You can just as easily point to the missed goals we should have got that lost us the game. I reckon Dusty's out of bounds on the full from almost right in front of goal was the turning point where we lost it. If any Dusty goal was meant to be a certainty, that was it.

It was a frustrating end but there are positives to take away from that game. Gibcus was one despite having 4 goals kicked on him he was pretty good in many of the contests and showed courage beyond his years to kick the last goal. Short experiment in midfield was pretty devastating in that patch where he kicked 2 goals. Generally our contested play and pressure seemed good all night.

We just had too many incidents in the 2nd half where Poor skill errors led to goals, Missed shots at goal on our end, and just blazing away into F50 rather than spotting up a lead. Tarrant missed spoil, Rioli slip / fumble, Gibcus turnover all dumb errors that cost us. Ross, Castagna & Tarrant all should not be in the side. soldo is not a forward… we missed Lynch.

As for the umpiring, it’s the end of Aussie rules as a contact sport. A number of soft frees given for physical contact that has been stock standard part of the game. Umpires whistle is the decisive factor on many plays and significant source of goals
