elite defenders now but looked no where as good as Gibcus does when they started.Gibcus gets to come in and be mentored by those guys. Very very exciting.

Love that they chucked him on Franklin even if Franklin got on top of him in the 2nd half. We've heard Dimma say it in the past, he doesn't just coach for this game, he coaches for the rest of the season. Theres been a few moves hes done in the past which weren't the best option in that game, but it paid off big time at the end of the year when it matters. Even if it lost us this game (which I don't even know if anyone else could've stopped Buddy from kicking those) it will be worth it in the long run.

2 words …. Prohibited contact …. This actually happens all through the game ….. if this isn’t the worst free kick in the history of AFL then the first free to Reid for the opening goal is then …..should never have lost this game but is this really how the game is going to be umpired because if it is …. The GAME IS F##KED🤷🏻‍♂️

Even with the loss, this teams looking much like the premiership year Tiges that we did the start of this year and last year. We're more like early 2017 Tiges with the dropping close games, letting teams back in rather than the 2018/2019 unbeatable clutch team.

Lets hope we continue to build like in 2017 and it all pays off at the end of the year.

Was @ the game last nite.
A few observations.

Dusty is carrying some condition and struggles to break free of the contest.
Definitely not the player he was.
No motivation ?

Shedda was right in front of me in the last qtr & was absolutely spent.
Struggled to make any contest.

Where was George? I honestly did not sight him all nite. Only reason I know he was playing was because I saw him in a post goal celebration on the big screen. No sighting live.

Lot of comments about the last qtr but I have not seen one about Heywood’s mark on the goal line. A real killer.
Where were our rucks to punch thru 4 a behind ? It’s Bloody rucking 101 !!!

How about the free kick against Rioli? That may be even softer.

I know campaigners on here think I'm taking the piss but I reckon we can go on a massive run after the bye

He's pretty funny and very much on point lately, but needs a Trump style ban to keep him off or the Umps will absolutely go in dry again against Port
worried about what the umps might do to us in the carlspoon game

carlspoon are the new pets along with old favourites like the dogs and pies

We had our bookends missing in Balta and Lynch in the end it was costly on such a short ground.

Dimma educated Gibcus, fine but was costly and was one of the most decisive factors in our loss

Soldo cannot be a key position forward, drifting down as a third option yes very damaging, but structuring up as a key was plain dumb by the coaching staff

Gibcus looked sweet up forward with the goal he kicked...note to the RFC coaching staff do not try to stuff him up like Balta by dangling him forward then back then forward then back he is a generational player in the back line.

On a night which they were paying frees such as the first non free to set up the Swans opening goal to 50 metres penalties at a drop of the hat

for all of a sudden in the last seconds of the game the player suddenly had the complete benefit of the doubt even though

he booted the ball 50 metres over the boundary line after a whistle in play just shows why so many are not bothering to attend games.

The umpires about face rule interpretation plucked from their collective backside meant at the end our backside got reamed.

The umpire said it was the logical thing to do well you DH's if a player flinches slightly on the mark or just motions slightly with his arm its not logical to pay such a hefty penalty. So yes nearly every 50 metre penalty may not be logical due to cause verses penalty but you are not paid to be logical but prosecute the laws and a player booting the ball after a whistle 50 metres into the crowd when the game was not over is a 50 metre penalty every day of the week.

The game is in a sad state of umpiring and we are feeding into these poor umpires hands because we have not adapted to this lunacy.

Our best chance it appears is to scrape into top 8. We have a chance with a fit side. I highly doubt we will have one with the fragile older bodies. Bolton and Martin's lack of accuracy in front of goal cost us the game over all other things considered IMHO.

Was at the game and didn't really know what was happening at the time, but after watching the replay I wasn't sure if I was hearing things did the umpire tell Dusty we'll review it during the week?
I’m not sure if it was that or they’ll explain it during the week?

Not out of the realms of possibility that at years end we lose:

Peggy, Gale, Dimma, Cotchin, Jack, Edwards and Dusty.
Then Shai says I want to go back to WA.

Happy Saturday.
youve made me turn to the shiraz with this post
