Balta is almost a certainty, Lynch will miss one after the bye and Lamborghini no one really knows how he’ll pull up. Reckon Balta will play the Lynch role for one week until Lynch comes back then go back to defence
Thanks for that. Lambo will be interesting. Hope he can play at least part time for the remainder of the year.
So I'd say Balta and Pickett with maybe Cumbo starting. Not sure who goes out.

Regardless of the last non decision , should not let that lead slip ! We just kept bombing in for no result , Dusty Shai would normally convert those late chances & each time they entered 50 in the last they scored goals

Poor discipline from both our captains huge in the context

Yep. It’s certainly not the end of the world. Some are acting like we are bottom 4 material after that game. I thought we were pretty good and it was just a hard, tough game between two very good teams

Anyone watching that did not follow either side. Would have enjoyed it. Result and umpires aside was an entertaining game.

I think its rough JR only got one vote.

He was well above our bottom three at least.

I saw him going on about it might be his last year on AFL360 extra and Dunstall said he should go on. No way JR should be retiring next year even if Gibcus helps in the forward line. He was not a passenger like others last night

Others get votes because some supporters worry rightfully they might get dropped

What’s going on? The streak is over. The greatest side of the modern era that our esteemed 3 time premiership side can’t hold a candle to, has been torched. Boy o boy Wowee

Exhibit A Steven May knocked out today , Freo win first game at G since 2017

The poll is to vote for our 5 best on the night isn’t it? Jack along with many others shouldn’t have received any votes.

I reckon we are good enough to scrape into the 8, certainly not a top 4 side though.
Without 2 of our key players we lose the game by 1g after conceding 5g from free kicks and it’s unequivocal we re not top8,,,cmon , you’d think we played NM last night , you can’t make this tripe up

Agreed and it was a great game, against a good side, on their deck…A few of our supporters either have short memories, or want to be spoilt every year…Not only have we had a dynasty recently, we are well placed to go again in 5 years…No-one has done that…Not Brisbane, not Geelong, definitely not Hawthorn…Very good recruiting last year, and good picks to come (North Melbourne’s second-rounder for starters)…Even if one of the ‘22 crew don’t make it (such as Brown), Gibcus, Sonsie and Clarke look pretty solid…Gibcus could be generational…Who knows…? But we can’t forget we’ve done pretty well lately, and will again in the near future…Enjoy the ride, and stay positive…

our supporters are just extra salty coz they know we woulda had 5-6 flags in 6 years if it wasn't for steve hocking

When you’re playing in hostile territory against a quality side in what amounts to their Grand Final (Friday night at SCG against biggest club in land), we were always going to need everything to go right…. particularly missing Lynch, Balta, Pickett and Lambert.

After a very good first half that second half was a perfect storm … that always seem to happen to us. Swans kick 10.3 and we kick 4.8. We give away some stupid frees and 50’s. We don’t get any 50/50 decisions our way. Buddy kicks straight … I’d love to check his stats against us - does he ever friggin miss? We miss a heap of shots we’d normally slot. Hickey is a late out then Ladhams plays his one good game of the season as he did for Port against us last year etc….

The reality is if the Swans could have chosen 2 players to take out of our team it would have been Lynch (comps best key forward over the last month and Coleman leader) and Balta (perfect oppo for Buddy who was their best chance to beat us).

And what happened? We had no forward target to help Jack who was mauled as he is every week. Buddy is BOG and wins the game for them.

It has happened since Round 2 2021… we just cannot keep our most important players on the park all together for long enough to get momentum. In 2019 and 2020 we got our full team up and going post bye and destroyed everyone. I was hoping 2-weeks ago we’d turned the corner with our injury luck…. then Balta, Lynch and Lambert in consecutive weeks. It’s doing my head in.

We should of had a defender manning the goal square not sure now that’s on Gibcus
None of its on Gibcus; he doesn’t arrange the magnets.
The umpire said it was the logical thing to do well you DH's if a player flinches slightly on the mark or just motions slightly with his arm its not logical to pay such a hefty penalty. So yes nearly every 50 metre penalty may not be logical due to cause verses penalty but you are not paid to be logical but prosecute the laws and a player booting the ball after a whistle 50 metres into the crowd when the game was not over is a 50 metre penalty every day of the week.
Well put.

OK Tigers its now been established that every team is beatable and the Premiership window is still open for us, but we need a lot of things to go right from now on. With an ageing list our concerns are going to be injuries and the depth to cover for them. As the season wears on and we strive in hard fought games like Friday night they could become our nemesis, so we need some kids to step up otherwise we won't make it. I'm still of the belief we are a top 4 side, but we've failed at selection and if we picked our best equipped 22 team we would have won some of those close games and even with the substandard umpiring that has gone terribly against us. If the club drops Castagna this week then It'll be the first step knowing they genuinely are serious about this season. Melbourne losing last night should be the perfect incentive to all clubs that the door is still ajar and that the flag is there for others to pinch it. Remember 2018 which we looked unbeatable and it was our best season in our 4 year supremacy, but we didn't achieve anything in the end.

Would have been nice to win and we got sucked in to giving away stupid frees that cost us. But life goes on. That little ground bottled us up

Honestly I feel we are getting our mojo back. Even if we miss the double chance its just one extra game to win and in any case in 2020 we had to play in week 2.

Away finals might **** us up the ass if t pans out that way but usually the umps are on their best behaviour at finals time, not the useless campaigners they are currently.

We still have Pickett, Lynch and Balta to come back, but as you say our midfield cupboard is bare. Lambert was a huge loss.
Houli, lambert and ellis.....yes i know ellis...but when it really clicked for us '17 '18 '19 these three were really important to our structure and our style.

We're trying to take possession now..whereas dimma had us playing a territory game in the past. It doesn't matter who has the ball, oppo can't score if the balls in our forward line. The manic, chaos, get it forward at all costs takes a lot of trust in your team mates.

We still haven't quite adjusted to the stand rule. Afl really did a good job fisting us with that one

Thanks for that. Lambo will be interesting. Hope he can play at least part time for the remainder of the year.

Pickett has been fantastic for us this year, his inclusion will be important, tough and skilled, he is one of the better wingman in the competition imo

And our team looks so much better with Balta playing. Perfect swing man, with his marking and ground ability.

I know we probably have him penciled in to play back but he is an option to play 2nd ruck with Nank or throw forward on occasions.
Missed him as much as Lynch against Swans. Reckon he would have put the clamps on a rampaging Buddy in the 2nd half
