On duursma, while his outside running was back to his best, he also seemed to have the power and strength to get through tacklers. Might be a pay off to the strength gains he had last preseason. He is a formidable player at his best.

I think it's mostly in the head with him. He lost his confidence and was playing within himself last year. He's at his best when he's playing aggressively.

He also was exceptionally clean and definitive when tracking the ground level ball especially when it was rolling or bouncing away from our goals. Those tense ground level situations where you need someone composed and tough to just take the footy in one clean motion and then give it off to a teammate in better position facing goal. Loved his game.

Collingwood unlike Brisbane are mentally strong and structured well.

Could get a big shock next week

You never know what can happen from week to week but you can't seriously talk down Brisbane in relation to Collingwood.

Brisbane have been a top 4 quality team for several years now, added Dunkley, McKenna and Gunston to last year's prelim final team and were widely viewed as a premiership favourite.

One of the recurring themes on this board for years is how well structured Brisbane are and how they crush us mentally. They're not suddenly not these things because of one result.

Still glowing from the win but let’s not forget that round 1 aberrations are a thing..
All I mean to say is we’re still going in underdogs next week.

Where has this narrative come from? He's literally 'torn us apart' one single time. The last two times he's played us he's had 8 and 9 touches and scored 1 goal total.
he’s the most over rated player in the comp. Weak as, and actually weaker than Daniher and that’s saying something

if hes brisbanes number 2 then they are in big trouble.

I reckon mcstay used to cause us more problems.

And courageous, you need to be courageous to be a defensive wingman and he has bucket loads of it.

A couple of times a few years back he’s kicked some early goals against us in Brisbane when we’ve gone on to put in terrible performances. So he’s got inside a few people’s heads as a result of that. That said I think the Hipwood meme is mostly tongue in cheek.

How could the Advertiser f**k up the front page that badly? 30 seconds of research (if that) would've shown them who JHF is.
I too am shocked.

I mean the Advertiser is regarded as a beacon of journalistic excellence across the world.

But I can just imagine the editor right now - 'thank God it wasn't a crows' player - that would really upset our subscriber base.' Heck - it might have been a deliberate ploy to get more subscribers.

Collingwood won't die like Brisbane and a hinkley coached team winning against 2 top 4 level opponents in a row , very unlikely

Hipwood has barely put together a complete season across his career. He hardly touches the footy and hes a shit kick for goal. Having said that, its exactly the type of forward who gets ahold of our defenders lmao.

We're the Make-a-Wish foundation equivalent for mediocre tall forwards.

Lachie Jones looked to have much better composure. Not sure if that is a reflection of further development or just because we we're in control.
He seemed to be his typical fumbling self in the 1st half. Leaving me to have a bit of a grumble. Then came on and played brilliant in the 2nd. He clearly has great hands overhead so there is no reason he can't be clean gathering the ball. A bit more development and composure and he could be anything

Imagine getting this kinda of ride in the frees, and still losing to Hinkley's Port by 50.

Sign Fagan for another 5 years.

21-4 at halftime, on our own patch 🤪

It might be overplayed but his career stats show that he performs better against Port than any other team.

Its harsh, but if you have a close decision you play the 24 year old over the 34 year old.

Ftr I think Boak is a club champion and at least partly responsible for the success of many of our younger players (Pep in particular comes to mind), but like others I do struggle to see someone I want to drop for him for round 2. He will definitely deservedly play games in the season as players are injured or out of form, but I'm not sure he is a lock for a starting 18 position.

Do you want to win or play the 24 year old?

Close decision?

Drew had 20 disposals, 8 contested, 4 kicks and 3 clearances today playing for a dominant midfield with a rejuvenated Lycett in ruck
Boak averaged 27 disposals, 12 contested, 12, kicks, and 6 clearances last season playing for a midfield that got beaten more often than not with Finlayson doing most of the ruck work.

Please play the geriatric.

Can you imagine what the margin would have been at half time if the free kick count had been reversed?
