This sport is drowning and the AFL is doing nothing to rescue it.

It’s drowning because of the decisions they’ve made and they’re too proud to accept they’ve been wrong

That ending was tragic. Free to Dion - yes, 50 for kicking the ball away - yes .. no "didn't know". But every week in every game there are 50s for not knowing.

We could have, maybe should have won.

Dusty doesn't have his kicking boots on. Stupid stuff from our top end players. Forward entries to talls surrounded to 3 defenders.

But when we were on we were amazing.

So glass half full. But we desperately need Lynch to make our forward line function. To win the whole thing we need Dusty back in genuine form.

And we were out coached. Sydney changed their back set up and rebounded form tehri really well. Shouldn't let that work

pretty sure the coaching staff are aware of the deficiencies in george, soldo etc's games but dimma has clearly explained recently why they are important. he has made a distinction between "structural" players and the prime movers or more damaging players (not sure what he called them). I'm sure the coaches and fans all want every player to have damaging skills, elite awareness and composure but i'm not sure that's realistic. the structural players are what hold up our defensive structures and allow dusty, bolton et al to focus on their weaponry. if every player was a dusty we would concede 200 points per game and be millions over the salary cap. might score 300 but still.

31 up.

but get what you say. spot on with everything you said
Gibcus made some mistakes that cost us, but he did well against awesome opposition (Buddy). That goal of his was special too. But just look at the last half - we kicked only 4.8 to 10.3. That's just crap, no matter how you look at it. You really start to appreciate how our GF teams were special, and missing Lambert, Balta, Lynch, and Pickett makes a difference.

Don’t like the look of Soldo in forward 50 - too slow and can’t do anything when the ball hits the ground. Ross I don’t want to call a dumb footballer, but he’s never done anything that I thought was clever or interesting. Seems like it’s just get the ball and kick it, which doesn’t seem to be working

Which one of George's two possessions did you like best???
bye next week

dimma will send him to costa rica to have a rest

will come back and
have 6 touches against port but will kick the winner

Using "common sense" as opposed to not using common sense for nearly every other call is a terrible argument. Either allow common sense for every decision or follow the rules to a t, picking and choosing is why the umpiring is in the state it's currently in
Exactly. From now on, any player can say "oh but I did not hear it" and mount a defensible argument given that there is precedence

Poor umpiring, poor/stubborn coaching, missing key players and poor performances from a good 4-6 players in the team and lose by 6 points.

I don't know how to feel.

Let me tell you now Sydney did not win this game we LOST IT

Nankervis gives away a goal in the last 12 secs of the 3rd qtr. terrible clumsy play. Undisciplined

But if I had to point out why we lost the game, Gibcus on buddy cost us, Hardwick that's terrible coaching, being too cute, sorry but you can't put an 8 gamer on buddy who kicked 4 goals on him.
I didn’t hate it. Buddy was always going to be focal point. And Gibcus did ok. On the best for of the (post Ricoh) era. Not too many more opportunities to play on him.

Don't think we deserved to win at all, we played a deplorable second half and kept blazing away to 1 v 3s. Bad coaching to leave Gibcus on Buddy for so long.

Umpiring is what it is - we need to stop giving away undisciplined free kicks. I also thought we had the rub of it the first half.

6 - 5 at the bye is no disaster but realistically we aren't winning the flag this year, so let's continue focusing on the next crop of players coming through.

Sydney didn't play that well. We stopped punishing them on turn over after half time. Too many poorly skilled players.

Soldo a one trick tap ruckman and is useless around the ground. Unless he marks from a good pass is a liability in the forward line.
Jack Ross back to turning the ball over from modest disposal numbers. George WOG with 2 touches. KMac was below average and Shedda was poor in the 2nd half with only 4 touches.
