I don’t think it’s hunger, tell me Cotch wasn’t hungry tonight? I think it’s age and weak links like Ross, MJ and Castagne.
Reckon it is Hunger but with age as well no doubt..Give up 3 games leading by 5.

That ending was everything I hate about AFL these days.
Crap free kick to Prestia anyway - technically 50 - and technically dissent from seven Richmond players before the umpire made the call.
Next week, all three calls in another game will be different.

Elsewhere, we shit the bed and are far too undisciplined, Grimes and Nank the biggest culprits.
Gibcus made some clangers but applaud him for taking the game on. He's growing every week.
What do you say about #11.
Spin it all you want .. guarding space, forward pressure, one-percenters ... he was a f**** liability and was not involved.
His biggest pressure act was knocking the ball out of Shai's hands when he would have likely kicked a goal.
In summary, you don't lose games from 31 down.
Vlastuin is the worst

If we want to make statements
He should be dropped.
Really cut as it cost me in my pocket

But the gameplan. Kick it to jack with 3 on him?

Hmmmmm

We not a good coached team anymore
Really stupid really

Unlosable game and we lost

Gibcus is future AA captain

Roast:

- Coaching. Grimes and Buddy is the perfect match up. Literally not a player Grimes is better suited to playing on then Buddy. Gibcus for the most part was fine on Buddy but goals like the tug of the jumper in the last don't happen with a more experienced defender, at least not in the manner that it did. Had we got that match up right we could have put Gibcus forward earlier and given ourselves an avenue to goal rather than relying on our smalls to compete both in the air and at ground level.

- Nank. Told you guys but you didn't listen. He regularly cost us goals and today it was the difference. Just undisciplined bullshit. Nothing tough about dropping a player once he has already released it.

- The backline. Bullshit switch kicks that weren't required and weren't on. From Gibcus to the experienced Grimes and Vlastuin. Rubbish.

- Playing the conditions and ground. Was an ice skating rink out there tonight and we wanted to be cute with it. Just get the ball going forward and between the forward 50 and centre is when you can use some composure and find the obvious target. Way too many times we tried to find what would normally be the right option but on the smaller size ground and with slippery conditions the right option is to get the ball forward. Instead we turned it over they run through the middle unmarked while ours guys were caught running the other way.

- Umpiring. Now they use common sense. Laughable. The fact that wasn't a 50m doesn't bother me but when you call 50's like the one against Bolton last week in front of 70,000 screaming fans don't create bullshit excuses about not being able to hear. Outside of that though Sydney had a lot of cheap free kicks, some great acting by Heeney and Buddy for slight contact. Lets not forget the pathetic free kicks for their first.

We got closer than we should have with that team.
Up against it from the start. 100 points with that forward line was good.
duck of umps, shit campaigners.
We’re not here to watch you. And you can’t even get your decisions correct.
Not that we deserved to win though.

Bolton was way down.
Castagna nothing.
Tarrant eek

Tarrant is a defender who played on McDonald. McDonald had 6 touches, 2 marks and was scoreless.

probably the softest of soft**** ******ed umpiring I've ever seen in my life tonight. even some of the frees to us were bullshit but umps f*cked us hard in the second half when they realised we were too far ahead in the count. I've never been that angry at a game before had to just beeline out after the siren to make sure I didn't loose it

No just George,Ross and Tarrant.
None of these three were that bad, we just aren't clean with the ball. Gibcus has been awesome to date, but still caused several turn overs and a goal tonight. George is like MRJ, applies heaps of pressure even if he doesn't have a lot of posessions, goals, etc... That's why they're here. You can just as easily point to the missed goals we should have got that lost us the game. I reckon Dusty's out of bounds on the full from almost right in front of goal was the turning point where we lost it. If any Dusty goal was meant to be a certainty, that was it.

Tell me about it ... had a nice wager on us go begging too.
And my trotter got pipped at the post at Bendigo tonight too - a double whammy.

Feeling pretty flat.
Keep going back to that first no-reason free and goal to Sam Reid.
Seems ridiculous that we're supposed to just accept that you need to be a 5+ goal better team to guarantee a win as there can easily be 5 goals given away due to dubious umpire decisions.
This game has become a bit like poker. Yes there is a degree of skill involved, but in the end luck has more to do with it - whether the calls go your way or not has to be said out aloud is a HUGE factor in a match.
**** me, is there any other elite sport in the world where the LUCK OF THE GAME is such a major factor????

Personally, I felt that there was no reason to award a 50 at the end - was an honest and fair enough action when the siren sounds, not malicious or petty or time-wasting at all. But unfortunately that will be the only aspect of the game that the media will run with.

Having trouble awarding votes:
Nank was good but can I forgive that stupid late bump?
Grimes similar - was looking as good as I've remembered for a while but a stupid unnecessary act or two....
Gibcus - I liked, and youth means I forgive a bit, but a couple of absolute shocking ill-delivered kicks across the back 50....
Rioli - a great game in general - but a few efforts that would have an under-16 dragged to the bench...

We were 33 points up and we lost the plot defensively. That's basically what the problem was. How are we so close to being a good team yet so far?

Yet again, our lapse in approximately one quarter undid everything that we did in the game.
  • Up by 20 points in the 4th quarter and lose the Carlton game
  • Up by 25 points 12 minutes into the 3rd quarter and lose the St Kilda game
  • Up by 30 points 12 minutes into the 3rd quarter and lose the Sydney game

All we needed was some defensive composure to have a record of 9-2. Yet, we are very far from that. Like the West Coast game last year, these types of losses either will either make us or break us for the rest of the year IMO. Hopefully it'll teach us some resilience over the bye.

We may as well try Miller and Cumberland over Tarrant and Castagna respectively. Neither have had a good impact today and it needs to change. A positive was Short in the middle/forward. I really liked that change and it worked out very well. Next positional change we should try is Gibcus forward.
