Positives:
-schoey finally went to chemist warehouse and load $4.99 for the lip balm for this game.
-hunt had one of his 3 good games a year type display
-st Kilda wernt 8 goals up at qtr time when they should have.

Negatives:
  • everything
  • lethargic after the 5 day break, travel, post wet deck, simmo come down
  • we can't mark down the line or in general contest
-last kick inside 50 was atrocious all day
-I don't think I saw ONE clear Sheppard to give a teammate the 2 extra seconds
-Piss poor tackling as always
-one of the toughest watches since the sydney drubbing
-when there was 10 mins to go and everyone just dead set stopped when we turned it over inside 50 to 4 st Kilda players. Very alarming

Didn't watch the game but I heard bad things and saw the score and stats.

Said last week that the effort against Brisbane would be for nothing if they lay an egg against the Saints, not only didn't they lay an egg, they sharted.

This team is far too comfortable with 60+ losses. I'm disgusted.
The culture Simpson accepted for far too long that is now ingrained in many players as being acceptable. Is pick 1 or 2 going to be much better than pick 3 this year? If yes hopefully North and Richmond win 2 games because can't see WC winning another game this year

POSITIVES
Jack Williams kicks 3

No more games to go to in Melbourne this year. No way I’m going to GMHBA.

NEGATIVES

Everything else

My attended games this year have been

Dogs win by 76 points (10th)
Pies win by 66 points (12th)
Bombers win by 30 points (7th)
Demons win by 54 points(8th)
Saints win by 72 points (15th)

Average losing margin of 59.6 points 😢

Reid was solid but you can see his growing frustration. I'm of the belief he'll end his career in Victoria, but I really hope it is in a contract or two (and a flag's) time.
Think Reid frustration can be perceived two ways.

1. He is frustrated and will push the group to improve and improve quickly akin to Michael Jordan. He will challenge the senior players and do whatever it takes to win. This is who we want, boisterous, loud, calmingly arrogant and gets the job done.

2. He will be frustrated and throw his toys out the cot because he cant deal with the growing pains, similar to Brendan Goddard.

Hopefully he is the former.

As for the game today, I am just worried for the future. We need so many kids to come through the front door it is scary 50% of the squad has to go by 2026.

No more Jones, Rotham, L Edwards. We don't ever need to see them again. Give us some debuts or bring back Dewar. Something. Anything* but them.

*Anything not including Gaff and Sheed
Ledwards is a rich man's Hamish Brayshaw.

Jones needs to have a line marked through him. I like his pace and occasional agility but he's never going to be more than a tease.

Rotham is hard to tolerate but of the 3 he's the one I can actually see being a part of a decent team. Not ours though.

Positives: Give me time to think.
Barrass tried.
Hunt tried.
Haley tried mostly.
I am Positive Simmo isn't missing this.

Negatives:
Leadership - zip. Actually, Allen is a bit of a softy.
Who are/were our mid & storage coaches?
Poor start, lack of effort with fumbles and poor kicking - set the scene
10 ++ players not up to AFL standards.
Cripps has been one of out hardest workers - I think we have lost him.
Mid coach last week was Boots wasn't it?

I know BBW isn't setting the world on fire but stoppage and centre bounces are a huge concern. When we had Nick Nat some sides managed to set up by pushing the players past the ball to at least break even.

Definitely need a mid coach from a team like the cats who are strong in that area.

Was far from our worst. Thought he did some nice things again and has some good skills and natural football nouce. Way more potential than the likes of L. Edwards, Culley, Hutchinson and doing more in the team already than players like Petch, J.Jones etc. If they don't stick with him until the end of the year I'll be livid.
I have to say, the only times I noticed him was when he was ****ing something up.

L Edwards is for the garbage heap. He can give up on his hair while he's at it.

  • Could have stayed in a perfectly warm bed or on the couch but instead drove to Melbourne to watch that manure.

Positives:
  • Hunt played a really good game
  • Three goals from Jack Williams
  • Ginbey played well
  • Harley still battling away and doing good things despite the umps seemingly being against him
  • Culley some good moments early before fading
  • Harry Edwards showing improvement
  • We're about to tuck into a delicious feed at an Ethiopian restaurant in Footscray
Negatives:

  • Skills: has any AFL team turned the ball over as consistently as this Eagles side?
  • Effort: after a much better display of pressure and tackling last week, today we were right back to our worst
  • Jones, Luke Edwards: delist
  • Bailey Williams. Last season's improvement looking like a false dawn sadly. Smashed in the ruck, tapped it to opponents when he did win a hit out, can't kick for goal to save himself.
  • Cripps had a shocker. Near the end of his career now.
  • Why sub out Chesser?
  • Umpiring. No wonder people develop conspiracy theories.
  • Saw little today to recommend Schofield as next coach, though maybe that's a positive.
  • Pathetic Saints fans booing Harley Reid. May your pissant 1 flag in 130-odd years club bring you the further decades of misery you deserve.
  • Coming to Perth this week for the first time in six years and have bought a ticket to the Derby. If we play against Freo like we did today will legit lose by 20+ goals.
